Eternal Thief

Chapter 1658: The Real Hunt Being! (3)

The moment Ace heard that devilish voice through the special connection, he curled up slightly, knowing the owner of that voice from the heart, and looked in a certain direction.

He replied nonchalantly, ”Heh, there’s no need for my dear wife to interfere with something so trivial. In fact, I preferred it this way, and like this feeling of being looked down upon since they won’t even know what hit them if I decided to steal their wealth.”

At this moment, not far from ’Kharon’, Eva, in her abyssal black dress, her bewitching face veiled, sat alone on an imposing crystal-black throne.

But despite her regal and ravishing appearance, no one seemed to perceive her as all those participants walked past her as if she were merged with her surroundings.

Eva had long sensed Ace’s arrival, but she didn’t approach him, as she knew it would draw too much attention right now, since he wasn’t Nomad anymore, nor did she show herself to anyone, because she couldn’t be bothered to deal with those annoying fleas.

However, with the Ring of Endearment’s special connection, they can easily communicate with each other within a certain range without needing the system’s help or spirit transmission.

Eva, despite a few miles separating them, could sense Ace’s gentle gaze on her, and happiness bloomed in her heart before she curtly replied, ”It’s a nice trick, as expected of my dear husband, who is great at causing trouble.”

Ace’s eye spasmed and wryly replied, ”Trust me, I had no idea about this peculiar trait of my thief symbol. But the Evernight Council or the Corpse Clan won’t be able to figure out that the Sky Stealer is just a thief from the Abyss of Wandering Souls as long as my thief symbol won’t surface outside this secret realm.”

”Well, you got a point.” Eva acknowledged before she sternly said, ”But you can’t deny this has completely disrupted the flow of things for us. With what you’ve told me, I’m pretty sure the Evernight Council won’t care about the Evernight Trial anymore, and they’ll directly go after the Corpse Clan.”

Ace also became serious as he replied, ”Indeed, with the Undead Boundary gone, I don’t think they’ll wait for the Evernight Trial to proceed as they had initially planned, especially now with this sudden announcement.

”Moreover, the Corpse Clan was also supposed to be part of the Hunter’s Hunt as they were given the task to hunt Half-Moon Hunters, and Hunts as they pleased while staying away from the Full-Moon Hunters, who happened to be those with the Evernight Invitations.

”Not only that, but the Corpse Clan was supposed to provide Rings of Hunt and Half-Moon Hunters to those Full-Moon Hunters who hadn’t completed the requirements for the Hunter’s Hunt just before the trial was over.

”Oh, and if any of the Full-Moon Hunters were to fall in grave danger, they were supposed to assist them and save their lives at all costs.”

A cold glint flickered in Ace’s eyes as he scoffed, ”From the start, not a single Full-Moon Hunter could have died in the Hunter’s Hunt while the Lone Hunter was supposed to be killed by any means possible. The Ring of Lone Hunter, in the end, would be given to the Full-Moon Hunter with the most kills if the Corpse Clan had taken the Lone Hunter down.”

Killing intent flashed in Eva’s eyes the moment she heard the entire truth about the Hunter’s Hunt and how much the Evernight Council wanted to make things difficult for Nomad.

But she couldn’t help but sneer disdainfully, ”Well, I guess then they lucked out this time around because they had no idea who was going to kill whom once they dared to come after you.”

”Heh, it would’ve been quite a show if I’d directly targeted the Full-Moon Hunters that the Evernight Council wanted to protect so much.” Ace coldly chuckled, ”But this is also good because if the Evernight Council held enmity towards Nomad or the Moonless Wandering King, then eventually, Nomad would’ve met a terrible misfortune, and I would’ve been forced to improvise.

”Now, with the Ring of Lone Hunter inside my Thief’s Space, even the Evernight Kings won’t be able to deduce what happened to Nomad, and most likely consider him killed by the Corpse Clan. I’m afraid they might even try to use his death as a pretext to contact the Moonless Wandering King.”

Even jeered disdainfully, ”Then let those fools contact the Moonless Wandering King; they’ll surely be humiliated once they find there is no Nomad in this world, but to do that, they need to find the Moonless Wandering King first.

”There is one thing that even the Evernight Council or anyone besides the Lord of the Bone Mercenary City and his chosen few knows: the Moonless Wandering King couldn’t be contacted for over a thousand years now.

”That’s why I even dared to use his name to create Nomad, so when the time to dispose of this identity came, nothing could be traced back to me.”

Ace already knew this because Eva had been the nightmare of the Bone Mercenary City, and because of her terrifying thievery and her bloodline, there wasn’t any secret she couldn’t find.

That’s why he didn’t even hesitate to discard Nomad’s identity, despite knowing that Eva would be under scrutiny if the Moonless Wandering King revealed there was no Nomad, because she was the one who had guaranteed his identity to the Dread Duchess.

”You indeed have done a great job.” Ace lovingly praised before he seriously asked, ”But now is not the time to bask in triumph; we are still far away from our real objective of infiltrating the Evernight Sanctuary. Now, with the Undead Cradle on the brink of war, I’m sure this Evernight Trial is going to turn into something nasty.

”Moreover, with what I’ve seen, unless the Evernight Kings personally move, it would be a long conquest against the Corpse Clan. Not only were they hard to kill because of their Undead Souls, but they also had multiple corpse vessels they could use as substitutes, especially those Grand Abyssal Lord and Half-Abyssal Kings.

”Lastly, there should still be many hidden trump cards of the Corpse Clan, and before, they might not have even used them since they weren’t on the brink of extinction.”

Ace’s eyes flared with coldness, ”If the Evernight Council really wants to kill talents from the other powers, and even their own, this war couldn’t be a more appropriate opportunity!”
