Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1790: Torn Foundation

Sylas nodded to himself. This was good.

The simplest use of this would be that no one would be able to feel what Runes he was casting and react ahead of time. Well, one could consider there to be an even more fundamental use than that, that being how well he could hide his Will.

However, the use that Sylas liked the most was that the pressure on his Will decreased substantially while in this void. Because it was the void, there was nothing to resist against it. As such, though his Will stats hadnʼt changed at all, it was easily worth at least 10x what it had been before.

”Good.”

Sylas exhaled. For now, that would have to be enough. Figuring out how to use multiple Comprehensions at once would definitely take more study, and he didnʼt have the time right now.

He put Salivarʼs body away.

The Kaelthar had had a year of humiliation. There was simply no other way to describe it.

They lost their leader of this generation, leaving a gap in their talents. They ended up clashing with the Ossarans due to Sylasʼ schemes, leading to them redirecting many of their resources to make sure that that matter was handled. They ultimately failed to gain a foothold in the race to claim the Emperor Sanctumʼs Karma, and they lost a connection to many of the branches of the Warlord Sanctums they had managed to form.

As though all of that wasnʼt bad enough, their proudest son, the heir to their Empire, had lost his wife in a fashion they still didnʼt quite understand. All they knew was that she was dead, but their attempts to find out how had ended up flashing warning censors.

They had already overstepped once by sending Israeal to the Milky Way. The system was called impotent by many, but it was still something that had wiped out a Demi-God Clan down to its roots with great ease.

There was no way that anyone would take it lightly.

The Kaelthar had run out of runway and couldnʼt just act as they pleased anymore... at least not if it wasnʼt completely worth it.

Saeng and Isra werenʼt even sure what was worth it anymore, though. Even with all the horrors they had faced in the last year, there was still perhaps one thing worse than them all... And that was the fact the Demi-Godhood position was gone.

Everything they had sacrificed, everything that they had lost, it was all for naught. In the end, even the three strongest Mortal Clans had lost out.

It was in this situation, as they tried to figure out a new direction for their Kaelthar, that the Sector shook.

Saeng looked toward his wife for a moment before his Skai Eye split open. A crimson light poured out of it, and in an instant it seemed to have pierced across the universe.

”Primus Luminaria has been taken,” he said lightly.

”Who was the last to have it?” Isra asked the question casually, as though she had already assumed that it was someone of their Clan who had it.

This was good news, but it wasnʼt news quite good enough for them to care a great deal.

There was a whole spectrum of Rune Mastery Paths. And if the last Primus Luminaria was dead, it wasnʼt necessarily a Path stronger than the current one that had appeared. It might very well be a lot weaker.

But there was a chance that it was particularly strong. Unfortunately, even that came with its own problems.

If it was someone who had a powerful Rune Mastery Path and wasnʼt of their direct line, they would have to figure out how to maneuver this new reality.

Saeng didnʼt answer his wife immediately, and then he frowned.

”It was two generations ago.”

The way the Thryskai counted generations was very unlike. Israeal had been the number one of his generation, and he was at the top of the most recent batch of children the Patriarch-Matriarch duo had given birth to.

To say two generations ago, though, meant that the one who had this Title was in their heirʼs generation. They were very much alive. Which meant that their Title had just been stripped from them.

”Ah, right.” Isra nodded. ”It was Velumʼs girl, right? If I recall correctly, it was an inferior method not worth considering, so we chose not to invest too much.”

Saeng still didnʼt reply.

”Husband?”

Saeng finally looked over at his wife. ”Itʼs an outsider.”

Isra sat up a little taller, placing down her crocheting materials. If her husband was so serious, there had to be a reason for it. By outsider, he likely meant someone they couldnʼt control easily at all.

[System-Wide Message]

[The Primus Luminaria has been born. As the third wielder of this Contested Title, Sylas Grimblade will be awarded an added effect: Kingly Suppression] -

The message pulsed before their faces and was sent to every member of their Sector.

Sylas Grimblade... that name...

Saengʼs eyes narrowed. He recognized this name. It had come up more than once on the reports of what happened during the gathering of the Warlord Sanctums. It was a name likewise tied to the one that led the 073 Sanctum to defeat their Bat Lineage several times... it was also the name responsible for why the 073 Sanctum was no longer the 073 Sanctum... They were now the 001 Sanctum.

But why was he here?

Isra suddenly raised a hand to her chest, her eyes pulsing as color drained from her face.

Saeng was already up and by her side in an instant, grabbing a hold of her arm. Veins of blue lined her skin, her breathing coming out in harsh gasps.

Panic flashed in Saengʼs eyes before he forced himself to calm down. In an instant, he took out a coffin from his spatial device and placed his wife inside, hurriedly closing it and sealing her in time and frost.

Saeng didnʼt even get to exchange another word with his wife before all of this happened, but he knew there was only one thing.

She had lost her Dominus Paragon Title, and because of it, the foundation of strength she had built upon 10x stats had been ripped out from under her.

Her mind was literally crumbling from the inside out.

His wife was dying.
