Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2146: Chaos

Sylasʼ expression didnʼt change.

A Split Realm?

From his understanding, a Split Realm was an inflection point in history. The idea of entering such a thing when the world was quite literally about to end in the views of the Golden Race was… interesting.

What could this Split Realm possibly be about? And why would it be so important to enter now rather than focusing on the task at hand?

And more importantly than all of that, why would they need to go and get someone from the future to deal with it? Given their talent, even if the Split Realm had a tier advantage to take note of, did they not have a D-tier or even an E-tier that was stronger than the current Sylas?

Sylas wouldnʼt be surprised if the answer to that question was yes. If the Golden Race wasnʼt an S-tier Race, then it was very close. And given the fact his body was flooded with Demi-God Aura the instant he appeared here, it also meant that they were, at the very least, on the Demi-God Plane as well.

Logically, then, the only reason they would need Sylas was because they needed someone capable of thoroughly comprehending the Golden Battlefield—or, in other words, a Rune Master with a strong comprehension of time.

But much the same way, there was a problem with that conclusion as well.

The Golden Battlefield had been literally created by the Golden Race. Obviously, they were strong Rune Masters and Will Masters. They certainly had better teachers than Sylas had ever had in his life. Could it really be the case that they didnʼt have a single talent capable of doing this for them?

”Okay.” Sylas said calmly.

Supreme Commander Ros lowered her head. ”Thank you. We all thank you.”

Sylas watched as the members of the Golden Race all lowered their heads in unison.

What he missed, though, was the flicker of shock in Supreme Commander Rosʼ eyes. That was because despite the number of powerhouses lowering their heads toward Sylas… Sylasʼ Will didnʼt move, increase, or shift even the slightest bit.

It was as though they had no ability to move his Pride even with this sort of display. He didnʼt care about them in the slightest.

…

There was no time to loiter around, to adjust, or even to hope. The moment Sylas agreed to do what he was tasked with, he found himself in a vessel manned by Supreme Commander Ros herself. Zaun tried several times to take the controls, but Ros wasnʼt having it.

Just to step inside of this vessel, Ros had to strike down three of her own generals. They thought it was too much of a risk for her to go personally, that some of the others should come instead. In fact, they disagreed so vehemently there had been a battle.

Sylas didnʼt say anything during the proceedings. But what was clear was that Ros was either a cut above anyone else in the Golden Race in this era, or the powerhouses on her level were still stuck on the front lines fighting out their own battles.

Regardless, she took down what were probably three S-tiers alone and without allowing a single fluctuation to even touch the hem of Sylasʼ clothing.

It was impressive even though Sylasʼ current mind couldnʼt wrap his head around the level of power they were using. No, not exactly the level, but the sort.

It felt like they were wielding a different kind of strength altogether, one that somehow went beyond Will, or was maybe a combination of Will Manipulation and other things.

Regardless, the end result was the three of them coming together in what was a relatively small flying vessel all things considered. Ros barely had the room to sit at her full height without ducking, and there was only enough room for two seats outside of the steering position.

Zaun had no choice but to return to his human form just to come along.

The three of them cut across the skies, but all Sylas had eyes for was the war around them. Seeing the sights, Sylas realized why it was that Ros insisted she be the one flying.

The only way Sylas could describe it was like watching worlds fall from a perch atop a snow globe. Planets burst apart as though volcanic magma was tearing them at the seams. He watched as two moons crashed into one another, only to notice a step too late that it was because a powerhouse had quite literally grabbed one out of its orbit and thrown it across light years of space in the blink of an eye just to crush another powerhouse.

Ships were flying within the mess of chaos as well. Lasers, artillery units, a hodgepodge of what looked like too futuristic and too rudimentary technology slamming and crashing into one another in a firework of violence.

Supreme Commander Ros rocketed through it all without the slightest hesitation. The only reason Sylasʼ eyes could even keep up with what was going on was because it was all happening from so far away and on such a large scale that it was simply impossible to miss.

But near them, it felt like the world was blazing by at lightning speeds.

And then he saw it in the distance, a crack of maroon, sparkling blackness that looked like a demonʼs jagged grin spreading across the starry skies.

ʼThe Split Realm.ʼ

Sylas understood what he was seeing instantly, but he also saw then that Ros wasnʼt the only one trying to rush toward it.

But he also knew that he wouldnʼt be likely to interact with any of these people. Who they were didnʼt matter.

A Split Realm was different from a Dungeon. Just like when Sylas cleared the Mountains of Giza Split Realm, there was a leaderboard, and whoever came out on top would only be decided at the very end of it all.

It made Sylas wonder…

Who were these people entering with him?

Were they from the future as well?

What he didnʼt know was that in one of these ships, there was a very familiar beauty carving her way forward. By her side was the brightest young talent of their family and her elder brother, a man she looked toward with sparkling pride in her eyes.

The Duchess and her elder brother, The Prince.
