Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1276: Chapter 764: Sister Li’s Dilemma · Girls Should Be Gentle

“No…” Sister Li quickly wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and forced a smile, “I’m just envious of the Governor and the madam, Miss Ye’er and Young Master Feng are so filial, they are truly blessed.”

Luo Ye pondered briefly and looked at Wen Xin, “Mom, how long has it been since Sister Li went home?”

“It was my oversight. Sister Li has been here so long we’ve come to think of her as part of the family…” Wen Xin looked at Sister Li apologetically, “Sister Li, how about this, tomorrow I’ll have the driver take you back to your hometown, spend some time with the elders, and stay a few days.”

Sister Li quickly shook her hand, “Madam, Miss, there’s no need for that trouble. It’s not long until the New Year, I can go home after it’s over…”

Luo Ye interrupted her, “There’s still nearly a month until New Year. If you really miss home, then go back for a while. Dongdong is not coming back from school, you can just call him.”

“I’d better… forget it…” Sister Li looked a bit downcast, “Only my mother really misses me, my dad and brother and sister-in-law… don’t really want me to go back.”

Hearing her say this, Luo Ye frowned slightly, “Sister Li, is there something you’re keeping from us? Back when my brother and I visited your home, didn’t your dad, brother, and sister-in-law stop holding any grudge against you?”

Sister Li murmured softly, “No… there’s nothing I’m hiding.”

“Sister Li, you’ve been with our family for so long, and we’ve always regarded you as part of the family. If you keep your worries to yourself, that’s too distant, it’s hurtful.

You’re not someone who lies, so tell us what’s really going on, whether we can help or not, at least we can help you analyze the situation, right?”

After a brief hesitation, Sister Li finally spoke the truth.

It turned out that after Luo Ye and Luo Feng helped protect Dongdong, the Li family felt Sister Li had climbed a high branch in the city and treated her better than before.

However, they also began to have demands. They suggested Sister Li move the only Li family boy, Li Nianzu, to the city and find an easy, worry-free job for him.

Sister Li knew very well that as a housekeeper for the Governor’s family, she should never ask anyone for favors; moreover, Li Nianzu was only sixteen and hadn’t even graduated middle school. What sort of easy job could he possibly do? So, she flatly refused.

Because of this, Father Li and Brother Li and his wife felt that Sister Li had climbed high but cared nothing for her family at home, and their attitude toward her grew increasingly cold.

“Sister Li, why didn’t you tell us this sooner?” Wen Xin couldn’t help but scold, “How many times have I told you, since you’re part of this family, I treat you like my own little sister. But you always keep your distance, sigh…”

Sister Li, looking remorseful, defended herself, “Madam, I didn’t do it on purpose, it’s just I didn’t know how to say it, and I can’t always bother you with such trivial family matters…”

Wen Xin quickly cut her off, “What’s there to bother about? It’s just arranging a light job. Wenxin Garden happens to need security, let him come.

I know why you didn’t speak up, worried it would affect Ye’er’s father, but you forget, our family has its own company; finding a few extra positions is no problem at all.

For such a small issue, to end up not seeing your mother, it isn’t worth it. Having someone who cares about you in life, that’s a blessing, you can’t leave regrets for yourself.”

“Mom…” Luo Ye looked earnestly at Wen Xin, “I agree with Sister Li telling us the situation, but I don’t agree with placing Li Nianzu at Wenxin Garden.

A small favor breeds resentment. With the temperament of Sister Li’s brother and sister-in-law, if Li Nianzu actually becomes a security guard, what good will it do for Sister Li in the long run?”

Wen Xin pondered for a moment and sighed lightly, “That’s true, if they know whom Sister Li works for, they will certainly be dissatisfied with the guard job and it won’t end well.”

“So…” Luo Ye paused, emphasizing, “Sister Li made the right choice by refusing what she couldn’t do, and I appreciate that.

But Sister Li, you should tell us the truth. This way, if you see Granny Li, my mom can advise you, right, Mom?”

“Right.” Wen Xin nodded, “Ye’er’s grandpa and Aunt Li can definitely chat, every month or half a month bring her over to stay a short while, wouldn’t that be great?”

“How could that work?” Sister Li shook her head repeatedly, “Given the Governor’s status here, we already benefit enough, how can we act against the norms?”

“Sister Li, I recognized Grandpa Liu and Granny Liu, do you think that is against the norms?”

“This…” Sister Li was at a loss for words.

“Generally speaking, families in politics do have many formalities, but ours is an exception; my dad reached where he is today through his own capability plus a bit of luck and assistance.

So, whether it’s him or us, we hope everyone in the family can happily live the life they want.

Therefore, to make Grandpa happy, whenever I meet a kind-hearted and interesting elder, I’d hope they’d openly come over to spend time with Grandpa.

And Sister Li, diligently caring for this family, we hope you can live happily here without worries, not secretly crying alone at night.

All of this is premised on the fact that we have the capability to do so! Since we can, we should make everything more complete, right?”

“Thank you, Miss Ye’er.” Sister Li burst into tears, bowing to Luo Ye, “Being able to meet Miss Ye’er, I…”

Luo Ye quickly cut her off, “Don’t say it’s a blessing or luck or anything, it’s mutual.”

“Exactly, having you at home every day makes me feel at ease too.” Wen Xin laughed, handing a clean towel to Sister Li, “Go wash your face, Grandpa Liu and Granny Liu will be back soon, thinking we must be having a big fight at home.”

Luo Ye glanced at the time; the three elders have been at the garden for two hours, yet there’s no trace of them! She shook her head helplessly, “Grandpa’s been infected by Grandpa Song. As long as someone praises his vegetables, he forgets the time, I’ll go check.”

In the front right corner of the residential compound, a small piece of land was specially cleared and divided into plots for each household’s leisure time.

On the way to the garden, Luo Ye met Jing Chen again. He was walking and chatting with a girl, but upon seeing her, his lips twitched, and he turned his face to one side.

“Jing Chen, still holding a grudge?” Luo Ye didn’t let him off, deliberately greeting him.

“No.” Jing Chen responded sulkily, and continued walking forward.

“Song Qiu.” Luo Ye called softly, and Song Qiu immediately ran in front of Jing Chen, blocking his path. Wherever he tried to walk, it blocked, leaving Jing Chen helpless and frowning as he glanced at Luo Ye, “You’re a lady, can’t you be a bit more ladylike?”
