Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 184: Chapter 121: A Chance Encounter

”Dad, can’t you stop looking at people through tinted glasses?” Fan Rui’s face turned red with anger. ”I didn’t get the opportunity through messy relationships, so why look down on me?”

”Alright, it’s a happy day, it’s Dad’s birthday. Let’s not argue about this anymore.” Fan Zhe glanced at his watch. ”They should be arriving soon. Xiao Rui, give a little face, will you? Don’t be so uptight. I’ll go check outside.”

Fan Jiaxiang glanced at Fu Mo, who was reading documents next to the coffee table, and poked her daughter with frustration, ”Even the young master is a year younger than you. Look at what he’s achieved and then think about what you’ve done. Aren’t you ashamed?”

Fan Rui pouted her lips but didn’t say much. Compared to Fu Mo, she admitted that she was far from his level, which is why she desperately chased after.

But she was simply not interested in economics and finance. She tried hard, but no matter how much she pushed herself, she couldn’t learn it. Thus, when a talent scout discovered her and an opportunity presented itself, she felt she finally found a direction for her efforts!

She understood her father’s concerns, but she thought, many stars have married into wealthy families, why couldn’t she? As long as she worked hard to become an international super star, she didn’t believe Fu Mo would scorn her!

A gentle knock on the door suddenly sounded, and then the door opened. Fan Jiaxiang thought it was a staff member and called out to Fu Mo, ”Young Master, don’t be busy, hey! How busy you are yet you still celebrate my birthday.”

”Fu Mo?” Tang Luo stepped in just in time to meet Fu Mo’s gaze at the table, sizing up everyone in the room. She looked skeptically at her aunt. Please, don’t make such a big mistake!

Tang Tang, seeing Tang Luo’s expression, understood what the girl was thinking, glared at her, and walked up to Fan Jiaxiang with a gift, ”Uncle Fan, happy birthday, sorry for the delay!”

Fan Jiaxiang stood up and took the gift, ”Not late at all! Tang Tang, you’re too polite. By the way, Fan Zhe went to look for you, didn’t you meet him?”

”We came up from the underground parking lot by elevator, probably missed each other...”

Tang Luo sighed in relief. Damn, that scared me! I thought my aunt had taken a much younger lover!

Having been around Tang Luo for so long, Fu Mo somewhat understood her personality. Seeing her expression, he immediately realized what was happening, and a deep smile welled up in his eyes, ”Tangtang, come sit by me.”

”Pfft!” Fan Rui, who had been sipping tea and observing the new arrivals, spat out her tea. I mean, that’s his future sister-in-law, right? What’s he planning by calling her over so endearingly?

Ye Fanghua quickly pinched her son.

Fan Jiaxiang asked with confusion, ”Young Master, do you know Tang Tang?”

Tang Tang herself was also staring at Fu Mo in surprise. She didn’t remember this handsome man?

Fu Mo immediately realized there was a misunderstanding and quickly smiled, pointing at Tang Luo, ”The Tangtang I was referring to is Tang Luo. We’re classmates and also very good friends.”

Tang Tang helplessly rubbed her forehead, that’s right. Tang Luo had told her, because of Luo Ye, everyone at school refers to her as Tangtang. Now, she and her niece shared the same name!

Fan Jiaxiang laughed heartily as he greeted, ”Tang Luo, thank you for attending Grandpa’s birthday.”

”Grandpa is too polite, it’s what I should do!” Tang Luo fiercely pinched her aunt from behind.

I mean, I was excitedly waiting for my aunt, only to be told she was taking me to her future husband’s father’s birthday party. I was not happy at first. They’re basically saying we’ve already met the parents without telling me; isn’t that a bit too secretive?

Then they told me, I’ve already met the parents a long time ago, they just didn’t want me to dine alone at home, and they thought this significant occasion was a good time to introduce me to both sides so that in the future, when we meet, we would know we’re related.

Suddenly, I realized a problem. Did Grandpa and Grandma know? Had they agreed?

My aunt confidently told me that the family was still kept in the dark, planning to break the news afterwards. This was because she had seen too many unhappy marriages due to the so-called ’compatible social status,’ too many superficial relationships maintained with effort, and she had decided that even if it meant giving up her inheritance, she wanted a happy marriage.

No matter how much I asked about the man’s situation, my aunt would not say, telling me to see for myself and then tell her my first impression. Righteously, she said it concerned my future happiness, advising me to observe carefully.

With my aunt saying all this, there’s no need to ask. For sure, my future uncle must be from an ordinary family, probably with an ordinary job too. What ’careful observation’? Clearly, she’s just dragging me down with her, making me take part of the blame, hmph!

Love is indeed poison. My aunt, who is so astute and never hides anything from me, kept this from me for so long. It breaks my heart!
