Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1789: Unfathomable Gap

Sylas knew that there would be aspects of Salivarʼs bloodline and past that he couldnʼt understand. While the man was only of the E-tier now, his parents and his Race were certainly well beyond that. As such, there were hidden complexities in his Race, Potential, and Free Chaos that made things not as straightforward to decipher as one would hope.

But even so, this was part of what made Reaper Sealwright so powerful. It was true that Sylas could never get a full picture. In fact, the Races and people that he could get a full scope of understanding from would likely be those he would never bother to use Reaper Sealwright on in the first place.

What he could see, though, was enough.

ʼI see. He has the special ability to split his Will Core. He had three of them, and that in turn split the layers above it. He then used his Race Quintessence to stabilize his Will Cores enough that they can all be active at the same time.ʼ

This sounded simple, but it was highly complex.

Race Quintessence was the deepest layer aside from Free Chaos and Potential. Will Core was one layer above that. Will Manifestation was a layer above that, followed by Soul Constructs and finally Comprehension.

Will Core could be considered to be the soul in a lot of aspects. It was where the vague, amorphous concept of personhood resided. By comparison, everything below it-Race Quintessence, Free Chaos, and Potential-were all things that formed the body itself. None of these three layers were exactly what made a person a person.

It could be said that Race Quintessence, Free Chaos, and Potential were the foundations of the body, a vessel in the physical world. Will Core was the first stake in the ground that made life truly life. While everything else was decided by your parents or what the universe randomly decided to assign to you, the things above that were what made you, you.

To split your Will Core was quite the task. It was no wonder Salivar struggled so mightily to progress. It would likely only have gotten more difficult for him as he progressed further through the tiers. Maybe Sylas had even done him a favor.

Still, understanding this and how it worked didnʼt exactly help Sylas to replicate it. It wasnʼt that easy.

Plus, Sylas was really pushing it at this point. His mind needed rest, and he seemed to refuse to give it.

Well, he had other reasons for that...

Unsurprisingly, the Void Domain was a lot easier to replicate. Sylas could use the Life Seal to pull out the exact sequence of Runes that caused it. It was hidden within Salivarʼs eyes.

However, though the Runes were E-tier, they were quite extensive.

Sylas reversed things using the Death Seal and then saw the version of the Seeing Eye before it progressed to E- tier. After seeing the F-tier version, he was able to replicate it quite easily.

ʼIt would take me some time to finish casting this in battle. Though...ʼ

An idea came to Sylasʼ mind.

Part of Sylasʼ new method of Archon Casting, and what allowed him to trigger Primus Luminaria in this new Sector, was a new method he had of connecting with the Mesh of Reality and the Void it overlaid.

Sylasʼ Will formed an imprint into the Mesh of Reality just like planets and stars did.

Back on Earth, the ”Mesh of Reality” was colloquially known as Spacetime. One of the most common ways of visualizing how gravity worked was imagining Spacetime like a stretched-out tarp. The planets and stars would be like heavy balls, while the things that orbited them were smaller spherical objects.

When you dropped these smaller objects onto the tarp already curved by the heft of the larger planets and stars, they would fall toward them, and that was essentially how gravity worked.

It was just bends in Spacetime measured on order of an objectʼs mass.

Sylas, much like every living being, had an effect on the Mesh of Reality as well. However, he had taken it to a whole other level.

His Will was slowly expanding into the void. Now, so long as he tapped into it, his ability to warp reality around him was on an unfathomable level compared to his Tier.

However, this was a Rune Mastery Path, not a unique Rune or something of the sort. Sylas had the ability, but not the method to make the very best use of it.

In that case... he would take this.

The Mesh of Reality around him was slowly being morphed into his own, sculpted by his very own hands. In that case... why not just imprint a Mesh of Runes right onto it that he could deploy at will with a push of his Will?

The moment Sylas had the thought, he began to slowly draw. There was no need for him to gain the Seeing Eye. In fact, he wasnʼt quite interested in it.

After he saw the true path of Willborne Intelligence, he actually felt that the Seeing Eye was a bit lacking compared to his needs.

It took Sylas only a few minutes to finish. Compared to the Seals, these F-tier Runes were orders of magnitude more easily replicated. Not only did it take Sylas only a few minutes to finish, but he didnʼt need something like Call of the Titan to do it.

Of course, his Life Seal had made the deciphering easier. They worked hand in hand to allow him to understand Salivarʼs lineage with greater ease.

In fact, Reaper Sealwright was so very powerful that Sylas didnʼt even notice something incredibly important right up until the very end...

As the Mesh of Reality trembled and Sylas seemed to vanish from the perception of all those around him, even his ship itself vanishing from detection, there was one thing that finally dawned on him as he relaxed... Where were Salivarʼs Gene Locks? He hadnʼt sensed a single one. The Seeing Eye should have an especially large number of protections on it.

That was when he realized...

So long as he was targeting things within the F-tier and E-tier, there was no Gene Lock the likes of the Seeing Eye Guild could produce that would give the Life Seal even a single moment of pause.

The gap was that large.
