Bear School Astartes

Chapter 74: 74. Alchemy Frontiers

Alia no longer concealed from Lann, nor did she skim over the description of her homeland.

In her narrative, she was born on a continent divided by seven kingdoms.

And she was the second daughter of the lord of the oldest and largest Northern Kingdom.

In terms of nobility, Alia’s father was second only to the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, the Duke of the North.

This situation indeed matched Lann’s speculation, a top aristocrat without a doubt.

While eating, Alia shared many stories about her homeland’s customs and beliefs with Lann.

These deep-rooted trivia of daily life naturally emerged during her narration.

This greatly enhanced the credibility of Alia’s words.

Yet at the same time, it caused Lann to furrow his brow deeply.

The young man took a bite of ham, looking at the little girl beside him who was animatedly talking about her homeland.

Though bold and playful, she was ultimately a child longing for family.

The complex and coherent relationships in Alia’s account weren’t something a little girl could fabricate out of thin air.

In other words, it was genuine.

But the problem is... this continent in this world has no seven kingdoms!

Could it be, just like me? Coming from the convergence of celestial spheres?

Alia had already mentioned that, according to her knowledge, magic was already a legend from centuries ago.

This rules out the possibility of a massive teleportation accident.

There’s absolutely no portal over there!

Tsk, how could this be sent?

The little girl looked at Lann with expectation mixed with a bit of fear.

”Alright then...” Lann said apologetically, pressing his lips, ”Your home is indeed quite far from here, it seems I can’t send you back just yet.”

Alia was now caught in the conflicting mindset of missing her home while yearning to see the new world.

Lann’s words made her sigh, but also exclaim a little.

Hopefully, this little kid can still smile after dozens of solitary nights.

~~~~~~
Oren’s worth of funds was spent almost 100 Oren yesterday alone.
If Lann were to earn enough for that big bag of coarsely processed herbs, it would take him months.
But today, he still has to use up another big bag.
The Airetusa Academy’s warehouse manager was very surprised, what was this guy doing to consume so many herbs?
Lann had already spent five hours entering herb data yesterday.
According to Mentos’ estimation, three more hours at this efficiency, and he could begin alchemical practice.
And within two hours, he could obtain a qualified finished product of [White Honey].
Arriving at the Alchemy Classroom whose usage rights he extended for another day, this time Lann didn’t send Alia away.
He just let her sit on the side.
Yesterday, the two of them spent an hour cleaning up the piled-up equipment; today, he didn’t want to work overtime.
”Petals of the hundred-color hundred-day red flower, mandrake root, flea wort...”
The Demon Hunter placed the herbs on the table while checking their names.
The classroom door suddenly opened again, and Margaret entered in a wheelchair.
”Madam.”
Alia stood up politely to greet her.
This etiquette made Margaret look at her with an interesting glance, then turned her gaze to Lann, who was still busy.
”You’ve always been polite before, Lann. Why not greet me this time?”
The tone was not a displeased inquiry but more of a tease.
”I took your money, Rita.” Lann continued his work but turned to smile at the Female Warlock.
”That was a huge sum. I thought an employer paying for labor would be happier seeing the hired person focused on their work.”
In that brief turn, Lann noticed something different about the Female Warlock.
She no longer wore the long dresses that reached down to the ankles; on the contrary, now her dress’s slit allowed her legs in white thigh-high stockings to be fully displayed.
Judging by the smooth curves of those legs, even the almost-bony shins seemed fuller.
Is the effect of magical recovery really this fast?
Perhaps sensing Lann’s gaze, Margaret chuckled softly.
She bent over, an action that almost made people worry whether her slender waist could bear the weight of her upper body.
After all, slender branches bear fruit.
Long, white fingers lightly slid from her ankle upwards, tracing the graceful curve to the lace edge of the stockings on her thighs.
Her fingers hooked the lace and then released them abruptly.
”Snap-”
The plump thighs wobbled like jelly several times.
Lann could hear the sound of Alia beside him knocking over her chair.
Even for a brave and playful young girl, the scene was a bit too intense.
”The academy cultivates my flesh and blood on crystals and integrates them into missing limbs, which is much faster than forcing the body to recover on its own.”
The content of the words was like a lecture, but regardless of the attire or tone, Lann felt as if the Female Warlock wanted to consume him.
Unfortunately, the current Demon Hunter is a bloodless and tearless person determined to grind [Alchemy] proficiency!
”Cultivating flesh and blood on crystals... is this also alchemy? In this way, you warlocks aren’t afraid of severe injuries?”
Lann ignored the beautiful scenery, instead focusing his attention entirely on the herbs and alchemy.
Margaret pouted in disinterest.
”Yes, this is a frontier research direction of alchemy. But for now, only muscles and skin tissue can be cultivated, while more critical organs like viscera and eyeballs have no progress. So, not fearing severe injuries is still just talk.”
”Are you practicing alchemy? Why not ask a mentor at the academy to guide you? That would be faster.”
Regarding this suggestion, the Demon Hunter waved his hand, indicating no need.
This is a Female Warlock Academy, and the alchemy taught is the warlock’s alchemy.
It’s not just about herbs, but also magic power.
With the Demon Hunter’s magic reserve stored by his body alone, he fundamentally couldn’t produce even the lowest level of warlock potions.
But if asking for guidance in ordinary alchemy?
The ordinary alchemy of this world differs greatly from magic-infused alchemy.
Magic-infused alchemy has begun to involve cultured somatic cells, yet ordinary alchemy in terms of ideals hasn’t even surpassed the chemistry experiments Lann learned in high school.
The marvel of Demon Hunter potions mainly stems from the inherent magical properties of herbs in a magic-rich environment, distinct from those in his homeland world.
What he lacks now is practical experience, not theoretical guidance.
Margaret, rejected, tilted her head, not surprised.
”Alright, I know you Demon Hunters keep your secret recipes close. Magical mushrooms, body-strengthening herbs and such... It’s fine, we’re collaborators, a healthy relationship requires respecting each other’s secrets.”
Lann had shown no emotion previously, but when Margaret mentioned ”secret recipes of Demon Hunters,” those cat-like eyes narrowed slightly.
Apparently, internally, Demon Hunters possess some alchemical achievements enough to pique warlock’s interest?
Interesting.
Perhaps later, he could try to acquire this knowledge.
But at the same time, he must be even more cautious at Airetusa.
Lann didn’t believe that these sky-high ambitioned warlocks, when confronted with the knowledge they desire, would choose a gentle method to acquire it.
But regardless, first, he must secure the three magic potions composing his ”medical kit.”
