Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 295: Chapter 169-170: Unexpected Encounter / Confrontation

”You actually don’t like my brother?”

”Ah?” Luo Ye looked at Ye Qingzhu blankly as she was brought into the office. Ye Qingzhu had been staring at her for a long while and then suddenly came out with that statement, which even someone as smart as her couldn’t comprehend what kind of trick the other person was playing.

”It’s quite simple, you must be aware that I am Ye Xuan’s sister, and if you liked him, you probably should feel a bit embarrassed or eager to please under my gaze, right?” Ye Qingzhu’s lips curled into a faint smile.

”Instructors should smile more.” Since the other party was talking about personal matters, Luo Ye also had no reservations. Ye Qingzhu’s smile, pure and fresh like the flowers of a bamboo tree, made people instinctively want to draw closer and appreciate it.

”You really are different from others, no wonder Brother Ye would help you that way.” Ye Qingzhu pointed to the chair across from her: ”Sit down.”

Luo Ye showed a mischievous smile: ”I am currently working, aren’t you afraid of people gossiping, Instructor?”

Ye Qingzhu raised her eyebrows: ”I am an Instructor, specifically responsible for students’ political and ideological work, is this against my job description?”

”Not at all!” Luo Ye sat down across from Ye Qingzhu without hesitation, curious about what the other party meant by seeking her out. Based on Ye Qingzhu’s attitude, it didn’t seem like she meant to make things difficult, but still...

”What do you think about me choosing Yu Na as the acting class president?” Ye Qingzhu’s expression became serious.

Luo Ye shook her head: ”I don’t mind.”

”Oh?” Ye Qingzhu looked incredulous.

”It’s true, I don’t mind.”

Ye Qingzhu stared at Luo Ye for a good while and then nodded: ”I believe you, but from what I know, you don’t seem to be the type that can be indifferent.”

”Even if I do care, there’s no need to compete over everything, right? In future studies and training, I believe the leaders and classmates will give me a fair assessment. What’s mine can’t be taken away by anyone!”

”I like this attitude of yours!” Ye Qingzhu slapped Luo Ye’s shoulder: ”In the days to come, I won’t give you the slightest bit of preferential treatment, and I might even be stricter with you than with other students. I hope you won’t misunderstand and think I’m targeting you on purpose.”

Luo Ye’s eyes widened in sudden realization: ”Is it because I saw you chatting with Qi Qianqian and Second Aunt Qi?”

”That’s part of it. Aunt Qi indeed said a bunch of bad things about you, that you’re arrogant, haughty, rude, lack manners, have a dark heart... and so on. I won’t list them all. She’s been thinking about getting Qi Qianqian married into the Ye Family for more than a day or two. The news about you being Brother Ye’s fiancée is like a thorn in her throat, so she thought to use me against you, thinking I’m a fool?

The Ye Family and the Qi Family interact frequently because of Brother Ye and Qi Bin, but I always maintain a reserved attitude toward Aunt Qi...” Ye Qingzhu smiled lightly: ”I don’t appreciate talking behind people’s backs. I was so abrupt because I am the closest with Brother Ye since childhood, I don’t want any misunderstandings with you to upset him. It’s better to have it out in the open.”

”Oh...” Luo Ye scratched her head embarrassedly: ”You must clearly understand that my relationship with Brother Ye is not at all what everyone has been saying.”

”I’m telling you this because I want you to win your place on your own merits!”

”Oh, I’m not that petty!” A thought crossed Luo Ye’s mind in frustration; was this a sign that she was to be specifically nurtured?

”Uh... tell me the truth, don’t you have any feelings for my brother at all?”

”Ah?” Looking at Ye Qingzhu, suddenly switching to the gossipy girl mode, Luo Ye was in disarray.

”Can you not overreact? It’s normal to be curious; besides, my brother has never been moved by any girl before, except he is so good to you and helps you so much. I seriously suspect there’s something fishy. He won’t admit it when I ask him, but sooner or later, I will get it out of him!”

Luo Ye almost reached a state of petrification, and Ye Qingzhu cleared her throat: ”Don’t worry, I only talk to you like this when nobody’s around. Think about it, the rules and regulations of the military academy students are so strict, how can I maintain authority over everyone if I’m always laughing and joking? Long live understanding!”

”But...” Luo Ye hesitated slightly: ”We’ve only just met for the first time, why would you trust me?”

Ye Qingzhu smiled mischievously: ”I trust Brother Ye’s judgment; the girl he is willing to help can’t be wrong!”

Luo Ye’s heart skipped a beat and her eyes dimmed; when had she ever trusted her brother like this? Compared to Ye Qingzhu, she really wasn’t a good sister!

”Did I say something wrong?” Ye Qingzhu was bewildered; her words weren’t hurtful, were they?
