She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 1668: Chapter 1745: Replacing Qiu Bai’s Position

”The chief designer from Valentino introduced him; he’s really nice and especially dedicated.” People involved in art really command respect; they might have big tempers and peculiar personalities, but their pursuit of art allows the world to overlook their flaws.

Once they find something they love and are interested in, they can go without sleep or pay.

Qiu Bai was focused and passionate, so engaged in conversation with Sheng Ning that she almost forgot the objective of their visit. Yang Wenying was rare to see so interested, so she stopped talking and went for a stroll herself, only reminding them to leave when time ran short.

When they were about to leave, Sheng Ning mentioned the watch again, but Yang Wenying refused to accept it until Qiu Bai insisted. She shared more common ground with Sheng Ning and also better understood that, given Sheng Ning’s current financial status, gifting such a watch was akin to an ordinary person giving a Meihua Watch.

Artists measure gifts by their sentiment, not price. She felt it was acceptable to receive it; whether a gift was worth millions or nothing meant the same in her eyes.

After leaving the General Union Courtyard, Yang Wenying felt somewhat uneasy, feeling like the bag holding the watch weighed a thousand pounds.

”Is it appropriate for us to accept this watch from Qiu Bai?”

”Of course, it is! Why wouldn’t it be?” Qiu Bai wasn’t too bothered. ”It’s just a watch. Accept Sheng Ning’s gesture! Don’t feel burdened, and besides, she gave gifts to every neighbor in the courtyard, some much more expensive than this.”

”That’s really intimidating!”

”Her theater is very popular and profitable now, so this is nothing.”

”But still, it’s such a waste.”

Qiu Bai couldn’t help but laugh and teased, ”This is the first time I’ve seen you being so stingy!”

”Am I... am I being stingy?” Yang Wenying was nearly upset to the point of spitting blood. ”Do you know what the organization would do if they found out we accepted such an expensive gift?”

”It’s not receiving a bribe,” Qiu Bai understood very clearly.

”This Sheng Ning just doesn’t know how to live frugally.”

”It’s not about frugality; it’s that she has so much money she doesn’t know where to spend it.” Qiu Bai had seen many super-rich people while studying abroad; that was what you called truly extravagant, terrifyingly so.

”Just a theater can reach this level? I don’t believe it.”

”Not just that. Have you heard of the name Zhenzhen?”

”Famous as thunder, I’ve heard she’s the granddaughter of the deceased Family Head and the most trusted key associate of the new Family Head.”

”Su Jiang is related to the Feng Family by marriage.” With Feng Zhenzhen’s visit, this wasn’t a secret anymore, just that word hadn’t spread yet.

”No wonder.”

”Also, I want to revise the prior work arrangement for Sheng Ning.” Qiu Bai rarely shared her opinions, but once she did, she never wavered.

”What opinion?”

”I want Sheng Ning to take over my position; she already has the capability and might even do it better than me.”

”And what about you?”

Qiu Bai smiled, and Yang Wenying understood from her smile. Given Qiu Bai’s skills, she shouldn’t have been confined to this small Song and Dance Troupe in the first place; it was her ties that kept her there this long.

Now that someone could take over, she would surely move to a higher position. Whether in the National Art Troupe or the Art Center, both would welcome her with open arms.
