CEO's Reborn Wife

Looking at Jane Sampson’s excited expression of wanting to go out and play, Granny Carter couldn’t bear to say much, just told them to have fun and play for as long as they wanted.

James Black drove the Carter Family car out, not even opening the navigation, obviously familiar with that night market.

Jane Sampson sat in the passenger seat, holding her mobile phone. As soon as she got on twitter, she saw some news.

The matter had a bit of a connection to her.

It was a small incident at the hotpot restaurant she co-owned with Nina Rice.

A customer posted on twitter and shared a video saying that while dining at the hotpot restaurant, an employee suddenly fainted and was sent to the hospital, and the customer heard from other employees that the person seemed to have not slept properly for several days and was exhausted.

After this news was released, many people underneath the post accused the hotpot restaurant of exploiting employees, making them work until they fainted.

In the internet realm, there’s really no shortage of haters.

Those haters went on to criticize Jane Sampson as a heartless boss, an oppressive employer who doesn’t care about employee welfare.

Even Nina Rice, the manager, got dragged into the criticism, with people bringing up Alexander Forest’s pursuit of her, claiming that Alexander Forest, the playboy, had poor judgment for falling for such a heartless woman.

Jane Sampson saw the message but didn’t pay attention to the haters. After exiting twitter, she directly called Nina Rice.

The phone rang several times before it was picked up.

”Hello.”

”Are you at the hospital?” Jane Sampson listened to the background noise, vaguely hearing words like doctor and nurse, and guessed.

”Yes, an employee at the shop had an accident and was sent over. I followed the ambulance because I was worried,” Nina Rice said.

”How’s the situation? I saw people on the internet saying she fainted from exhaustion?” Jane Sampson asked, ”I remember the shop’s employees work in two shifts, how could anyone faint from exhaustion?”

The shop opens at 10 a.m and closes at 1 a.m.

It operates for 15 hours a day, with two shifts of employees taking turns working, each shift lasting 8 hours.

Since the afternoon isn’t busy, employees can rotate and rest, so there’s no reason for employees to faint from exhaustion.

”How did such a small matter end up on the internet?” Nina Rice was puzzled.

Then, Nina Rice continued to explain the employee’s situation to Jane Sampson.

”This employee truly fainted from exhaustion, I just learned about the situation from other employees. She requested to the manager to work night shifts every day, starting at five o’clock to work until one o’clock in the evening, and during daytime, she also worked two part-time jobs. One was delivering milk before dawn, and the other was cleaning as a housekeeper. Her day is filled with work. If she can rest four hours, it’s already good enough. Over the long term, she’s bound to get sick.”

”That hard-working?” Jane Sampson was stunned, ”The hotpot business has always been good, didn’t you provide quite a high salary for the employees?”

”It’s considerable, especially for those who only work night shifts with some subsidies,” Nina Rice said, ”Under normal circumstances, a waiter like her could make a living, but unfortunately, she’s an employee with unusual circumstances.”

”What do you mean?” Jane Sampson asked, surprised.

”I just learned from other employees. The one who fainted is divorced and raising a sick daughter on her own. Her daughter has always been hospitalized, and the medical expenses are expensive. She’s working tirelessly every day just to pay for her daughter’s treatments, and her husband hasn’t given her daughter a cent for medical expenses,” Nina Rice said, ”That’s all I know for now. Thankfully, she just fainted from exhaustion and didn’t develop a major illness. Otherwise, if she collapsed, what would happen to her daughter?”
