Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 664: Chapter 389

Ye Xuan’s desk was neatly arranged, with materials and books orderly stacked in the small file cabinet at the upper right corner, and directly in front of him was a wooden photo frame, naturally containing a photo of him and Lady Luo.

Luo Ye picked up the photo frame and examined it closely, her lips curving into a smile. The photo was taken by the photographer who had been helping her with her ID photos, which she hadn’t seen before.

There she was, cutely snuggling against his chest, while he gazed at her, his eyes brimming with deep affection. The faint dimples on her cheeks, her beauty soft and demure, anyone seeing this photo would feel the strong affection flowing between the two.

The photographer’s skills were indeed not bad, not only capturing them without distortion, but also fully exhibiting their temperaments. The timing of the candid snap was perfect, it seems they might bring Star Manipulating Moonlight for a visit in the future.

After putting back the photo frame, Luo Ye glanced around the room. Her gaze landed on a drawer left slightly ajar. Hesitating for a moment, she pulled it open.

On top was an album. She curiously took it out and flipped open the first page, to her surprise, there were two chubby bare-bottomed babies.

”Pfft!” Luo Ye couldn’t help but laugh, not expecting Handsome Ye would carry photos of his naked childhood around. Looking closer, her smile suddenly froze—the baby on the right, why did it look so familiar?

She quickly turned to the second page. Still photos of two kids, one on each side, much bigger than the first. The one on the left was unmistakably Ye Xuan, but the one on the right... somehow... resembled her?

With that thought, she flipped through the pages rapidly. After a few more, she understood; this album was essentially a growth record of her and Ye Xuan, with a photo for each year—her always on the right, him on the left.

When she reached the seventeenth page, it was filled to the brim, Ye Xuan’s six photos surrounding her single one. Beyond that, a stack of blank paper awaited—she roughly counted over 80 pages.

The question was, when had her photos ended up in Ye Xuan’s hands? Besides, many of the photos she had never seen herself.

Luo Ye flipped through the album again, pouting. Except for the first one, the photo taken when she was three during a bath, her eyes full of splashy tears, bare-bottomed and dripping wet... this... this...

Without even having to ask, Luo Ye knew it was definitely Mom’s doing. She took out her phone and dialed Wen Xin’s number. Before she could say a word, Wen Xin’s cheerful voice came through: ”Ye’er, finished your exams? Missing Mom?”

”Mom...” Luo Ye hummed in a drawn-out tone.

”What’s wrong?” Wen Xin was confused. ”Did Mom do something to upset Ye’er? Or did someone else vex our little Ye?”

”Photos...” Luo Ye hinted.

”Photos? What photos?” Wen Xin still didn’t catch on.

Luo Ye’s face showed helplessness: ”The photos from my birth to now, so many stuck in the album, weren’t they given to Ye Xuan by Mom?”

”Oh... that...” Wen Xin suddenly realized and laughed: ”That is the growth album Mom made, one for Feng’er and one for Ye’er, starting from birth, sticking one photo every year. Feng’er’s are always on the left while Ye’er’s are on the right.

When Mom was making these albums, she thought that when you find someone you like, she’d gift the album to them so they could fill in the missing places with their own growth photos.

Later, every year you’d add photos of you both, then when you’re old and surrounded by children and grandchildren, you can take it out and reminisce together. Isn’t Mom’s idea creative?”

”Creative, super creative,” Luo Ye muttered, secretly puzzled why she hadn’t known about this in her past life. Though touched by Mom’s sentimentality, she couldn’t help but mutter discontentedly, ”You even stuck a photo of me at three with a bare bottom, was that the only photo taken when I was three?”

Wen Xin laughed joyfully: ”That photo was meticulously chosen by Mom, look how funny your expression is, bathing as if feeling so aggrieved, as if being threatened by a knife...”

”Mom, how could you do that?” Luo Ye complained resentfully, ”I was already three years old, taking such photos is too embarrassing.”

”It’s fine, who hasn’t been bare-bottomed as a child? Hasn’t worn split-crotch pants? But...” Wen Xin paused momentarily, a hint of regret in her voice: ”Mom really didn’t think this through, not yet married and I’ve let that youngster see our Ye’er’s little body...”

Listening to Wen Xin’s murmuring, Luo Ye was at a loss for words. Thankfully these photos were given to Ye Xuan by Mom; if it had been someone else, one could only imagine how much more she’d be mortified.
