Summoners: One Golden Term per Level

The stark contrast with the vibrant other side of the island was evident here; dead trees, withered grass, and strange rocks showcased a desolate landscape, while the sky hung low and dim, exuding an indescribable sense of oppression and mystery.

Stopping at the doorway, Shen Fei gazed at the statue standing prominently in the main hall, also a divine image.

It was a goddess with three heads and three bodies, six arms, holding a torch, herbs, and talismans, her eyes cast in three different directions.

The sorcery goddess Hecate, the object of faith for the Great Witch Calypso.

At the same time, she was the triple-aspect goddess representing opportunity in Greek mythology, the goddess of magic, the queen of ghosts, and the goddess of Hell, a rather mysterious and unique existence.

However, Shen Fei’s expression became slightly odd.

It wasn’t just Shen Fei; Jasper Pool and Moon God felt the same.

Because the face of Hecate’s statue was that of the Saintess, only with a different expression.

Originally, they thought that Jasper Pool coming to Ancient Greece to become a Muse was already among the elites, but unexpectedly, the Saintess was even more outrageous, having become Hecate.

”I shall first pray to my god, to see if there is a definitive method to solve Scylla, if not, then I’ll resort to my own method.”

Calypso entered the temple, her previous smile now replaced with solemnity.

In the next moment.

Calypso crossed her hands over her chest, the power of sorcery formed into special runes before her and fell upon the divine statue.

She used the power of sorcery to communicate with Hecate through the statue.

A moment later.

The runes dissipated, and Calypso looked slightly embarrassed, for as a priest, failing to communicate with the divine spirit was seen by many as the god’s rejection of the priest.

But Hecate wasn’t a simple divine spirit; arguably ancient enough to rival Zeus and residing in the Netherworld, which was quite far from the mortal realm.

Some divine spirits found it difficult to bridge this distance, unable to reach the Netherworld at all.

This was also related to the divine spirit’s divine authority.

Moreover, to traverse the Netherworld, one must pass by a certain Three-headed Dog, which caused Shen Fei to raise an eyebrow, thinking that Hecate might indeed be the Saintess.

Yet, the Saintess’s current state seemed less than optimal; otherwise, with her power, she’d have easily descended to the mortal realm to reconnect with him.

He could only venture into the Netherworld to find the Saintess, as two of his tasks were connected to the Netherworld, and he needed to find the Nether River to immerse himself within it.

If no solution could be found through Hecate, then he might at least derive the method of entering the Netherworld from Calypso.

”If my god hasn’t provided a method, then I’ll have to use my own way. Once I’ve brewed the magic potion, Scylla will restore to her normal Sea Nymph form.

Only then can you completely destroy her.” Calypso led Shen Fei and the other two out of the temple, glancing at Shen Fei and noted he hadn’t belittled her for failing to summon Hecate.

She was quite pleased.

Previously, she could transform Scylla into a monster for Odysseus, naturally, now she could revert Scylla from a monster back to a Sea Nymph for Shen Fei.

”However, it may take a while.”

...

In the following days, Shen Fei and the others stayed on Aia Island, Shen Fei’s task was to improve Calypso’s favorability and discreetly gather information about Hecate.

And the means to enter the Netherworld.

Meanwhile, Moon God and Jasper Pool forged good relationships with Calypso, ensuring she didn’t view them with alternative eyes for associating with Shen Fei.

Interestingly.

Whenever they showed unusual concern, Calypso, like a mother hen protecting her chicks, glared at them with her rainbow-colored pupils in anger.

It was truly amusing.

To Moon God and Jasper Pool, it indeed was; Calypso was indeed strong, even stronger than Jasper Pool at present.

Nevertheless, in their eyes, her personality was like a little girl, no wonder she was a romance-bound brainiac, likely due to not having encountered many men.

Of course.

The trio also assisted Calypso in gathering and processing magic potion ingredients on Aia Island, likely because Calypso was a homebody; fortunately, the ingredients she required were on the island.

Only processing them was troublesome; sometimes needing specific timelines to extract them for old age.

Thus.

Half a year passed, with Shen Fei and the others watching Calypso as she brewed the potion; the forces of earth, fire, air, and water floated above the concoction.

These were the most fundamental four elements of Ancient Greece.

”So essentially, sorcery is no different from divine skills; the essence of sorcery is built upon elements.

Using symbols as a medium, soul as the guide, defining rules with one’s will.

Reconstructing a microcosm, this world is sorcery.”

”Only sorcery is soul dominated, whereas divine skills are directly dominated by ’rank’.”

”Magic potion is merely a type of sorcery.”

Calypso explained the essence of sorcery while brewing, ”Compared to rank, the soul’s traction towards the four elements is too weak, still requiring the medium of symbols.

Whether in terms of intensity or speed, it’ll be far slower than rank! Hence, sorcery is weaker than divine skills.”

Shen Fei was curious, ”Does that mean rank is an advancement of the soul?”

”Exactly, or where do you think the gods’ rank comes from?

Born of heaven and earth are souls granted by heaven and earth, and ranks thus generated from the human realm!

Countless human soul powers converging form rank.”

”Then what about divine authority?”

”Think about it, mixing the four elements with various symbols can create all sorts of sorcery, so doesn’t divine authority resemble mixing multiple symbols with the four elements to form special rules.

Simple interaction between divine authority and rank can instantly form divine skills.” Calypso elaborated.

Shen Fei was astonished, looking at Calypso and exclaiming, ”I didn’t expect you to have such profound insights on this.

But why are you still a demigod?”

”I can’t aggregate divine authority, can I? I only have one [Witch] rank, which was bestowed by my god.” Calypso stated matter-of-factly.

”I can only aggregate [Witchcraft] divine authority, and [Witchcraft] divine authority has long been occupied by my god.

Unless my god is willing to let me be her subordinate god.”

”Hehe, but I’ve stopped thinking about it. For years, my god hasn’t responded to my prayers, something must have happened.” Calypso first indulged in dreams, then sighed.

Shen Fei raised a brow, though it’s illusory, Calypso indeed helped them.

If the Saintess had the ability, she could perhaps help Calypso become a true goddess.

Even if merely a subordinate god.

Yet he made no promises to Calypso, uncertain of the Saintess’s situation and knowing that he’d likely need to explore the Netherworld for answers.

A moment later.

Calypso tossed her ladle aside, ”Done!”
