CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 45: Chapter 53: Why Should I Give It to You

Watching her fingers clutching the wallet rapidly point out a few mousses cakes, her other hand wasn’t idle either, lifting an ice cream that had only half left...

Ice cream.

James Black’s face immediately darkened, and without saying a word, he grabbed the half-eaten ice cream from Jane Sampson’s hand, raised his arm, and threw it. The half-eaten ice cream traced a perfect parabola in the air before landing immaculately in the trash can in the corner.

Jane Sampson was stunned for a second, her gaze foolishly fixated on the trash can for a long time, before she slowly turned back to look at James Black, the initiator who had thrown her beloved ice cream into the trash can.

It wasn’t at all surprising that the person standing behind her with a gloomy face was James Black, the only one who would dare snatch her favorite snacks from her hand and toss them into the trash can right in front of her.

Of course, in the entire world, Jane Sampson could only think of James Black as someone who would do something so outrageous.

”I should have eaten it faster,” Jane Sampson slowly turned around and sighed regretfully. She had thought that it would take James Black at least a few more minutes to pay, and even after paying, she didn’t think he would necessarily be able to find her.

She even doubted he would come looking for her, mostly assuming she had already taken a taxi home. Unexpectedly, this guy had actually come to find her, and so astonishingly fast.

Jane Sampson’s muttering did not miss a single word in James Black’s ears. James Black held back his temper; if Jane Sampson were Peter Gingery, she would probably have been dealt with by James Black by now.

He stood there and watched Jane Sampson pay for the cake, and when he saw that she had received the cake, she even bent down to pick up a bag filled with imported snacks beside her. James Black finally couldn’t hold back and said to Jane Sampson.

”Hand over your wallet,” James Black simply stretched out his hand.

”I won’t!” Jane Sampson held up her head and stood her ground against James Black. ”My wallet, why should I give it to you?”

”Eating ice cream during your period, Jane Sampson, I don’t know which words to use to praise you.” James Black snatched the small wallet from her hand without giving Jane a chance to argue and put it in his own pocket, then turned and left the shop first.

Jane Sampson hummed behind him, feeling smug in her heart. Just because he took away her wallet didn’t mean she had no other ways. In today’s world, what can’t be bought with a mobile phone?

Remembering the mobile phone still in her pocket, Jane Sampson wasn’t angry at all and quickly caught up with James Black ahead.

However, what Jane Sampson failed to anticipate was as she and James Black were leaving, a pair of aunties in their forties came into the shop, both loudly talking.

”Science is becoming more and more advanced nowadays, which is so convenient. Look, even if you leave your wallet at home, you can pay with your mobile phone,” Auntie A said.

”Isn’t that the truth? WhatsApp, Paypal, and even the bank’s mobile APP can make direct payments. When my beloved daughter taught me how to use them during her vacation, I found it magical. Back in our days, if you forgot your wallet when going out, you had to run all the way back home. At that time...”

Auntie B continued to complain about how underdeveloped transportation was when she was young.

Jane Sampson felt a chill run down her spine listening to this brief conversation.

When she noticed that James Black standing in front of her was staring at her, Jane Sampson silently counted to three in her heart and then took off running.

Although she was quick to react, she was no match for James Black’s speed. Just as she stepped outside the shop door, James Black reached out and grabbed the hood of her sweatshirt, pulling her back in.
