Eternal Thief

Chapter 1660: The Real Hunt Being! (5)

Among the crowd, Ace, who had been listening to everything, couldn’t help but snicker faintly as he communicated with Eva, ”Just as I’ve told you, the Evernight Council is totally going to use these clueless guys as cannon fodder against low-ranking members of the Corpse Clan. After all, it isn’t easy to kill a Corpse Cultivator, especially with their Undead Souls.”

Eva’s lips curled up slightly as Ace had already told her many things about the Corpse Clan, and even she thought the Evernight Council was really ruthless.

”Well, as far as I know, the Evernight Council won’t let everyone here die because there are also many geniuses of their own, not to mention some of them were direct descendants or heirs of the Evernight Dukes like myself.

”Unless they didn’t want the Evernight Dukes to cause trouble or lost faith in the Evernight Council, they won’t go too far. Lastly, this is no longer about just culling talents, but this is a war, and the more these guys kill the Corpse Clan, the easier it is for the Evernight Council to focus on the true threats!”

Ace didn’t refute Eva’s assumption and kept observing how things develop from here on out.

On the other hand, Marquis Demonic Fist let the participants absorb the information and waited calmly until the noise gradually subsided.

At this moment, he spoke again, ”These changes were implemented due to extraordinary circumstances within the secret realm. I am not obligated to explain further, nor to the Evernight Council.”

His tone left no room for questions before he spoke again, ”However, since this trial’s difficulty has risen slightly, the rewards will be adjusted accordingly.”

Immediately, countless eyes lit up at the news, while some grew gloomy, knowing the underlying meaning behind the Marquis’s words.

Marquis Demonic Fist’s voice thundered, ”Participants who perform exceptionally during this campaign will receive rewards equal to, or greater than, those originally promised by the Hunter’s Hunt.

”The Evernight Council does not mistreat merit. The more contributions you make, the greater your rewards.”

Excitement instantly spread through the crowd, and even some previously nervous Hunts became interested.

Marquis Demonic Fist continued, ”All detailed information regarding objectives, rewards, contribution rankings, and battlefield assignments will be transmitted through your trial rings. Your trial rings will also monitor and record your performance.”

Suddenly, at this moment, his eyes turned cold as he sternly announced, ”In addition. Infighting between participants is strictly prohibited. Any participant who deliberately attacks another participant without authorization from the Evernight Council shall be severely punished.”

The crowd fell quiet again as those words made many Hunters frown. Meanwhile, thousands of Hunts visibly relaxed for the greatest danger they feared had suddenly disappeared.

Marquis Demonic Fist raised his hand, and at that moment, countless rings emitted pale blue light.

”Furthermore. The ’Hunt’ designation among the participants is hereby revoked. Meaning there will be no longer ’Hunt’ among the participants!”

A brief silence followed, then countless Hunts widened their eyes.

”All Hunts are now promoted. You shall henceforth be designated as Crescent-Moon Hunters alongside Half-Moon Hunters and Full-Moon Hunters!”

Relief immediately spread through the former Hunts; many nearly laughed out loud, and some even clenched their fists in excitement because they would no longer be prey or hunted simply because of a ring. The burden weighing on them vanished instantly.

Marquis Demonic Fist continued indifferently, ”Finally, the Lone Hunter designation is also revoked.”

No explanation followed, and no further details were given.

Ace merely raised an eyebrow as he coldly said, ”As expected, they weren’t able to find Nomad, so they most likely presumed him dead.”

”Heh, in the end, the Evernight Council had quietly erased Nomad’s existence from the trial. But I wonder who they are planning to give an explanation to, my master or the Moonless Wandering King!” Eva scoffed playfully.

Except for Ace and Eva, no one in the crowd seemed to care as they were too focused on the other revelations.

Marquis Demonic Fist’s expression grew solemn at that moment, as if he were about to explain something very important.

”Since the changes within the Hunter’s Hunt are announced, I’m going to tell you about the actual ’hunts’ of this trial, the Corpse Clan!

”The enemy you will face is unlike ordinary cultivators. The Corpse Clan are members of the Undead Race, meaning they possess Undead Souls that grant them a disgusting ability they call ’False-Immortality’.

”But in truth, an Undead Soul is born after a cultivator killed themselves emotionally, discarding the identities they are born with, their bloodlines, clans, and their very being.

”Evidently, the Undead Soul is a state where one can’t live or die, and eventually, they succumbed to madness and hunger for power. That’s why it is the duty of every living abyssal being to purge the Undead Race so they won’t tempt others to walk on this path of ruin.

”Nonetheless, the Undead Soul also grants the Undead Race supernatural power over death, and in the case of the Corpse Clan, destroying their bodies alone is insufficient.”

A ripple of concern spread through the crowd as Marquis Demonic Fist continued.

”The Corpse Clan can abandon damaged vessels as well as possess multiple bodies with their unique cultivation method of the Corpse Race. Some can even seize weaker targets and take over their bodies while consuming their souls in the process. This is also their way to gain power!”

Those words immediately caused many expressions to darken, and they finally understood that the Corpse Clan sounded far more troublesome than expected.

However, a faint cruel smile appeared on Marquis Demonic Fist’s face as he spoke, ”But fortunately for you and unfortunately for the Corpse Clan, the Evernight Council had long anticipated this issue, and after fighting them for a prolonged time, we have methods that can render their Undead Soul useless!”

The very next moment, the rings on everyone’s fingers suddenly flashed.

”To ensure fairness and make sure the Corpse Clan won’t have such a disgusting advantage over you all, the Evernight Council has decided to provide every participant with a complete set of anti-undead combat spells!”

The crowd erupted again, and even Ace looked mildly surprised because Eva had already predicted it. The Evernight Council was serious about destroying the Corpse Clan!

”The techniques have already been transmitted to your rings. They contain methods specifically designed to suppress Undead Souls, destroy Corpse Qi, and counter possession techniques.

”As for whether you can master them...” His bronze eyes swept across everyone, ”...depends entirely on your own talent and comprehension.”

Immediately, countless participants inspected their rings, and many became ecstatic upon sensing their contents. The Evernight Council had truly gone all out.

Marquis Demonic Fist finally raised his voice, making the heavens tremble, ”The Hunter’s Hunt officially begins now!”
