Chapter 2137: A Bet (1)

Sylasʼ eyes darted back and forth as he paid attention to their movements. With the battle with Nosphaleen and Cassarae, he was sure of which of them would win. But the talent gap between Cassarae and the Duchess was far closer.

The other problem was that both of them were also apparently capable of constantly improving.

The ability of the Duchess to pour more blood into her intentions, strengthening her body and increasing her speed, felt endless.

By comparison, Cassarae seemed constantly capable of pulling more and more from her Sword Will. The world continued to whine, shift and move almost as though she was controlling spacetime instead of just her own blade.

At some point, the two of them seemed to gain some tacit understanding between one another. They didnʼt bother to use any skills or special techniques. It was practically a battle of raw power and the two of them were akin to a pair of female T-Rexes constantly butting heads and smashing through the earth.

The Golden Battlefield to Sylasʼ back shook as though it might collapse any moment now, the shuddering impact of every strike they levied akin to a natural disaster with every intention of ripping them to pieces.

Sylas sighed again.

He felt that this battle would probably go on for a while. At the very least, it was a beautiful sight to behold.

He might not care very much for the Duchess, but she was truly a beautiful woman. Even fighting in the nude as she was, and even given her violent and straightforward combat style, there was still a gorgeous sort of grace to the way her body glided through the air.

Her expression was fierce and didnʼt carry the slightest shift, but the way her sweat glistened down the flare of her hips and the perkiness of her breasts left Sylas paying quite some attention.

By comparison, Cassarae only grew more perfect every day herself. The higher her Race climbed, and the more Sylas helped her to elevate, the closer to perfection she reached as well.

Sylas loved his wife, to the point that no matter what she looked like, he felt that she would always be the most perfect woman in his eyes. He had said many times who he felt the most beautiful women he had ever laid his eyes on were, and amongst that number Cassarae had never been there, but that wasnʼt because he felt she was inferior.

It was because he placed his own wife in a separate category all her own.

Sylas was someone who was pragmatic and logical, maybe to a fault. Objectivity was practically his mistress. So despite how he felt, he never actually said those words about Cassarae.

Back on Earth, before the Summoning, there was no doubt that Cassarae was amongst the most beautiful women of their world. She was tall, perfectly curved, and perfectly proportioned.

But in the wider universe, the competition went beyond what most models of Earth could hope to compete with.

However, Sylas had spent so much time away from Cassarae, and his love for her obscured his sight for detail to such a great extent, that he hadnʼt even realized when she had started to become this truly magnificent specimen of a woman.

Cassarae was no mortal anymore. She was a Demi-God of an A-tier Race. She was blessed with a foundation of beauty that blew most of those in the universe out of the water.

If many of the beauties Sylas had seen had been stripped of their Race Rank and forced to become an F-tier Human like Cassarae had been, how many of them could match up to her?

Watching his wife now… Sylas was confident that the answer was zero.

She had truly bloomed into the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, and he hadnʼt even noticed until there was the Duchess right across from her to contrast.

It had never been clearer.

That beautiful caramel skin, those bright blue eyes, that fierce, wild grin on her face and the matching wild flare of her dancing black cascade of hair.

Her movements werenʼt elegant like the Duchessʼ were, and were instead straightforward to a fault and suffocatingly direct. But they seemed to match the rhythm of nature itself, and when she moved, her blade carried the power of mountains and the rays of the sun.

It was like it wasnʼt Cassarae that wanted those who met her blade to die, but like it was a law dictated by the universe itself that had deemed them worthy of execution.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

The Duchess slapped Cassaraeʼs sword to the side with a flash of her claws. She stepped forward, swiftly closing the distance as the blade passed over her opposite shoulder.

Grabbing Cassaraeʼs shoulders, she smashed her forehead down with a swirling mass of crimson following her every waking instant.

Cassarae grinned and matched her forehead smash.

BANG.

Cassaraeʼs head went snapping back. Without her sword, in a straightforward competition of might, Cassarae wouldnʼt win 10 out of 10 times.

The Duchess thought she would be able to immediately capitalize on this mistake, only to realize that while Cassaraeʼs head had snapped back, she hadnʼt actually taken any steps back. In fact, in that brief exchange, the same moment the Duchess pressed forward, Cassarae had pressed forward as well.

In their battle, Cassarae had realized something. If things continued as they were, they would battle for days and nights, and eventually the only one of them that could replenish her stamina with ease would win… That being the Duchess.

But the Duchess, for whatever reason, was entirely battling with instinct, speed, and reaction.

She wasnʼt ready for a sudden shift in tactic that used the mind instead.

Cassaraeʼs lips spread into an even wider grin, her sword—still over the Duchessʼ shoulder—pressed down with a power that came from above.

PUCHI.

The Duchessʼ torso was cut into, slicing her down right to her heart.

A single opening was all it took.
