CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 2220: Chapter 2228: Long-Term Illness

Hearing the footsteps behind, Oscar Wilson turned his head to see Jane Sampson and James Black coming. He didn’t move an inch but waved his arm as a greeting to the two of them.

”When did you arrive?” Jane Sampson was a bit surprised to see Peter Gingery also there, ”I thought you would come in the afternoon.”

”I just got here about half an hour ago,” Peter Gingery replied, ”I rested at the Black Residence last night.”

As Peter spoke, he discreetly glanced at James Black. When he arrived, Rachel Miller was already sitting there fishing. He asked Oscar, and Oscar said he had told Jane Sampson about Rachel coming, so Peter didn’t bother to give Jane another phone call.

”You two go to the personnel there to register and get the stuff, and then come over here. We’ve reserved this whole area, so no one will come to take your spot,” Oscar pointed to a house not far away for the two to go to.

”I’ll take you,” Peter Gingery stood up and pulled Jane Sampson to walk ahead.

After walking about a dozen meters, Peter lowered his voice and asked Jane Sampson, ”My brother knows Rachel is here, right? Why did he still come?”

”That’s a strange question to ask. Is Rachel Miller the swine flu or bird flu that James needs to avoid him?” Influenced by James Black, Jane casually responded.

After speaking, she realized her remark was quite sharp-tongued, so she added, ”This is the Capital Province, if anyone needs to avoid, it’s Rachel. If Rachel dares to come, why wouldn’t James dare to come?”

”True,” Peter nodded.

Then he lowered his voice even further, ”Last time we saw him, and this time we see Rachel, don’t you think Rachel has changed a lot?”

”He looks thinner, and his face is pale, like someone who’s ill,” Jane Sampson said.

”It’s more than that. Sitting next to him, my nose can even smell a faint scent of medicine on him. The illness, it’s been going on for quite some time now,” Peter looked back at Rachel in a contemplative manner.

”What’s going on?” Jane Sampson asked.

”Not long after the year started, his father passed away. Not long after his father passed, he fainted during a business trip internationally and was taken to the hospital by his subordinates. The check-up revealed that he too was ill,” Peter sighed, ”Actually, the Miller Family’s feud has nothing to do with Rachel, and we thought, just like my brother, he’d be lucky enough to escape it, but turns out he couldn’t.”

”I don’t know if Rachel’s illness can be controlled. Otherwise, the Miller Family would really be at an end.”

James Black had already cut ties with the Miller Family. James Black’s mother was also buried in the Black Family’s ancestral tomb. Although half of him carried Miller blood, his ties with the Miller Family were long severed.

In the future, Jane Sampson’s children would also carry the Black name, continuing the Black Family’s bloodline, inheriting everything from the Black Family.

To speak of the grim possibility, if Rachel were to pass away too.

This Tomb Sweeping Day, there might not be anyone to burn even a bit of paper money for the Miller Family.

”The Miller relatives, tut-tut, I don’t even know what to say about them. Each one is consumed by money. I heard from Oscar that Rachel seems to have arranged his own affairs, booked an all-in-one funeral service, and even chose a cemetery, figuring that after his death, the Miller relatives wouldn’t handle his affairs, so he took care of everything himself.”

Rachel Miller’s big brother passed away even earlier, naturally leaving no children behind.

Rachel Miller himself has not married to this day, so there’s even less talk of having children.
