Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 165: Chapter 110-111: Vacation / Serendipitous Encounter_3

”Xiao Luo, did you see that? Wouldn’t it be great if our two families could become one?” Grandpa Liu suddenly made such a remark that baffled everyone until Grandpa Luo chuckled and responded that he wouldn’t meddle in the children’s affairs, then everyone understood that the Xiao Luo mentioned by Mr. Liu was Grandpa Luo.

”Dad, didn’t we agree? Ye’er is already engaged to the Ye Family, so please don’t make it difficult for Uncle Luo.” Liu Zhengxing apologized as he looked toward Luo Baoku: ”Uncle Luo, my dad has been straightforward all his life, please don’t take it to heart.”

Grandpa Luo smiled and waved his hand: ”I know, I’ve known him for more than just a day.”

”Xiao Luo, now that it’s like this, I’ll speak frankly. Look, Zhenggang achieved what he has today, and Zhengxing also helped out a lot. Although they don’t share the same surname, both children are from the ’Zheng’ generation. It’s only right that they help each other, and it’s even more proper to show gratitude and repay kindness, don’t you think so, Zhenggang?” Mr. Liu said as he looked at Luo Zhenggang, waiting for his reply.

Luo Zhenggang quickly expressed his stance: ”Uncle Liu, I know that Secretary helped me a lot, and I will repay him.”

”That’s good. But you kept the Wen Family matter secret for so long, that’s not right. There are some things that Zhengxing struggles to do, yet for your father-in-law, it’s just a simple gesture. Don’t you trust us or what...”

Liu Zhengxing interrupted Mr. Liu: ”Dad, what are you talking about? It’s not that Zhenggang doesn’t trust us. Being such a proud man, of course he wants to hold his own in front of his father-in-law. Didn’t we already explain this to you? Why are you bringing it up again?”

”You said what you said, but I want to hear it personally from Zhenggang.” Mr. Liu looked at Luo Zhenggang: ”Tell Uncle the truth, is it as Zhengxing said?”

”Yes.” Luo Zhenggang glanced at Wen Xin with regret: ”Having Wen Xin marry me is indeed asking her to lower her standards. I must fight for her dignity, right?”

”Zhenggang, don’t say it like that. It’s not easy for you either.” Wen Xin said while holding Nie Cui’s hand: ”Sister-in-law, he always feels that he’s wronging me, sigh!” Her eyes then reddened.

”Alright, alright, it’s not easy for our two families to get together like this. Let’s not talk about these, let’s talk about happy things...” Liu Zhengxing quickly changed the subject, while Luo Ye’s downcast eyes flashed with irony. Does this mean they are reassured now?

Fortunately, mom and dad didn’t want outsiders to know about this matter, and cooperated tacitly, otherwise that old fox might really see through everything.

...

At ten o’clock in the morning.

Everyone was fishing, and Luo Ye was strolling along the seaside with Song Qiu and Dou Dou. At this hour, only those with extraordinary status and position would come to Qianhai Resort; ordinary tourists would go to the pier or the first and second beach to play, so the beach was very sparsely populated.

Luo Feng wanted to accompany her but was sent to accompany Grandpa instead, assigned a task to observe others’ conversations and tell her later. She truly did not want to face those extremely disgusting hypocritical faces.

”Ye’er, are you angry?” Liu Xing caught up with her.

”Not at all. I’m just not interested in fishing.” Luo Ye smiled faintly, grateful to him but did not want to get too involved with him.

”Ye’er...” Liu Xing hesitated: ”I want to explain something. My liking for you didn’t start after seeing how beautiful you are, but before that.

Back then, you were always timid and dared not speak loudly to anyone. I thought to myself that when I grow up, I must protect you, so you won’t be afraid anymore.

But, before I could even speak, there came the proposal from the Yang Family, followed by the Ye Family. Being born into such a family, I understand that some things are not up to us to decide. But Ye’er, please don’t keep your distance from me, okay?”

”Liu Xing, you’re overthinking it. I’ve always been like this.” Luo Ye shifted the topic: ”By the way, which university are you planning to apply to?”

”What about you?” Liu Xing looked at her expectantly.

”Military school, I guess.” Since it had already spread, Luo Ye no longer hid it.

”Then I’ll apply to a military school too.”

”Liu Xing, don’t change your original decision on account of me.” Luo Ye looked at him seriously: ”We’re not children anymore. We can’t let emotions sway our judgment.”

”Not at all. I had this intention all along, but I hadn’t made up my mind. You just helped me decide.” Liu Xing sighed softly: ”Having known you for so many years, I won’t hide it from you. I really can’t stand some of the things my father and elder brother do, so I’m definitely not going into politics.

I have an innate admiration for the military. My hesitation was rooted in the fear of my father’s interference. I didn’t want people to say that I got in because of my father’s influence.

Actually, when I think about it, as long as I meet the score requirements, why worry so much? I didn’t choose to be his son, but if I can’t even choose my own path in the future, that would be truly sad.”
