591: Chapter 4: The Young Knight 591: Chapter 4: The Young Knight The name of the first town you leave this area of Novice Village for is called: Central Union City.

At this moment, it is the time for Central Union City’s biannual ritual activity.

The City Lord will enter the Grand Shrine in Central Union City to conduct a three-day ritual.

During the ritual, the defensive inner border outside Central Union City will be weakened, attracting a wave of evil spirits to attack the city…

Actually, these are all intelligence that players can easily obtain—the next step is to recruit courageous folks to assist the local guards in defense.

To put it bluntly, it’s a main storyline quest.

Upon completing the task, each participating player will have a chance to draw a prize—what you end up with depends entirely on luck.

Of course, there’s also a lot of experience.

These are not only what other players need, but also what Qianxiu needs the most—he is in this game world and has completely lost his ability to operate in the original society—in other words, he has completely lost the ability to spend money.

Although he is just a player living off the game, with a lot of time, he was always a minimal-spending player.

It’s impossible for him to invest more funds here.

“Why am I still thinking about ‘cash’?”

Among the crowd, Qianxiu mocked himself, secretly acknowledging that he hadn’t fully shaken off his old mindset…

However, it seems it’s not something that can be completely changed overnight.

Fortunately, at the opening of the server, he made a first recharge, and now there are still enough diamonds on his character’s account to buy items from the shop.

“I can only earn these pitiful task diamonds from within the game…”

Qianxiu watched as the parade slowly passed in front of him, “According to test rules, personal and team achievements are calculated during defense, with decent diamonds on the leaderboard…

Additionally, the Jadeite Abyss PK ranking once a week is a source for diamonds.

The rest are some main quests and special side quests, as well as special dungeon boss chests…”

As for the individual leaderboard, Qianxiu was confident he could secure a spot, but for teams…

“I need to find people.”

Qianxiu frowned unconsciously at the empty friends list.

Due to the current societal atmosphere where most players form groups, and the display of game guild recruitment rules, relying on luck to find powerful solo players is too slim a chance.

Fortunately, Qianxiu was successfully recruited into a team that was temporarily short of members…

Because everyone was rushing for achievements, sometimes unprepared teams would have to temporarily recruit.

The six-person small team consisted of an archer, a priest, a mage, a warrior, and a thief, plus Qianxiu as the Knight, just enough to form a decent team.

The professions are roughly like this, and only after reaching level twenty-two can one choose a specialized career direction.

Time is very limited.

The team leader, Priest ID ‘War Song Gudazi’ (female character) said directly: “There’s two hours of preparation time until defense, everyone go practice and see if you can catch up with specialty choices during defense.”

The archer ID ‘African~Didn’t Eat Dog Food Yesterday’ (male character) agreed: “Sounds good, sounds good.”

Mage ID ‘Green Deadpan Water’ (male character) suggested: “The efficiency of grinding monsters is too low, let’s focus on ordinary tasks for now.”

The warrior was a female character, ID ‘Muscle Kanna,’ while the thief was a male character, ID ‘Quick Hand Swipe*****.’ Both agreed as well.

Qianxiu just nodded but after a while, ‘War Song Gudazi’ suddenly said: “Qianxiu, do you have any opinions?

Everyone has agreed.”

Qianxiu just realized…

It seems that players who only operate their characters couldn’t see him nodding.

Qianxiu had to simply say the word “good.”

His voice then turned into text and appeared in the chat channel.

Then Qianxiu remembered something and immediately added: “Since professions are different, let’s all level up individually and meet up when the time comes.”

Everyone else agreed…

Besides Qianxiu, the other five probably knew each other for a while, so they seemed quite coordinated.

At this moment, the system suddenly issued an announcement.

“Player ‘Qian Yu Xian Rou’ used global speaker: blue sky!

Are you here!

Add me as a friend!”

Screen Spam—used the global speaker consecutively 99 times!

‘War Song Gudazi’: “That rich maniac is back!”

‘Green Deadpan Water’: “Wasn’t this the name used in the last game too?

‘Qian Yu Xian Rou’…

Just too ruthless?

A single global speaker costs a hundred bucks!

That’s just crazy…”

‘African~Didn’t Eat Dog Food Yesterday’: “Ignore it, they say she’s a wealthy madwoman.

Ever since getting dumped in some game by a man, she’s been chasing ‘blue sky’ across every game, going crazy.”

‘Quick Hand Swipe*****’: “Hehe, I’m pretty envious of this ‘blue sky.’ This ‘Qian Yu Xian Rou’ is definitely a wealthy lady!”

‘Muscle Kanna’: “What if she’s ugly and fat?”

‘Quick Hand Swipe*****’: “Old lady?

Even better!

Just hang on for a few years and history changes!”

‘Muscle Kanna’: “Get lost!

I don’t know you!”

‘War Song Gudazi’: “Enough nonsense, go do the quest.

That Qianxiu has already left, I guess he’s an experienced player.

Let’s scout him during the city’s defense, if suitable we can recruit him into our group!”

“Get to work, get to work!”

The announcement was still spamming non-stop, after all, the max 99 speakers could last a long time.

…

Central Union City, Knight Training Hall—of course, this isn’t the place for fine profession selection, it’s just a training ground for knights.

Here, the targets defeated won’t provide any experience, nor will there be any drops, it’s just a place for newbies to familiarize with skill usage and combinations…

Normally, places like these are seldom visited, yet the game does have such a function.

There’s one in Novice Village too, serving as a sort of beginner’s tutorial.

When Qianxiu arrived here, it was naturally empty.

With an hour and a half until the meet-up time, thanks to the suggestions during testing, Qianxiu had already reached level 22, and was a step ahead in completing the profession advancement.

Originally, the next primary task should be continuing to level up, but for Qianxiu, he had other considerations.

That is, unlike players controlling their characters on computers, he is his own body.

Though battle skills are just skills, when attacked by monsters before leaving the dungeon, Qianxiu discovered…

He wasn’t as adept as he imagined, even seeming clumsy.

This forced him to take precious time to become fully familiar with his current body…

The training hall, is the most suitable place for this.

Moreover, it’s free to use, there’s nothing shady about it.

“Name?”

“Qianxiu.”

“Use approved!

Young Knight, strive on!

For the things you wish to protect, unleash your power to the fullest!”

For…

things to protect?

Am I still a child?

Qianxiu expressionlessly stepped into the training field…

starting with a simple wooden dummy.

There’s nothing worth protecting anymore.

Kill!
