Chapter 118: 118. Noble Knight

The Noble Knights’ armor is much more ornate than that of the Wandering Knights.

It’s also far sturdier.

For their fathers always must provide some dignity for their children who will serve as Count’s personal attendants.

It’s not just for the safety and combat efficiency of the younger generation, but also for the rivalry among noble ranks.

Thus, you often see golden trims and complex intricate engravings on these knights’ armor.

The small Shield pendant on the chest is engraved with their individual family crests.

When Lord Earl came running in panic, there was no need for excessive command arrangements.

The front line of Noble Knights equipped with sword and shield automatically made an opening so that Lord Earl could dash straight into the protective circle of the battle formation.

In Steza’s eyes, when he saw his own Noble Guard regiment, an exceptionally strong desire for survival erupted.

He knew very well that these knights’ combat power was different from ordinary soldiers and Wandering Knights.

It was a difference forged by money!

He joyfully rushed towards the gap in the battle formation.

But just as he was about to brush past the front line Sword and Shield Knights and charge into the protective circle...

A familiar voice rang out again.

”Get down, Lord Earl!”

The address in the words was not out of respect, but... mockery.

Steza’s pupils suddenly trembled, and instinctively, he plunged to the ground.

In the next moment, a familiar sensation of being pressured by the wind was felt on his scalp again.

Those were two war hammers, picked up from the group of corpses just now.

The projectiles, carried by speed, emitted a mournful howl through the air.

And before anyone reacted, they slammed right into the opened formation!

”Bang!” *2

Solid steel colliding with hollow steel! The sound was piercing to the eardrums!

Two tall rear Knights, their originally conical protruding helmets were directly dented by the flying war hammers!

Though their sizes differed and positioning varied, the places hit were startlingly identical!

Blood sprayed out from the breathing grille of their helmets like juiced fruit.

No chance for cries.

Coupled with the armor, the body weighing over a hundred kilograms, the upper body was immediately knocked backward, crashing into the knights behind.

The sudden weight shattered the balance of the knights behind, knocking them over collectively.

Two war hammers, killed two, toppled six. A total of eight.

The formation of the Noble Knights broke apart.

Not the controlled brief formation change from before, but a real disarray!

Among the front-line Sword and Shield Knights, there seemed to be a leading figure.

On his helmet stood some beautiful and ostentatious tail feathers of pheasants.

At this moment, he immediately raised his shield and shouted.

”Shield Guard close ranks!”

He was the first to realize the severity of the issue after the sudden change in situation.

The battle formation is one of the decisive factors affecting the fight’s outcome.

He had never heard of a Knight Order winning after being dispersed.

Now he understood.

The Earl who ran over was precisely a means for the enemy to force them into a temporary formation change!

Taking advantage of the window during the change, their group’s combat power was reduced by at least seventy percent in less than ten seconds!

He did not know who the opponent was, nor why the opponent had such profound confidence.

Confidence to strike the Noble Guard’s formation in under ten seconds of window time.

Inquiring about these was meaningless, for the formation was already scattered.

He could only try his best to remedy the situation, desperately try to send Lord Earl to a more secure rear.

”Shield Guard close ranks! Immediately!”

He shouted again, waking up the bewildered comrades beside him.

But the time for this response... was already too late.

”Boom boom boom!”

In the shadows of the corridor far away, it seemed like some frenzied beast was charging blindly!

Merely the sound of footsteps on the ground caused the building, entirely made of stone blocks, to tremble slightly.

The sound was urgent and terrifying, first echoing from the other end of the corridor, but in the blink of an eye.

Just by listening, they knew the opponent had advanced more than ten meters!

This corridor was only twenty meters long!

The Noble Knight with the tail-feather helmet anxiously stared into the darkness deep in the corridor.

He felt as though everything slowed down.

The comrades urgently moving towards him, the shouts of men... all slowed down.

Until from that shadow, a towering figure burst forth!

Even from his slowed perspective, the opponent was fast like a shadow!

But each step pounded with a sound that clearly indicated how terrifying the opponent’s weight was.

A human’s mass is obviously bigger than a war hammer, so the wind pressure caused by this man’s sprint was even more intense than that of the war hammer throw earlier!

Like a gust of wild wind passing through.

The Noble Knight with tail-feather helmet instinctively raised his shield, placing it between himself and the opponent.

But the figure rushing like a charging bear suddenly stamped down hard before reaching the shield.

The stone-built ground trembled.

And this fellow, sounding heavy-footed, leaped straight up over two meters high!

Under the helmet, the Noble Knight’s eyes unconsciously opened wide, his vision shifting upward.

In mid-air, the figure folded into a crouching posture, and in the next moment...

”Boom!”

A boot clad with plate armor stomped directly onto the helmet above the Noble Knight’s head!

Under the immense impact, the eyes within the Noble Knight’s helmet rolled back; his upper body bent backward like snapping.

The boot descending from the sky stomped from the helmet right into the ground!

Fine dust shook out from the ground’s crevices, a web-like crack spread from the point where the helmet hit the ground.

The helmet underneath the foot no longer looked like it could fit a human head.

Only at this point, amidst the cries of the downed knights, had the Sword and Shield Knights not yet regrouped.

Lann from the corridor’s end had crossed twenty meters in a sprint, all in less than one point five seconds!

Moreover, he came out clutching something.

In the middle of a chaotic Noble Knights formation, Lann, crashing in with a burst helmet, casually tossed a glass flask.

A Sword and Shield Soldier with decent reflexes raised his shield in time to block the flask.

Glass collided against the iron-wood shield, shattering, spreading the liquid inside everywhere.

Although Steza’s manor was constructed large, this was, after all, just a corridor.

The heavily armored knights had no place to hide.

The knight raising the shield took several deep breaths within his helmet, then let out a panicked scream.

”It’s lamp oil! Scatter! Scatter...”

Before uttering several words, Lann already raised his left hand expressionlessly, casually pinching out the Magic Seal.

”Igni.”

Upon touch, flames adhered to the oil, flowing and staining the ornate armor of the knights.

Including those who were lying on the ground since the start and couldn’t escape, eighteen individuals now had flames wrapped around them.

And now, there were five remaining.

The golden Quen Rune surrounded Lann’s body, and the flames couldn’t harm him for the moment.

Amidst the screech of iron, Lann drew the sword from his back amidst the sea of fire, walking outward.

The five Noble Knights at this moment surrounded Count Steza in the center.

Though seemingly steadfast, those few pairs of iron boots shuffled hesitantly up and down back and forth.

”Knights, regulate your breathing. Your hearts are chaotic now.”

With the blade bright like water hanging beside, Lann calmly approached the remaining five.

Behind him, flames burned, among which those trapped in armor clawed and stumbled frantically, cried, and screamed.

Lann’s face was silhouetted black by the firelight, only those cat-like eyes, faintly shimmering.

”Regulated? Then I’m attacking.”

Behind, there was only one path upward; the five Noble Knights swallowed saliva, exchanged looks.

In unison they roared to boost each other, charging towards Lann...
