Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1795: Everything [Bonus]

Old Brama looked back at Sylas. He had been by the latterʼs side for long enough. He knew that no one needed to explain the situation to Sylas at all.

But now, Sylas had come here alone with only Old Brama himself for protection, and he was surrounded by enemies without the slightest hint of protection. If Old Brama chose to turn on him, he wouldnʼt just be facing a regular C-tier, but someone who had instead already exposed himself as someone who had been holding back his strength for a very, very long time.

The worst of it was that if Sylas still had Primus Luminaria, all of the strength Old Brama was displaying would be worthless. Because Old Brama didnʼt have the full Omnimous inheritance, he had to fill in gaps with Rune Mastery. If Sylas shut his ability to use Rune Mastery down, Old Brama would be no stronger than any of the C-tier present here.

But Sylas had just given up his Primus Luminaria not long ago, choosing instead to become the Luminaria of the Kaelthar Sector as opposed to the Milky Way Sector.

The only reliance Sylas might have had to get out of a situation like this-that being Germaine-was someone who would likely die the moment she attacked under the wrath of the system for interfering in a territory she shouldnʼt.

If they were in the Milky Way Galaxy, Sylas could waive that threat as the Progenitor. But once again... they were outside those boundaries.

No matter how you looked at it, even if by some miracle Sylas could find a way to deal with Zayreus, what would he do about Old Brama? And even if he managed to find a way to deal with Old Brama, how exactly was he going to deal with the rest of the C-tiers here?

They might be weak, but that was only relative to other C-tiers, not F-tiers like Sylas. The gap between the Tiers was far too large.

Not only would Sylas already understand all of this, he would certainly know of the dilemma that Old Brama was facing right now. He would even understand it quite well.

But understanding it and forgiving it were two very different things.

The exceptionally reason Old Brama couldnʼt possibly ever hope to pretend as though Sylas had their best interests at heart was because Sylas would always put his own first.

It didnʼt matter if he ”understood” where Brama was coming from. He surely understood where Jala had come from as well. And it could be argued that whatever sins that Jala had committed in Sylasʼ eyes would be far less than what Brama would do by betraying him right here and now.

This was the only reason Brama hesitated for so long.

And when he saw the same plain, unreadable, chilling expression on Sylasʼ face, the very same look he wore practically anywhere he went, he felt a cold rip up his spine.

Old Brama closed his eyes.

The world fell into a long silence for him, and time seemed to slow to a crawl. Everything was so distant and unapproachable. But... he knew that he had long made a decision.

Old Bramaʼs eyes snapped open and his gun swiveled. In one moment, it had been pointed toward Yaoyao and the others. In the next, it was pointed at Sylasʼ head.

The degree of separation between the two was not even two meters. Even after Old Brama had stepped forward, he hadnʼt left Sylasʼ side by far because he didnʼt want the latter to get harmed. To think that this would end up being used to do exactly that.

Old Brama didnʼt allow Zayreus to play any games. He didnʼt hesitate, nor did he wait.

The moment the laser gun was pointed at Sylasʼ head, he poured everything he had into it. He didnʼt care even if he blasted a trench through their entire planet.

All he knew was that when you turned on someone like Sylas, you didnʼt do it by part or half measures.

”STOP!” Zayreus roared, fury painting his brows.

He didnʼt want Sylas to die like this. He wanted to defeat Sylas himself, to give himself a chance to get the revenge he had been after for so long.

Sylas had humiliated their Race of people. As a small, minor F-tier, he had come in here, swinging around power that wasnʼt even his own. He had taken their resources, stomped on their pride, and accessed information he never should have as an outsider.

Even if it wasnʼt for his own petty revenge, Zayreus wouldnʼt want Sylas to die such an easy death.

But Old Brama made no attempt to stop, nor did he care to listen to Zayreus. They didnʼt understand the sort of monster Sylas was. They didnʼt know what it would mean if they gave this young man even the slightest chance of survival.

They forgot all too easily that not long ago, Sylas was much weaker and Old Brama had personally attacked him in his own fury. Granted, Old Brama hadnʼt used his full array of capabilities, but he had used all the raw power his body could exert in his human form.

And yet, even back then, Sylas had managed to survive by some miracle.

Maybe they all thought it was a fluke, maybe they had even forgotten about it, content to look into the future thinking that everything had changed because of Zayreus.

But Old Brama hadnʼt forgotten. And he had been there to watch this monster grow every step of the way.

If he was going to turn against him, he wasnʼt going to leave any quarter, he wasnʼt going to leave any doubt.

He unloaded everything he had, and deep inside his chest, a vessel in his heart opened up and Old Brama shifted into Unitaur form for the first time in centuries... and the first time for Sylas.

Old Brama, for as long as Sylas had known him, had perpetually walked around on two legs.

No more.

BOOM.

Old Brama unleashed it all.
