She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 204: Chapter 205 Chapter 204: Chapter 205 Meng Xingzhi not only wasn’t angry when he heard him speak but instead walked over with joy written all over his face and said, “Who is it? Do I know them?”

“A newbie, how could you know them!”

Meng Xingzhi thought that made sense, the people he knew were either a bunch of old folks or leaders. “Then you better treat them right, no playing around.”

“I know, I know, don’t you understand your own son!” Meng Ping replied, impatiently.

“That’s exactly why I understand you that I can’t be at ease.”

“….” Meng Ping was extremely embarrassed, and thinking about his past actions, a serious expression involuntarily appeared on his handsome face.

That girl was not easy to deal with, nor was she one to flatter others; winning her over wouldn’t be easy.

“By the way, what do you plan to do in the future? Are you going to join the rescue world or go into business?” The third generation’s rising star of the Meng Family might have died, but the first and the second generations were still alive! Before Meng Ping laid a broad and smooth road, and he had the freedom to choose as he pleased.

“Neither.” He had been opposed to it since he was little, and as he grew up, he instead spent more time gallivanting around with a bunch of rascal friends.

Put nicely, it was a love for freedom; put harshly, it was idleness.

“So you want your old man to support you for the rest of your life?”

“Hasn’t reform and opening-up begun? I plan to go out and make a little business.” Meng Ping had set his sights on the Southern part very early; he went to stay in Shenzhen for a while in the first half of the year, and ever since he came back, he had been itching like a cat with its paw.

Meng Xingzhi was silent for nearly a minute, his serious face growing even more stern, and finally, his wise gaze met Meng Ping’s eyes and said, “That’s good too. They say we should push for reform and opening-up; our family should respond as well.”

Meng Xingzhi agreed too readily, and Meng Ping looked at him in disbelief. “Dad, you agree?” He had been prepared for a long-term family struggle.

“I agree.” Meng Xingzhi walked upstairs to sleep with his hands behind his back.

Meng Ping watched his retreating figure, his expression contemplative. His gaze turned once more to where Meng Fan’s photo was held, and he had already come to an understanding.

He guessed it was because of his elder brother’s death that his father was scared and therefore not forcing him anymore.

The next day, Sheng Ning got up early and, after washing up and brushing her teeth, began her usual yoga practice. A long-term commitment to exercise meant she executed poses like the inclined plank, the plank hold, and the downward dog with ease. Her body’s flexibility had also improved greatly compared to before.

“What are you practicing?” Chen Huaying squatted in front of Sheng Ning with bed hair and bleary eyes. “It’s ugly!”

Although they lived together during training camp, the daily training was so intense that Sheng Ning had no choice but to stop practicing yoga, only occasionally finding time to do some simple exercises on her bed. So this was the first time Chen Huaying had seen her practice.

“Nonsense, I think it looks very beautiful.” Wu Youli, noticing Sheng Ning’s ever-improving aura, couldn’t help but feel tempted to practice it too.

“Pfft! Boring.” Chen Huaying stood up and went to wash her face.

Zhang Hongmei was still the one who got up earliest in the dormitory; Chen Huaying and Wu Youli hadn’t returned from washing up when Zhang Hongmei came back from cleaning outside.

Just in time, Sheng Ning finished her yoga and packed up her things.

“Let’s go out!” Sheng Ning said excitedly, rubbing her hands together. She hadn’t truly gone out to enjoy herself since her rebirth.

There isn’t a woman who doesn’t like shopping, even without money she wanted to go and look around. To feel the essence of the eighties in New China, to experience an atmosphere unique to that era.
