Chapter 823: By the way, whatʼs Ren doing here?

”Letʼs discuss this after the meeting,” Idan suggested after a short pause.

”Okay,” Lucinda nodded, agreeing with his suggestion.

Lucindaʼs words caught the attention of not only Idan, but also Arabel, Arslan, and Irene. They couldnʼt remember Anna and Ivette ever mentioning Sierraʼs proposal, which Lucinda had mentioned. Therefore, the three of them decided to join Idan and Lucindaʼs conversation after the meeting.

”By the way, whatʼs Ren doing here?” asked Arabel. ”Weʼre discussing our Guildʼs business here and our plans for the Third Disaster.”

”Or has he decided to join us too?”

Irene, Arslan, Yulaya, Hazel, Hailey, and even Felicia exchanged glances.

They were all well acquainted with Ren, and, most surprisingly, none of them invited him to this meeting. Now they wanted to know who had invited him.

”I invited him to witness the Lucinda phenomenon,” Arslan said. ”But why is he here, Iʼm wondering that myself.”

”So am I,” Irene said.

”And I,” Yulaya joined in, and the others followed her.

”Arslan and I offered him to join the Guild, but he didnʼt say anything except ʼIʼll think about it,ʼ” Irene added, stealing a glance at Ren.

”Ahem,” there was a cough, and everyone turned to the middle—aged man.

”This is… I invited him to join us at this meeting,” Alois confessed.

”I accepted him as my second disciple,” Alois proudly said with a smile after a short pause, which caused everyone to be surprised.

”Oh! Really? And he agreed?” exclaimed Arslan, like everyone else who was familiar with Ren.

”Yes, he agreed,” Alois confirmed.

”And you didnʼt discuss it with us?” Arabel asked, and Alois frowned, not understanding why he had to discuss it with them.

”Have you forgotten that youʼre only here because we let you stay?” Arabel reminded him.

Only then did Alois realize what this place was and where he was, and he smiled awkwardly.

”Ren is here as a guest. He is not a member of our Guild and is not a resident of the Kingdom. He has his own Guild in the Capital, and the most important thing is that we no longer have a portal that leads back and forth,” Arabel added.

”Once Ren leaves this place, it will be difficult for him to get back here,” Arabel continued.

”Heʼs not going to stay here all this time, forgetting about his business in the Capital, is he?” asked Arabel, staring intently at Ren, who was sitting quietly, showing no emotion.

Meanwhile, Irene, Arslan, Yulaya, Hazel, Hailey, and Felicia exchanged glances again. Knowing Ren, they realized they were thinking the same thing.

”Ren is capable of this”, — It flashed through their minds.

”I agree,” Ren suddenly said and added: ”Iʼm willing to join you if it allows me to stay here.”

Ren didnʼt have a good reason to join this place before, but now that heʼs met Liam, Alois, and seen Lina fight, heʼs eager to stay here.

After some persuasion, he became a disciple of Alois, who promised that if he found a way to return to Junonia, he would take Ren with him to the closed Sword sect, which he had heard a lot about and where he so wanted to go.

Renʼs joining came as a surprise to everyone who knew him. After all, everyone knew that his only concern was the sword and the art of wielding it. Nothing else bothered Ren. It was difficult to persuade him to do something he didnʼt like.

But when they remembered the recent event, they understood why he decided to join them.

”All right, then,” Arabel nodded.

After all the issues related to Ren and his accession to the Kingdom were resolved, they were finally able to start discussing the plan for the time of the Third Disaster.

”Leo, show me the map of the Federation,” Idan asked, and Leo, using his powers, created a fairly large screen with an up-to-date map of the Federation.

”As we discussed earlier, we will focus our forces in the north and east of the Federation,” Idan said, pointing at the vast area on the map.

”We will not be able to cover this entire vast area, so we will focus our efforts on protecting cities and settlements,” he continued, and everyone present nodded in agreement.

Indeed, they didnʼt have enough people to defend such a vast territory. After discussion, the following decision was made:

* Arabel, along with the members of the Queens Guild, will take over the protection of the cities in the north, including the city of Rumbus on the northern border.

* Idan and the Red Fox Guild members will defend the cities to the east.

* And the remaining members, such as the members of the Flower Garden Guild, will defend the cities located between the north and the east, including Nordist.

”We donʼt know what the Third Disaster will be, but if we recall that the First Disaster was caused by the attack of creatures from the rift, from where the energy of evolution gushed, and the Second by a wave of beasts that evolved under the influence of this energy, then most likely the Third Disaster will also be associated with evolved creatures,” Idan suggested.

His words made all the Awakened Ones reflect on past Disasters.

The First Disaster wasnʼt that big, but it was still a real challenge for everyone.

At that time, the number of Awakened Ones was very small. When the strange energy of evolution poured into the world from the rifts, strange creatures also entered it. Creatures that were hunted by the Awakened all over the world to protect the world.

Although there werenʼt many of these creatures and they werenʼt that strong by todayʼs standards, at that time they brought a lot of trouble and destruction.

The Second Disaster was already large-scale.

Waves of Beasts appeared one after another, engulfing the entire world, and the Awakened Ones barely had time to react to their attacks.

These Waves of Beasts destroyed many cities, and the number of victims was greater than during the First Disaster. The death toll could have been even higher if the beasts hadnʼt retreated after a while, marking the end of the Second Disaster.

It was a real natural disaster.

”Since the Third Disaster is a consequence of our worldʼs transition to the middle stage of growth, there is a high probability that during this disaster we will encounter a wave of beasts that have already awakened their affinity with the elements,” Idan suggested, continuing to speculate.

His words made everyone think and become more serious.

No one denied his assumptions, as everyone also believed that the Third Disaster would probably allow evolved beasts, like other creatures from the world of elements and even from the world of Junonia, to awaken their affinity with the elements.

”The situation will get even worse if new evolved beasts such as dragons and other creatures from legends appear during the Third Disaster,” Idan added, further clouding the situation.
