Chapter 1666: Evernight Conquest (5)

After seeing that the Evernight Dukes had no opinions, the Midnight Duke calmly explained.

”The current situation is simple. The Undead Boundary continues weakening. The Corpse Clan has begun mobilization. The Realmbreaker Conquest Ark is moving toward the Main Battlefield.”

His finger moved across the projection, and several regions lit up as he spoke, ”We have established four primary fronts.”

The northern region glowed crimson.

”The First Battlefront.”

The western region followed.

”The Second Battlefront.”

Then south.

”The Third Battlefront.”

Finally, east.

”The Fourth Battlefront.”

The Midnight Duke looked toward the gathered Evernight Dukes.

”Dread Duchess, the First Battlefront is yours.” His finger shifted as he continued, ”Enchantress Demon Duchess will oversee the Second Battlefront. The Yin Duchess, the Third Battlefront, and the Corpse Duke will be commanding the Fourth Battlefront.”

The Evernight Dukes merely glanced at the battlefields without any opinion since it didn’t matter where they were deployed; their task was the same, and they gave a silent nod.

The Midnight Duke continued, ”As for myself...”

The projection expanded, and the colossal silhouette of the Realmbreaker Conquest Ark appeared at the center.

”I shall remain aboard the Ark. My responsibilities are coordinating all fronts, maintaining logistical support, overseeing the main battlefield, and monitoring the Undead Boundary.”

No one objected, and truthfully, this arrangement was the most reasonable. The Midnight Duke was the most powerful among them and currently had the greatest familiarity with the Undead Cradle. Not to mention, controlling the Realmbreaker Conquest Ark required his authority.

Dread Duchess simply shrugged, Yin Duchess nodded, Enchantress Demon Duchess smiled lazily, and Corpse Duke remained silent; like this, the arrangements were quickly accepted.

Or so it seemed because at that moment, Dread Duchess suddenly spoke, ”It seemed the official business is done? May I speak freely now, Lord Midnight Duke?”

The Yin Duchess looked at her with surprise before a cold glimmer flickered in her eyes. The Enchantress Demon Duchess’s eyes instantly lit up as if the show was about to begin, while the Corpse Duke remained composed, his thoughts unknown.

The Midnight Duke felt subtle irritation, but he kept his calm composure and nodded, ”Of course, if you have anything to add or on your mind, please speak freely.”

The Dread Duchess nodded as she impassively spoke, ”Please don’t take offense, Lord Midnight, I have no objections or qualms with your arrangement, nor would I dare to doubt your leadership abilities since you are, after all, the chief conquest strategist of the Evernight Council!

”Moreover, we’ve both joined hands in many conquests before, and I had been one of the vanguards when this Undead Secret Realm was discovered. That’s why I waited until now to speak, and my fellow Dukes here also would have similar questions.”

”We do?” The Enchantress Demon Duchess curiously added.

But everyone ignored her as the Dread Duchess continued, ”So I’m going to be blunt and ask for some clarifications if you don’t mind, of course.”

The Midnight Duke impassively nodded, ”Please.”

The Dread Duchess continued, ”I want to know what exactly happened with the Undead Boundary? How did it turn from being impenetrable to vulnerable? Moreover, in those projections, I’ve noticed something peculiar in the sky of the secret realm. What is it exactly?”

The other three dukes instantly grew alert, as they were very curious about these things but didn’t want to displease the Midnight Duke. Even the Yin Duchess had to admit that, despite her hatred for the Dread Duchess, the latter was really fearless and blunt, but she was asking all the right questions.

The Midnight Duke felt the Dread Duchess’s questions weren’t unreasonable either, despite her slightly authoritative tone. Moreover, since they were all part of the King Circle, he could share these details with them and had no reason to hide anything.

”About the Undead Boundary’s sudden deterioration, truthfully, even I don’t know, nor do the two majesties currently present within the Secret Realm, and they are probably investigating this exact thing as we speak.” The Midnight Duke’s words caused the Evernight Dukes’ expressions to change behind their masks.

Even the Dread Duchess was startled as her heart raced wildly, ”Two majesties? Do you perhaps mean...?”

The Midnight Duke felt secretly pleased with the Dread Duchess’s reaction and nodded without hesitation, ”The Evernight Demon King and Evernight Fiend King are already present in the secret realm. As for their whereabouts, as I’ve said, they are most likely investigating the Undead Boundary!”

The four Evernight Dukes grew serious; even the playful Enchantress Demon Duchess turned solemn. If two Evernight Kings were present here, it would change everything, and they couldn’t take this task lightly or perform half-heartedly.

As for why they were summoned here despite the presence of two Evernight Kings, it was obvious yet elusive at the same time.

Obvious, because the two kings were planning to use this war as the Evernight Trial and summoned them to ensure the participants would only encounter opponents they could deal with.

Elusive because the same thing could be done by just one Evernight King, or they could’ve sent the Darkwise Duke in their stead.

The Midnight Duke, as if guessing their thoughts, continued, ”And about the ’thing’ in the sky, it seemed like a ’totem’ or maybe some phenomenon caused by the Undead Boundary.

”Believe it or not, that ’owl’ seemed to be greatly connected with the deterioration of the Undead Boundary because it appeared all of a sudden, and right after that, the Undead Boundary underwent a drastic change.

”Right now, the owl is the biggest mystery and something to be wary of, and the reason behind the two majesties’ interest and personally investigating it.

”Moreover, I personally believed that the ’owl,’ which, by the way, seemed to have a title of ’Sky Stealer’, might be some ancient entity hidden or sealed within the secret realm. Or...”

Realization dawned on the Evernight Dukes at that moment as they finally understood what had happened and why the Evernight Kings even bothered to come here.

But the Midnight Duke’s next words made the Evernight Dukes’ expression change even more as he uttered with a hint of greed, ”Or... it could be the birth of a peerless treasure!”
