CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 722: Chapter 730: About This Matter

The officer next to the group had already offered an explanation.

”This is what happened: This comrade saved the hostage at Shining Mansion, but the structure at the top of the building is a bit unusual. When he was bringing down the hostage, he held onto the hostage and rolled down from the top of the building, ending up impaled on a decorative pipe next to them, which directly pierced his arm.”

”Shining Mansion? Is that the one where someone was threatening to jump off the building and also held a child hostage, demanding a joint burial?” Quincy Forest followed up, ”I saw a video of it in the WhatsAPP group after I finished doing little Jane’s makeup! I heard that the person threatening to commit suicide by jumping did jump in the end.”

”Yes, that’s correct.” The officer nodded, ”We are lucky Mr. Black was able to save the child in time; the criminal died on impact after falling from the building.”

Jumping from the top of a high-rise building, indeed, tends to result in death on impact.

If it weren’t for James Black’s intervention, that hostage child would have fallen alongside the criminal, with similarly gruesome consequences.

”Wow! I saw messages in the group saying someone made a last-second rescue, pulling the child out of the criminal’s hands. I had no idea it was you, hero!” Quincy Forest raised her thumb in admiration at James Black and then hastily asked, ”Are you all right then?”

”Don’t worry, Mr. Black is fine,” the officer replied quickly. Knowing what kind of person Mr. Black was, they were more anxious than anyone.

If a scandal befell the son of a prominent family within their jurisdiction, it would spell disaster for all of them.

James Carter had been standing behind Jane Sampson all this time, and upon hearing this, he also breathed a sigh of relief.

”Jane, John Young originally wanted to come with us, but he has many obligations there, lots of guests to attend to, so he couldn’t make it. He asked me to apologize to you on his behalf, and he will visit your husband at the hospital tomorrow,” said James Carter.

”I must have ruined Brother Young’s premiere, didn’t I? I’m the one who should be saying sorry to him. I feel too ashamed to face Brother Young,” Jane Sampson was genuinely regretful and remorseful.

Yet, given another chance, her feet would still be immobile, unable to walk away.

”It’s okay, this was an unexpected accident, and it’s not your fault. John Young isn’t upset; in fact, he’s very concerned about both of you. You don’t need to hide away,” James Carter consoled, patting Jane Sampson’s shoulder, ”Don’t believe it? Wait until he comes tomorrow, then you’ll see.”

”Little Jane, don’t worry. Tonight’s premiere was truly a success. Even though you couldn’t go, John Young found a last-minute work partner, and Mr. Carter still performed on stage, even doing a duet! Then, when the video from the scene is released, you will know,” Quincy Forest excitedly grasped Jane Sampson’s hand and continued, ”You and Mr. Carter sang so beautifully, that theme song, it moved everyone to tears. Did you see? My eye makeup was all smudged from crying.”

”It’s very late, the patient needs to rest. Visitors can come back tomorrow,” a nurse, who had been waiting next to them, reminded the group visiting the patient.

It was only then that Jane Sampson came to her senses; the premiere had ended, and these people had hurried over, indeed, it was very late, and they must be tired as well.

”You should all head back to rest early, and Coco, you should go back to the hotel to rest too,” Jane Sampson said gratefully, ”Thank you all for coming to see James Black. I didn’t even prepare any water for you.”
