Omega Summoner

Chapter 2331: Scarcity in the North III

”You should have left at least one alive so we could trail it and find out the culprit.” Frey stated as the entire area has become a crater, but the village area is still safe.

”We have Levin Cloud for that. He might not be a bloodhound but as long as they entered the forest then he could check its memory. Also, I think they will not be returning anyways as they have already lost all their mind from whatever is controlling them.” Peridot stated.

”The wood elves will restore the broken soil and other things. I will check the forest now while I am still in this form.” Levin Cloud stated as he turned to vines that crawled through the ground.

”I guess I should also check the other areas as well since there might be some flying monsters that we did not catch.” Peridot stated as she summoned her Qilin and flew around the village.

”Lady Frey, are those powerful beings your companions?” One of the warriors in the village asked.

”They are my friends which is why you should not fear them as much. Also, they are elves but not like those in the legends told by the people of old.” Frey stated.

”I mean we already know that they are not the elves in the legends that talked about. The elves that are talked about in the legend do not have green tinged skin. The elves in the legend have skin that is the same color as snow with eyes that are blue as a lake.” The warrior stated.

”They might have been what we call the Frost Elves. All of elven kind despises them because they are beings that have done the taboo.” One of the wood elves suddenly stated.

”What do you mean taboo? Did they eat meat or something as elves are usually vegetarian?” Frey stated.

”It is a common misconception that we do not eat meat because we are vegetarian. Some elves just process food differently than others of our race. For example, the wood elves get more energy from the bounty of mother nature. Hence, we usually eat more vegetables than meat-based products.” The wood elf stated.

”Sorry about that. I guessed I might have offended you but what is the taboo they have committed?” Frey stated.

”The taboo that the Frost Elves committed back then is the fact that they devoured the Frost Spirit King that was their guardian because they were drunk on power. This transformed their flesh to become extremely pale white and their beautiful blue eyes losing their brilliance. They consumed the body of the Frost Spirit King which granted them immense power to the cold but also cursed their existence.” The wood elf stated.

”Cursed? What kind of curse was placed on them?” Frey asked.

”They were cursed to never leave the coldest regions from which they live. Any form of heat will become their weakness. If they get exposed to intense heat, then they will die from it as their own body temperature needs the cold to survive. Just the sun shining on them will make their skin burn.” The wood elf stated.

Levin Cloud entered the forest and could not detect life forces of the monsters. He activated his ability to look into the memories of the trees. A path is suddenly opened to his mind about the direction where the monster horde began. He went to the direction as it is still inside the forest and did not notice he went deeper and deeper.

He did not heed the warning that Frey told him about as forests in the northern continent are dangerous. It is not just monsters that could be hiding in them as there are a lot of mystical beings that reside in them. There could even be ice golems that were created by ancient wizards of the northern continent hiding in these frozen forests.

Levin Cloud managed to reach deep into the forest as he followed the trail where the monster horde started. He already traversed for about twenty minutes, but he has yet to see the other end of the forest. It seems that this is a monster zone as he could not feel life forces of other beings in the forest. All of these life forces were now looking at him with curiosity as they were debating whether he is a predator or prey.

”I should get back for now. We will just fly over this forest if we have to or have the Valkyries themselves survey the direction.” Levin Cloud stated as he turned back only to have numerous ice arrows get launched towards him.

Levin Cloud immediately reacted and slammed his right arm on the ground to create a large bramble shield. The bramble shield protected him from the volley of ice arrows that also froze the vines that protected him. The ice arrows that made contact with the vines turned it completely into ice. Any succeeding ice arrows that hit destroyed Levin Cloudʼs barrier but that is not the thing that he is concerned about.

”These attacks are filled with the power of an elemental!” Levin Cloud muttered as he is not compatible with the elementals.

Even if Elementals and the Faekin inhabit Alfheim together, they are not beings that necessarily coexist with each other. There are some exchanges here and there but both races usually keep to themselves. The reason for this is that Elementals are very volatile when young and could easily destroy things.

The fact that Elementals also use raw natural energy to use their attacks is not a good thing for the Faekin. The Faekin can be easily harmed by raw natural energy even though they use it themselves. Incidents have happened in the past which is why the elementals and the Faekin live at different parts of Alfheim. Still, the elementals and Faekin have a deep understanding that they should not fight against each other.

”If it is an elemental, where is it though? I cannot detect the life force of an elemental in the area.” Levin Cloud stated as another round of ice arrows were released towards him.

”No… this is not the work of an elemental. They might be a being that is close to an elemental that they can mimic their powers. They are also incredibly adept at hiding their presence that I could not even detect their life force.” Levin Cloud thought as he could not pinpoint where the enemy was.

”If you will not show yourself then I shall level this entire forest myself! Wrath of the Forest!” Levin Cloud shouted as he used the Leshy exclusive skill that used the power of the forest to deal damage in the area.

A powerful burst of energy came from Levin Cloudʼs body and the forest itself reacted to it. A large clump of mana suddenly created an explosion with him at the epicenter. The entire area that he flooded with mana got destroyed and the volley of ice arrows stopped but Levin Cloud did not get a notification that he killed his enemies.

”Even their names are still concealed. I should escape while I can still do it.” Levin Cloud thought as he transformed into vines and escaped via the ground.

Levin Cloud did not want to test his chances against an unknown enemy. Despite being hit by the power of the Wrath of the Forest, the ones that attacked him were relatively safe which meant that they might be higher level than him. He did not want to risk getting killed here as there is still the issue with the food of the people in the north.

”The Forest Guardian escaped.” A voice from the snow itself stated as multiple humanoid beings could now be seen as their camouflage is no longer concealing them.

”Let it be. All we needed to do was confirm that they are true.” An older and more refined voice replied.

About fifty beings that have elven ears with pale white skin and bland blue eyes could be seen in the area where Levin Cloud was at. All of them wore thin clothes with frosted crystals as embellishments. The dull gray hair on their heads also stood out as this and their eyes are the only things of color in their form. They were beings that matched the description of Frost Elves from the tales of the northern people.

”We have confirmed that a Forest Guardian is in our midst. Lifting the curse will only be a matter of time if the words of the Eternally Starving One is to be believed. Let us return and prepare for the hunt is on.” The refined Frost Elf Elder stated as they vanished into the depths of the frosted forest.

”What happened to the Frost Elves?” Frey asked the wood elf.

”All of them should have died as consuming an elemental would mean that they need to consume another being like them in order to sustain themselves.” The wood elf replied.
