Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 256: Chapter 151: Strangers Upon Meeting_2

”If you don’t smack him, I will. I’d definitely knock him out with a sucker punch if I got the chance!” Xing Nong said viciously, brandishing her tiny fist with full gusto.

Tang Luo chuckled, poking her delicate and fair wrist: ”Tsk tsk... Just be careful you don’t get knocked out in return!”

”You underestimate people, have no sympathy, I...”

Luo Ye quickly intervened to stop the squabble before it started again, ”Stop the fussing. Once we’ve eaten our fill let’s head out. How about everyone goes to the master’s place tomorrow for a barbecue? Let my brother and Fu Mo handle the grilling, and we’ll take care of the eating, how does that sound?”

”No problem!” Xing Nong was the first to raise her hand: ”As long as it’s meat, I like it. My grandma cooks with such precision, she might as well measure the oil with a gauge, and she cuts the meat so finely too, it’s just not satisfying enough!

She also lectures me about staying healthy from a young age, worrying about getting ’the three highs’ when I’m old. Doesn’t she know that ’eating’ is one of the joys of my life? What’s the point of living to two hundred years if I can’t enjoy food?”

Ying Nuo laughed: ”Xing Nong, you have quite the grievance, huh? Your grandma was a military doctor, right?”

”Correct, but sadly no prize for you. Let me tell you, my grandpa also secretly eats meat outside and I’ve caught him in the act before, ah ha ha...”

”Just by looking at your smug face, it’s obvious you’ve been blackmailing your grandpa. You’re grinning so wide your gums are showing. Tone it down a bit, Dongdong’s looking at you like you’re a little madman.”

”Tangtang, you and I are irreconcilable!”

...

As they were leaving, Luo Ye and others bumped into Yin Dejiu, who greeted them with a chuckling smile: ”Fellow students, are you satisfied with our food and service?”

”Not bad!” Fu Mo nodded slightly, glancing at the other party: ”Is this restaurant a franchise of Liangyou Chain, or is it directly invested in by Liangyou?”

Yin Dejiu paused, ”Is there a problem?”

”We are students from Q University, and your place is close by, so we were thinking of coming here often to enjoy a meal. We’ve heard Liangyou has a set of discount measures based on the amount of one-time prepaid deposits determining future consumption discounts. It’s a good and money-saving method. But it’s still better to ask clearly, Boss Yin understands, right?”

Fu Mo’s dress and demeanor naturally made his words convincing. The minimum amount for Liangyou’s prepaid deposit is 5888, so why wouldn’t they welcome such a customer?

Yin Dejiu quickly put on a flattering smile: ”Don’t worry, little brother. This restaurant is jointly funded by me and the Liangyou Group; they are the major shareholder. The monk may run away, but the temple can’t run, can it?”

”Daddy!” Accompanied by a clear child’s voice, a little girl about four or five years old rushed over. Yin Dejiu quickly crouched to embrace her.

Luo Ye distinctly felt Dongdong grip his hand and tremble. He sneaked a glance, and saw a hint of envy in the little guy’s eyes. Indeed, which child wouldn’t want a parent’s love? The fact that he could remember Yin Dejiu’s face so clearly showed that, although he disliked this man, deep down he was longing for a father’s love.

”Smack! Smack! Smack!” The little girl’s chubby hands slapped Yin Dejiu’s face, ”Bad daddy, drinking so much again, it stinks. Let me down now!”

Embarrassed, Yin Dejiu put down his daughter and said with a smile: ”This is my daughter, Zijiao. She’s been spoiled by my wife. Little brother, how about we handle the discount today? I’ll give you a special case, an 80% discount, and the food will be at its usual discount, how about that?”

”Let’s go.” Luo Ye, leading Dongdong, turned and walked away. The little girl curiously sized up Dongdong as they left; Luo Ye didn’t want to cause unnecessary trouble, after all, this was Sister Li’s private matter.

”Why... why did they all leave?” Yin Dejiu watched their figures quickly disappear outside the door, looking utterly dejected. His restaurant used to do really well but in the last couple of years, several mid-to-large size hotels opened nearby, so formal gatherings no longer came to his small restaurant.

Relying only on lunchtime business couldn’t even cover the costs. Out of desperation, he and his wife had to ask friends for help to join the Liangyou Chain. After all, with that brand, even if the scale is small, regular banquets would still come to them.

For this matter, his father-in-law fell out with him, and only after a lot of apologies did his father-in-law agree, on the condition that the monthly turnover wasn’t less than half of what it used to be at its busiest.

This was also why he was so keen to drink and build relationships with each private room. He had always been of low status in his father-in-law’s family, and he was determined to seize this opportunity to make a statement. Moreover, which daughter his father-in-law preferred was extremely important!

”Dejiu, what are you looking at?” Yin Dejiu’s current wife—Li Xiaoyan, walked over with a not-so-gloomy expression.
