Chapter 2330: Scarcity in the North II

”They are too hungry that they are now eating each other.” Peridot stated as she could not bear to look at the gory mess that the monster horde is creating.

[The monsters are suddenly afflicted by a strange frenzy.]

[All monsters that have devoured others affected by the strange frenzy will gain some of the stats of the devoured monsters.]

[Monsters that devoured other frenzied monsters will have the Hungered modifier attached to their names.]

[Hungered effect: Increases the stats of monster by 20% but doubles the stamina consumption.]

All of the monsters that devoured other monsters looked like they have lost their minds. The large monster horde that was charging towards the fields to steal crops were now halved because they basically devoured each other. The monsters that have devoured other monsters suddenly had their eyes glow red as a testament that they are now afflicted with the Hungered status.

The monsters that are afflicted with the Hungered status no longer ate the other monster because they have already devoured all those that died. Apparently, the monsters gathered in the horde did not devour living monsters which all of them found strange. If the monsters had no self-control, then they would have killed each other until only one remain but they moved with intention.

”Someone is controlling them.” Levin Cloud stated as all the monsters suddenly looked towards him with the eyes of a predator.

The monsters looked at Levin Cloud as prey because he was the one that is filled to the brim with overflowing life energy. The one controlling the monster horde implanted a command to each of the monsters to gather powerful sources of energy. This time the monster horde will not do it accidentally like before but intentionally as the one that commanded them wished for powerful energy.

”A little help because they are looking at me like I am a piece of meat!” Levin Cloud stated.

The monsters that regained their stamina and stats all ignored the vine fence as they easily jumped over them. Some even used their bodies to ram against the fence while others that were still hungry basically took a bite of the vine fence. It did not take long for the vine fence created by Levin Cloud to become unable to protect them.

”I got this one.” Peridot stated as two of her gems glowed.

Peridot crushed a blue and grey stone and summoned the wind and rain. Even the monsters that were charging towards Levin Cloud became a bit wary when the temperature shifted. Still, a little wind and rain never hurt anybody until someone can bring the storm.

”Torrential Rain!” Peridot shouted as her dragon horns glowed.

A powerful burst of wind and rain covered the area in front of them as if Peridot summoned a tsunami to hit the land. The monsters were not heavily damage by the spell, but they were greatly pushed back. Also, the monsters that is said to have powerful resistances against the cold suddenly started shivering.

”Why are they cold?” Levin Cloud asked as he could not believe that monsters from the northern continent felt cold.

”Will you not feel cold when you got drenched in the rain and then suddenly got blasted with a very cold air conditioner?” Peridot stated as she chuckled.

Usually, Peridot would use this combination of spells with another spell that could bring hail but opted not to because they are in the northern continent. The monsters did not care if they are shivering as they continued to move. Peridot smiled though as the monsters are also slowed because of what she did.

”A very nice finishing touch it is! Heavy Blizzard!” Peridot stated as she crushed a stone that looked like a small snowflake.

As soon as she crushed the stone with looked like a small snowflake, a powerful cold wind blew from behind Peridot. This wind not only carried the cold air but also lots of ice and snow. It did not take long for the entire area in front of them to be covered in thick snow. Snow so thick that some monsters were buried alive as a result.

”I guess I can still be surprised and be surprised that monsters from the northern continent could die from ice magic.” Frey stated as she is once again shocked.

”I know that I am awesome. You just look at Equinox a lot which is why you barely notice what I can do. Not that I am complaining as I know that my best friend is very nice to look at.” Peridot stated as she even teased Frey at the end.

The village warriors soon reached the destination of the monster horde but all they saw is a large pile of snow. The couple that was saved earlier alerted the village as per Freyʼs order and the village warriors came to provide aid as a monster horde was reported. What the village warriors did not expect is the fact that the monster horde was already taken care off before they arrived.

”It is not yet over. There are still signs of life from beneath the snow.” Levin Cloud reported as he could feel and see the life energy of some monsters not dissipating.

The snow rumbled as monsters with large resistance to the cold managed to free themselves from the snow. Frey is about to charge but Peridot told them to stand their ground. Frey is about to question Peridot, but she then pointed to the sky where a large flaming meteor is now falling down to that exact location as we speak.

”An extinction event should wrap this battle up really nicely.” Peridot stated as the meteor landed at the exact spot where most of the monsters dug themselves up from the snow.

The monsters that managed to dig themselves up have shifted their gazes upwards. A powerful heat enveloped their body as the last thing that they have seen is a large flaming rock before they died. The large meteor hit the area with a loud explosion and Levin Cloud had to create another vine fence to protect them from the shockwave.
