She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 1685: Chapter 1762: Obey Orders

”Report your situation!” Shen Jianguo said in an official manner.

”Damn... I’m the Captain, you’re the Squad Leader, and you want me to report to you?” Chen Yingjie exclaimed on the phone. His voice was so loud that everyone heard it. Their expressions were strange, and those who dared not laugh were particularly uncomfortable holding it in.

Shen Jianguo’s face instantly darkened, but he was always good-tempered and the most rule-abiding person. Chen Yingjie currently outranked him and made a valid point.

”Sorry, Captain, I should be reporting to you.” Shen Jianguo’s tone didn’t change, which made Chen Yingjie feel embarrassed instead.

Forget it, he thought. There’s no point in arguing with a stiff. Shen Jianguo indeed had no clue about their situation here. If he didn’t speak up, they’d be left in the dark.

”Withdraw back! Take care of those annoying flies along the way, we’ll be right behind you.”

”How many of you are there? Any injuries?” Before the meeting, the President was most concerned about this.

”Three people, no wait...” Chen Yingjie’s tone turned murderous when he thought of the Little Hooligan, ”It’s four. The main team has me and Renault. Then there’s also Qin Yue. Make sure you have ropes and handcuffs ready. As soon as we cross the Heihe, tie this bastard up for me.”

This time, Shen Jianguo didn’t ask and simply said, ”Okay, no problem, Captain Chen, we’ll withdraw first and keep in touch.”

”Mm!”

After hanging up the phone, Shen Jianguo quickly arranged the retreat while leaving two guns and a hundred rounds of ammunition at this secret resting point. He then led everyone through the wind and snow in retreat.

It was freezing cold, and stopping might mean passing out from the cold, so he had to hurry. The closer they got to Heihe, the milder the temperature got, and people’s endurance improved.

”Captain, won’t choosing to pull back instead of joining the main team seem...?” someone asked cautiously.

”Seem what?”

The one who questioned knew it wasn’t good to ask but preferred being straightforward, so he said bluntly, ”Like... like we’re cowards. We’re here to rescue, and we haven’t even saved anyone before we’re running back ourselves.”

Shen Jianguo glared at the other.

”Yeah, Captain, this does seem pretty cowardly.”

”We came all the way without doing anything, leaving shamefully, how will I face others in the future.”

”Right! Are we supposed to let the main team cover for us?”

Luckily Shen Jianguo had a good temper; otherwise, someone else might have kicked them. ”We are rescue comrades, what’s the first element of being a rescue comrade?”

Everyone looked at each other, not daring to answer for a moment.

Shen Jianguo yelled loudly, ”Answer me.”

”Obey orders.”

”Obey orders.”

”...”

All ten members of the squad, nine of them shouted unanimously. Ashamed, none of them dared to look at Shen Jianguo. They got too emotional and forgot the basic requirement.

No wonder the Captain looked unhappy before coming, and wanted to come alone, but was vetoed by the President in the end.

They couldn’t even perform the most basic element of being a rescue comrade, so what right did they have to call themselves the best special rescue comrades?

”Captain, we were wrong.”

”Sorry, Captain.”

Shen Jianguo pressed his lips and commanded, ”Execute the order!”

”Yes!”
