Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 215: Chapter 215: Dialogue with the Chief

The next day, Cheng Su did indeed have Ning Ge make a call to verify his identity at a small restaurant, and Qi Taiguo, who was off work today, followed suit.

Ning Ge felt very embarrassed as he looked towards Cheng Su and the others, ”Are we really doing this?”

Could it be that they truly didn’t believe his words?

Ning Ge indeed felt a little hurt.

”What’s there to be afraid of? You don’t change your name or your seat, are you feeling guilty?” Cheng Su said, giving him a sidelong glance.

Ning Ge glared at her, snatched the phone, and started dialing.

Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo exchanged glances.

”Hello, big brother, it’s me,” Ning Ge said as soon as he heard the familiar voice on the other end. He hurriedly spoke, ”No problems, I’ve arrived in Qing City. Oh, big brother, hold on, the company commander from the Army Military Region in Qing City I told you about wants to talk to you.”

As he spoke, he covered the receiver and said to Qi Taiguo, ”It’s my big brother, Ning Gang, the Commander of the Yanjing Military Region of the People’s Liberation Army.”

Qi Taiguo’s face changed slightly as he looked towards Cheng Su.

They just wanted to test Ning Ge’s sincerity and determination; they never truly wanted to speak with his family. Now...

”What are you afraid of? Soldiers all over share a bond, can’t you even greet your superior? Or don’t you dare?” Cheng Su stared him down.

Qi Taiguo felt somewhat embarrassed. Honestly, despite his many years in the military, he had never spoken to such a high-ranking leader.

Taking the phone, Qi Taiguo cleared his throat, stood up straight, held the receiver tightly, and reported with a deep voice on the other end, ”Reporting, the company commander of Qing City Army’s First Battalion, Qi Taiguo, salutes the Chief!”

As he said this, he even saluted the phone.

Cheng Su couldn’t help but laugh, and Ning Ge was also astonished, finding Qi Taiguo’s forthrightness quite an eye-opener.

After a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, the voice said, ”Hello. Is this the Mai Silin group?”

”Reporting, Chief, yes,” Qi Taiguo hurriedly replied.

”Your name is Qi Taiguo, I heard that our Fourth Young Master caused you some trouble at your place a few days ago, I really must apologize for that,” Ning Gang said apologetically.

”Ah, not at all, Fourth Young Master Ning is very talkative,” Qi Taiguo glanced at Ning Ge and said reluctantly.

The other end of the line chuckled, the tone lightened a bit, ”I know what kind of person that kid is, as his older brother, I’m sorry for the trouble he caused you!”

”No trouble!” Qi Taiguo quickly added, and glanced at Cheng Su, then hesitantly said, taking the cue from her lips, ”That is, reporting to the Chief, Fourth Young Master mentioned going into business with my wife. May I ask if you are aware of this matter?”

”Oh? I only heard he wanted to engage in some business, he’s working with your wife? Your wife is...”

”Famed Cheng Su, currently running a restaurant,” Qi Taiguo was very honest.

”Our Fourth Young Master is decisive. If he chooses to go into business, he does so with his own ideas. Since he can interact with you, he must have given it considerable thought. As long as it’s legitimate business that doesn’t infringe on state interests, I won’t interfere,” Ning Gang stated.

”Understood!”

”Then, I’ll leave it in your hands!” Ning Gang on the other end of the phone said, ”If he does anything inappropriate, you are welcome to call and report to me at any time. This is my number, write it down.”

It seemed that Qi Taiguo was also expected to ’keep an eye’ on Ning Ge.

Qi Taiguo’s eyes lit up with deep meaning as he glanced at Ning Ge and said loudly, ”Understood!”

After the other party hung up, he immediately jotted down the number, and turned to Cheng Su, ”All set.”

Ning Ge rolled his eyes, just about to say that he was not one to lie, when he heard Qi Taiguo add, ”If he does anything out of line, I will report it to the Chief right away.”

Ning Ge stumbled, mentally cursing, big brother, that’s not how you set someone up!

Meanwhile, far away in Beijing, Ning Gang called his secretary and instructed, ”Go get the information on Qi Taiguo from Qing City Army’s First Battalion for me.”
