Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 714: Chapter 424: Punishment for Acting on His Own

On the highway to Island City, Wuping was hunched over, constantly making phone calls. Ye Xuan glanced at him with confusion, ”Wuping, who are you calling?”

”Boss... Boss...” Wuping sat up straight, timidly looking at Ye Xuan, ”I... I made a mistake.”

”What happened?” Ye Xuan still sounded calm.

”I... I... I called the little sister-in-law...” Wuping said, stealing glances at Ye Xuan, ”But, before I could finish, she hung up...”

Ye Xuan’s brow furrowed, ”What did you say?”

”I was thinking of starting from the beginning about our experiences, but before I could finish, the little sister-in-law became anxious and I couldn’t get through to her anymore.” Wuping’s face was grim, ”Boss, I really didn’t mean to do it, can you... can you please not be angry?”

”You were trying to see if Ye’er cares about me, right?” Ye Xuan, infuriated, knocked on his head, ”I know all about your little tricks. Deserving a beating, you!”

”Boss... I... I know I was wrong, we all think the boss is too good to the little sister-in-law, we wanted to see if she feels the same about you... We... We just want to see you happy.”

”When did I become Lin Daiyu? Needing you guys to test me like this?” Ye Xuan was so angry that his eyes turned red, ”What if something happened to Ye’er, I... I...”

Wuping quickly intervened, ”Then I wouldn’t want to live either!”

”You...” Ye Xuan pointed at him, ”Just not living is enough for you?”

”Then... what should I do, please command, boss.” Wuping was nearly crying, he hated himself so much, he didn’t realize how much Luo Ye cared about the boss, and what he said was the truth, who could have known that... it was cut off before he finished?

Ye Xuan, almost roaring, commanded the driver, ”Yu Miaogang, speed up.”

”Yes, boss!” The driver responded, and the car almost soared away, causing the other vehicles on the road to feel a shadow flash by...

”Boss...” Wuping watched Ye Xuan anxiously, awaiting his verdict.

Ye Xuan waved his hand, ”Forget it, your intentions were good. With Ye’er’s skills, she should be safe. Let’s wait for her at the airport entrance. Given the timing, we should be able to intercept her.”

...

Throughout the trip, Luo Ye felt anxious like boiling water. Wuping had said they were ambushed after leaving the Qiao Family, and Ye Xuan was shot in the chest while saving a team member... He absolutely couldn’t have anything happen to him!

Had he finished the surgery? Was there any danger? Did he think of her when he was saving that team member? If it were her, she would have believed she would have saved them too, but... but...

Throughout the journey, she felt this tangled unsureness, never had she found the traffic lights so annoying, if it weren’t for the last bit of rationality controlling her, she would have recklessly dashed through them.

Finally, as she saw the giant airport signage, she floored the accelerator, and the car zoomed off like a hurricane.

Abruptly, her foot eased off the pedal, and there at the entrance stood a tall figure - could it be him? Could it be she was seeing things?

Incredulously rubbing her eyes, everything was still so clear, she rapidly pulled the car over to the side of the road, and rushed toward him.

The tenderness and joy in the other person’s eyes were clearly visible!

”Ye’er!” Ye Xuan stepped forward and embraced her, ”Did I scare you?”

Her hand reached up to his cheek, gently touching, ”Is this real? Or am I dreaming? Wuping said... What on earth is going on?”

”Little sister-in-law, I’m sorry.” Wuping nears, sheepishly mumbling, ”I... I didn’t finish, and you rushed off.”

”What?” Luo Ye stared blankly at both.

Ye Xuan quickly explained, ”I was indeed shot, at that time, it indeed scared them all, such a close range, even wearing a bulletproof vest can’t guarantee safety.

But some things are really preordained. Before I left, I specially placed a jade pendant in my pocket, the same one as Ye’er, it cushioned the impact of the bullet, the pendant shattered, but I was unharmed.”

Luo Ye cried while hitting Ye Xuan, ”Annoying, you scared me to death, he told me the bullet hit right at the chest, my mind exploded at that moment, I couldn’t think.”

”That kid really deserves a beating, he did it on purpose, he was trying to test you...”

Ye Xuan hadn’t finished when Luo Ye, with a howl, dashed at Wuping, swinging her fist, ”Testing, I’ll let you test, you test again...”

”Little sister-in-law, I realize my mistake, I won’t dare again, I swear, whatever you command in the future, I will obey, you and the boss have the same place in my heart.”

”That’s also not acceptable, how can it be so simple to let you off, do you know how fast I drove here, I don’t even know how many fines I’ll get, my points are almost deducted, tell me, what should we do?”

Luo Ye’s words made both Ye Xuan and Liang Wuping somewhat unable to cry or laugh. So it seems they are worrying about the driving license points...

”Sister-in-law, deduct my points, deduct mine...”

Liang Wuping shouted while running.

”Do you have a regular driving license? I have a dual license, does yours allow point deduction?” Luo Ye caught up with Liang Wuping and started a furious beating with punches and kicks...

The other few team members in the car couldn’t bear to watch and covered their eyes, occasionally glancing back at Ye Xuan, their eyes clearly filled with sympathy and pity...

Ye Xuan glared at them, and they quickly looked down, a perfect picture of prayerful devotion.

”Hands off your head!” Luo Ye commanded as she yanked Liang Wuping’s hands off his head, ”When you make a mistake, you must face the punishment. Where can you hide?”

”Boss...” Liang Wuping whimpered pitifully, almost begging for his life. Fighting back was not an option, and yet, his little sister-in-law’s punches were so fierce, each hit painfully stinging his body.

”Serves you right!” Ye Xuan added fuel to the fire, ”Ye’er, it’s all his own doing. Hit him hard, if he breaks, I’ll cover the medical bills!”

Everyone: ”...”

...

On the way back to the city, Ye Xuan, sitting next to a silent Luo Ye, nervously asked, ”Ye’er, are you mad at me?”

Luo Ye glanced sideways at him, sighing, ”I know, you can’t tell me because of principles, but it just makes me uncomfortable.”

”Ye’er.” Ye Xuan gently embraced her, ”I’m sorry, I thought about telling you, but I was worried if that Old Fox could see through it, which might actually put Ye’er in real danger, so...”

”Forget it, I understand all that, but I need time to process it, right?” Luo Ye leaned into his embrace, sighing softly, ”Maybe I’m asking for too much. From now on, do what you must, don’t break the rules because of me.”

”Thank you, Ye’er.” Ye Xuan’s chin rested on her head as he whispered, ”Everything, is under our control, in the future, some things won’t change, and they won’t harm Ye’er in any way. You must believe, I will always prioritize your future.”

”I believe.” Luo Ye smiled beautifully, ”I bet, right now Liang Wuping must be driving while mumbling, believe it or not?”

Ye Xuan chuckled and turned on the intercom switch.

”Mean boss, mean sister-in-law, turning someone’s handsome face into this mess, what if it scars? How will he find a girlfriend? You only care about your own good looks, boss, hmm, be careful one day, you also get beaten up like this, haha...”

”Wuping, well said.”

The rambling in the intercom stopped abruptly, then after a moment, Liang Wuping’s ”hehe” came: ”Boss, sister-in-law, I, I was just joking, hehe...”

Luo Ye giggled, ”Continue, keep joking, once we reach the destination, we’ll have a one-on-one practice.”

Liang Wuping: ”...” secretly thought, Oh my god, what a wife the boss has found, how can she be so serious, so fierce, so...

”Ye’er, once we settle everything in Island City, I’m going back to Beijing to confront that great crocodile. Do you want to come with me?”

Luo Ye nodded, ”I’ll go with you, I want to know why he is targeting our family specifically.”

”Actually, he’s not just targeting Uncle Luo, he’s too keen on Wen Family’s good fortune, thus repeatedly using underhanded methods to achieve his own goals.

The older and higher level people get, sometimes the more unreasonable their thoughts become. Think about it, is there really eternal life in this world? If that were possible, then everyone in the Wen Family should be immortal.”

”I can’t believe it, ah, I always thought he just liked to put on airs.” Luo Ye suddenly patted her forehead, ”It’s so disappointing, I thought he really appreciated my capabilities, encouraging me to join, but it turns out he had ulterior motives, sigh!”

”He actually does appreciate your abilities, it’s because of his fear, he wants to keep you in sight. That lenient policy, naturally, is to attract Ye’er.”

”You still encourage me to agree?” Luo Ye gave him a look.

”This team won’t have any issues, the selection process is well-established. After he leaves, it’s supposed to be Director Lei taking over. Ye’er, staying there is ultimately good.” Ye Xuan soothingly patted her head, ”Didn’t you just say you wouldn’t blame me? You little troublemaker!”

”Alright, I forgive you. What about Uncle Jiang?” Luo Ye looked at Ye Xuan expectantly, ”Will Uncle Jiang also enter the Fierce Tiger?”

”It’s not very likely for now. The actual purpose of establishing Fierce Tiger was to stabilize the Old Fox, otherwise, why would General Xia allow him to poach his people?

In other words, he can achieve the conditions, so can Team A, everything is just Smoke and Mirrors. In the end, all this still belongs to Team A.” Ye Xuan caressed Luo Ye’s head, ”At that time, I also hesitated whether to tell you the truth, but, if people knew the details of the situation, they surely wouldn’t act the same way, even if Ye’er is clever, I didn’t want to take the risk!”

Luo Ye nodded, ”I understand, I won’t blame you.”
