597: Chapter 10: Milk God Xiaobao 597: Chapter 10: Milk God Xiaobao “Alright, you all can go back.

I’ll take care of things here.”

Xiaobao finally tidied up the tools in the examination room, turned off the lights, and left the workplace, carrying a sense of fatigue back to his own office.

Glancing at the time, he realized, damn it, it was already past one in the morning.

Looking at the office that could only be described with the words “messy, chaotic, and shabby”, Xiaobao sighed and glanced at the division chief’s seat.

He had a strong premonition—if the chief didn’t come back, would he turn into another “Old Qin”?

Of course, not in terms of job position, but rather being like him, practically living in the office.

It was so late, Xiaobao decided not to go home.

Besides, going back and forth would just waste time.

Xiaobao yawned, made a cup of instant noodles, sat at his desk, and turned on the monitor screen…

Overall, it could be considered personal time now, right?

Xiaobao thought.

Working in forensic technology, the life of a tech dog was unbearably monotonous.

Although the salary was alright, living this kind of life over and over without playing games would be no different from being a salted fish (doing nothing all day).

As Xiaobao ate the freshly made noodles in front of him, he enlarged the window of the game interface.

In the afternoon, something had arrived for testing, and he’d been busy until now. “Oh man… as expected, I died.”

Xiaobao shook his head, remembering that before leaving, he had been doing a field side quest.

His character had remained in the wild ever since.

Seeing that there were only a few monsters left to complete the quest, and influenced by Old Qin, Xiaobao, who had developed a bit of compulsive behavior, yawned and decided to finish the quest before sleeping… or something like that, and ran out of the game city alone: Central Union City.

As a firm believer in slacking off at work, he’d trashed someone’s final dungeon in the Novice Village over a week ago.

Yesterday, he finally managed not to screw up and smoothly shed the novice title. “It’s really rare…” Xiaobao laughed awkwardly.

So the “professional” Priest Milk called ‘Xiaobao’ passed through the large city gates and ran into a sparsely populated area…

However, as a Priest, his attack methods were almost nil.

If it weren’t for these quest mobs, Xiaobao might have just gone to sleep, seeing if he could join a party tomorrow. “Huh, someone else is doing quests this late?”

Looking at the screen in this area, Xiaobao noticed someone had arrived before him and curiously observed, “Qianxiu?

This name sounds familiar… isn’t this the Knight from the team I bailed on last time?”

Don’t doubt a tech dog’s memory!

If his memory were bad, how could he pass the exams requiring extensive professional knowledge? “Even at such a high level, why kill these little monsters?” Xiaobao continued to observe the Knight named Qianxiu, noticing a pair of monster corpses already lying by his side.

The Knight stood alone, like a robot, in the cleared area, immediately attacking as soon as the monster respawned.

Then, he stood there, waiting like a statue for the next monster to respawn before moving again. “A bot?” Xiaobao subconsciously had this thought.

After all, wasn’t it a bit too idle to be a high-level Great Knight with seemingly good equipment, killing small monsters late at night?

But then, he thought, because of the game’s encryption algorithm, no one had successfully created a bot in the game’s forum black market section yet.

Moreover, Xiaobao noticed something amusing: this Knight wasn’t just doing nothing while waiting for monsters to respawn; he was also drinking—yes, drinking!

The character even had a big bottle of liquor, taking a sip every once in a while. “Characters can do this kind of action?” Xiaobao was stunned, then stuffed a bundle of noodles into his mouth, muttering, “Just how bored is this guy…”

But considering that he himself was eating instant noodles in the office late at night, playing games to wait until he got sleepy, Xiaobao also laughed at himself, controlling his character to move closer to this Great Knight.

ID Xiaobao: Hey!

Brother, up so late? …

When the alcohol coursed through his blood, making his head feel increasingly heavy, Qianxiu could temporarily forget some things.

And the splattering of monster blood and their cries when injured heightened his vague sense of excitement.

Alcohol and blood…

Due to their interaction, Qianxiu didn’t have to think too much—the only reward from killing these small monsters, besides a meager amount of currency, was that there was virtually no other benefit.

But similarly, killing these small monsters also posed no danger—yes, there was no danger.

The feeling of hunger finally drove his body to leave the room, but without working, there would be no income.

Since he deleted Guda Zi and others from his friends list, Qianxiu had been in a sort of inactive state.

He generally only went out late at night, returning to the inn before dawn, doing those simple solo tasks.

As for the supposed level ranking, he hadn’t paid much attention for a long time—it had already dropped out of the first echelon.

But this seemed to be nothing bad.

He could drink, eat, and live peacefully… most importantly, safely.

Safely… surviving. “Hey!

Brother, up so late?”

When the voice reached his ears, Qianxiu instinctively swung his sword towards the source of the sound—so late at night, Central Union City’s guards wouldn’t come out, and neither would commoners, so there was only one possibility: a player.

An almost pathological tension tightened his entire body—in fact, he’d always had the hostile PK mode on, but had never actively attacked anyone.

Priest?

Xiaobao…

Qianxiu glanced at the profile of the character approaching him, indeed, it was a player.

I just don’t know if he’s actually…

Qianxiu still hasn’t let down his guard—apart from the NPCs in this game, Qianxiu is always on high alert against all players. “Don’t be nervous, I mean no harm!

Boss!”

The Priest in front of him quickly waved both hands, looking like he wanted to clarify things.

Qianxiu said calmly, “Then stay away from me and don’t get close.”

Xiaobao was taken aback, then shamelessly said, “Well, big guy, no need to be so cold, right?

I’m known as the absolutely reliable Milk God Xiao Bao!

You’re farming monsters for materials, right?

I’ll give you a buff to increase efficiency, and then I’m just a few of these quest monsters short myself, so why don’t we team up?

It’s a win-win!”

After sizing up the Priest for a while, Qianxiu finally put down his sword and said calmly, “Go away, I don’t team up with people.

Also, I remember you, you were the one who didn’t make it into the last dungeon in the Novice Village.”

Xiaobao was immediately awkward (smiling sheepishly in front of the computer screen) and quickly said, “Boss, I have my reasons, please understand the dilemmas of the slacking players!”

Qianxiu ignored him and walked past Xiaobao with his weapon.

But Xiaobao followed, “Boss, have you gathered enough materials?

Where are you going?”

Qianxiu said irritably, “Don’t follow me, I won’t take you.

Do your own quest, don’t always think about relying on others.”

He’s seen too many small accounts that latch on like this… but undeniably, this kind of presence is also a big part of the game community.

Rely on?

Is this guy still not graduated from being a chuuni?

Xiaobao was stunned, shrugged, and said, “I say, boss, I’m just acting on cooperation principles, not relying, right?

Why put in more effort if you can save some?

Everyone’s busy with work, of course, time should be allocated reasonably, right?”

Qianxiu said, “In that case, following me is a waste of time, go back and do your quest.”

Xiaobao shook his head, “Not doing it, I’ll do it tomorrow.

Anyway, my efficiency alone is too low, it’s just that there are too few people right now, finished work and can’t sleep, so bored.

Chatting with someone is fine too.”

Indeed, in many games, there’s a certain type of person… not really participating in game grind or battles, but just using it as a pastime to chat.

Looks like this Xiaobao is that type?

Qianxiu frowned… this was basically also the type he found most difficult to deal with.

Generally, he’d choose to directly ignore the person, and over time, the person would give up and choose another target for conversation. “By the way, boss, where did you find that drinking action?

Why can’t I find it in the task action bar?

Is it an effect from using an item?”

Qianxiu was taken aback… are the outside players already able to see that kind of action?

He could only say calmly, “Built-in effect.”

Xiaobao nodded, “I thought so!

But where can you buy that kind of drink?

I want to get some and play around!”

Qianxiu said impatiently, “Dropped by monsters, the only way, you can’t get it.”

Xiaobao was slightly disappointed, followed for a bit longer, chattering beside Qianxiu for a while more, and when the gate of Central Union City was in sight, he said, “Oh, we’ve arrived.

Well, boss, see you if fate allows.

I won’t go in, I’ll log off here, easier to go out to the camp tomorrow.”

Qianxiu was suddenly stunned… this guy really was a social player, just looking for someone to chat with, anyone would do.

Qianxiu glanced at Xiaobao, silently nodding.

At this moment, Xiaobao waved his hand and said, “Boss, don’t stay up too late, take care of your health!

There are a few news stories recently, saying people got too caught up in gaming and suddenly dropped dead at home, only discovered a few days later!”

Seeing Xiaobao about to disappear, Qianxiu suddenly said, “Wait a minute.” “What?” “Add as a friend,” Qianxiu suddenly said. “Oh~”

Qianxiu added, “Will you be here at this time tomorrow night?”

Xiaobao said, “Hard to say, why?”

Qianxiu said calmly, “I’ll look for you.”

After finishing, Qianxiu walked through the gates of Central Union City, disappearing instantly. …

Also quite a quirky person.

Xiaobao shook his head, yawned, turned off the game, and opened the folding bed behind him, plopping down… so sleepy, don’t want to go to work tomorrow. “Hold on! ‘My Sister is Little Yellow Book Teacher’ updated today!

Damn!

Almost forgot!!!”

So Xiaobao got up again, feeling like he could still pull an all-nighter, and fight for another half-hour!!
