Bear School Astartes

Chapter 80: 80. Son of the Emperor!

A peculiar sense of dizziness assaulted Lann’s mind.

In this state of semi-intoxication, Lann first saw a strange scene.

In a dimly lit room of an ancient castle, the flickering candlelight illuminated the left half of a man’s body.

A long robe, long beard... that was a Warlock.

And Lann’s perspective was fixed on a bed-like device, gazing up at the male Warlock.

In the faint candlelight, Lann saw the needle in the male Mage’s hand, linked to a large vial of potion behind it—Tears of the Mother.

It was part of the Cyan Grass Trial Potion Set, designed to violently disrupt the original human anatomy, laying the foundation for the remolding of a Demon Hunter.

This process would make one desperately long for a swift death.

Lann recalled this vividly.

And from the memory’s perspective, excitement, obsession... and a hint of hidden compassion flickered in the male Mage’s eyes.

”What do you desire? What is your longing? How will you carry out your will?”

The male Mage questioned Lann’s perspective as if interrogating Lann.

Lann did not respond; at this moment, he was merely an observer, even his emotions seemed to have faded.

But the true owner of the perspective answered.

”I do not crave wealth and fame, power and authority. I desire a steed as black as night and swift as the wind, I want a sword as bright as moonlight. I shall ride my black horse in the night, and with the sword in my hand, I will slay all evil; this is what I seek in my heart!”

The voice was youthful, yet its firmness and fervor were not to be underestimated!

”There will be a steed waiting for you, darker than night, swifter than the wind. And a sword will be forged for you, sharper than light, brighter than the moon. But these trivial desires will come at a high cost!”

”I have nothing left!” the youthful voice declared without hesitation, ”so I am fearless!”

After a long pause, the male Mage let out a sigh.

”Your blood, child. That is all that’s needed.”

The first memory was brief.

From Lann’s perspective, it couldn’t even be considered a flashback from a movie.

But then, a surging power began to emerge from Lann’s body.

He felt his vision becoming higher, clearer, more detailed.

This abrupt and intense change made Lann almost think he had been blind all his life!

Even when he went through the harrowing transformation from an ordinary person to a Demon Hunter.

He had never felt such a violent physical change.

Even while walking normally, Lann could sense how immense the power of this body was.

So much so that even Bordeaux, the strongest Warrior Lann had seen so far, seemed to be mere fodder ready to be harvested by this power.

Suddenly, Lann realized.

This was not his body undergoing a change, but his perspective being transferred to another body.

Another creature far superior to the so-called ”Demon Hunter”.

Perhaps this was what could be crafted by the genetic seed.

Upon realizing this, the scenes in his vision were also received by him.

”He” walked through a colossal structure composed entirely of unknown metal.

This all-metal structure was so enormous that even with Lann’s current visual limit, he couldn’t discern its full range to deduce what kind of building it was inside.

But the sheer scale of the building and the grand, magnificent mechanized devices made Lann realize the civilization here was highly advanced.

Humans in uniforms were rushing around, but from ”his” perspective, these humans only reached ”his” chest and abdomen.

If these humans weren’t all unusually short, then it meant ”he” was... excessively tall.

”He” walked in the opposite direction through the crowd formed by these humans.

Everyone who passed ”him” gazed at ”him” with admiration and longing... even fanaticism.

As if ”he” was an angel walking among humans!

This title was apt.

Even though Lann couldn’t control his vision within the memory, he could easily sense how perfect this body’s movements were.

Perfect reactive state, perfect muscle coordination, perfect range of motion... even perfect posture while walking!

This was not just the body of a ”Warrior”; placing this body among works of art wouldn’t seem out of place in the slightest.

After weaving through numerous turns in this immense steel structure, ”he” encountered a human in a corridor.

In Lann’s impression, it was a typical European aristocratic face.

Dressed in elaborate and luxurious clothing, exuding a sluggishness born from satiated desires, and calling this sluggishness ”aristocratic temperament”.

But even this person, with a clearly extraordinary status, showed strong respect towards ”him”.

”Good day, sir.”

This man with the European aristocratic face greeted with surprise.

”Your injuries seem to have healed well; what great joy this brings.”

Lann didn’t even know what creature his current perspective’s owner was, let alone their social relations.

But fortunately, this was a memory, and the memory’s owner already had a response prepared.

”Good day, Sir Herbert. A pierced heart is not considered a serious injury; replacing it is quick. Although my biochemistry knowledge isn’t as abundant as the pharmacists in the legion, it’s not an exaggeration to say that such minor surgery can be independently performed by many in the legion. I even adjusted the position of my lung sacs during treatment, increasing my respiratory oxygen supply capacity by 0.03% as a result.”

To Lann, even ”his” tone and voice while speaking possessed a polished melodious quality.

Polite and pleasant, like a spring breeze.

This brought an even more enthusiastic smile to Sir Herbert’s face.

”Your injuries are proof of yet another great achievement by the legion! The contemptible xenomorphs deserve nothing but to be reduced to ashes in the Empire’s expedition and the Emperor’s grand vision.”

”Indeed.”

”He” replied nonchalantly, but even with such an attitude, ”his” voice was filled with a dynamic tension.

Has this person trained in opera to their very bones?

Lann, meanwhile, while making a mental note, contemplated the content behind the conversation.

The Empire’s expedition? Are we currently amid this expedition?

This means that the massive all-steel structure we are in is a base during this expedition then?

The owner of the perspective was not slow, coupled with various transit devices along the way.

Lann estimated that they had traversed over a dozen kilometers so far, yet the steel structure still showed no sign of its boundary.

”Ah! Speaking of which...”

Sir Herbert suddenly spoke eagerly.

”Our poetry salon has recently produced a few remarkable works due to this conquest action. Would you like to take a look? Many of your colleagues have been invited, offering us accompanying poets many suggestions! The great Primarchs possess great talent, and without a doubt, you perfectly inherited this!”

Accompanying poets? During the expedition of an advanced civilization?

... Are you performing a space opera?

And what is the ”Primarch”...?

Lann mentally criticized while the perspective owner’s heart suddenly brimmed with slight displeasure.

”My brothers have been attending the salon too frequently lately. Poetry is indeed a refined human art, and a commendable choice for cultivating temperament. But our duty is ultimately to bring iron and blood to the contemptible xenomorphs. I now see more brothers in the training ground than in the salon; they are too slack!”

”His” questioning made Sir Herbert’s face turn awkward and fearful.

Fortunately, at this moment, an electronic voice echoed throughout the entire structure.

”Notification, subspace navigation has ended, the Geller Field is about to open, we are about to exit the Mandeville Point, all departments onboard please prepare.”

The electronic notification repeated three times, and the uniformed humans around hurried along.

In Lann’s vision, the originally continuous steel structure forming the corridor around ”him” suddenly vibrated on one side.

Then the steel wall, once a seamless whole, retracted upwards, revealing high-strength glass.

Beyond the glass... was the vast, boundless cosmos and galaxy!

Lann watched the grand scene inside the memory in astonishment.

This was not some ”building” or ”expedition-way city”... This was a space battleship several tens of kilometers in length!

And in the reflection of light and shadow, Lann also glimpsed the owner of his vision through the glass.

A deep purple with gold-trimmed paint covered the power armor over the entire body.

On top of the heavy armor, only the head was exposed.

It was a man with a full coat of paint covering his entire body in power armor.

On the heavy chest armor, the pattern of a double-headed eagle shone with golden splendor!
