Chapter 1662: Evernight Conquest (1)

All three Protector Envoys were present, who were supposed to be looking over the Evernight Gate. The lantern-bearing envoy. The chain-bearing envoy. The faceless envoy whose empty hands distorted space itself.

Even the Evernight Dukes were surprised by their sudden appearance and by gathering them together like this, but they knew that, whatever the case, it must be important enough to warrant warning the Protector Envoys!

As for looking over the Evernight Gate, first of all, it wasn’t connected to the Evernight Sanctuary at the moment, and, most importantly, not even an Abyssal King could infiltrate it because the Evernight Gate itself was a spirit treasure of Upper-Abyssal Grade-9.

Moreover, it was also the Evernight Gate that had helped the Evernight Sanctuary to connect with countless mysterious secret realms, not to mention it was also connected to the core of the Evernight Sanctuary, an impenetrable fortress!

That’s why the Protector Envoys were only there to intimidate the Abyssal Plains and announce the Evernight Council’s will. Once everything was on track, the Protector Envoys would’ve returned, along with the Evernight Dukes, who were planning to go back.

But the Evernight Dukes and Protector Envoys were never meant to be together because of the vast difference between their statuses and their roles. Yet here they were as silence dominated the chamber.

At that moment, the First Protector Envoy slowly raised the lantern, the eye within it opened, and crimson light spread across the hall.

The Evernight Dukes straightened slightly, and even Dread Duchess narrowed her eyes.

The Envoy finally spoke; its voice appeared directly within everyone’s souls, ”We have received new information.”

The atmosphere instantly became heavier as the First Envoy continued, ”A new development has appeared within the trial grounds.”

At those words, every Evernight Duke became attentive; even the usually carefree Enchantress Demon Duchess lost her smile ever so slightly, with a hint of concern that vanished instantly.

”What are you talking about?” The Dread Duchess coldly questioned, eerie killing intent rising in her devilish eyes, ”Did something happen to my heir?”

The Dread Duchess’s only concern was the Evil Diva because the latter was the only person she ever considered close to family, and she didn’t even hesitate to call her ’heir’ like this, which meant she was confident that the Evil Diva would definitely inherit her title as the ’Dread Duchess’.

On the other hand, the other Evernight Dukes also showed faint traces of agitation, even the hostile Yin Duchess didn’t retort to Dread Duchess.

The lantern-eye narrowed before ’it’ uttered words that caused the entire hall to freeze, ”The Hunter’s Hunt is taking place in the ’Quasi-Conquered Secret Realm’, the Undead Secret Realm of Corpse Clan!”

The moment the envoy revealed this information, which was supposed to be only known to them once they were inside the Evernight Sanctuary, the Evernight Dukes were astounded because everyone there knew about the Undead Secret Realm.

After all, it was the only Secret Realm under the Evernight Council that had the status of ’Quasi-Conquered’, and not even the mighty Evernight Fiend King could do anything about it!

Dread Duchess’s eyes narrowed dangerously as she uttered, ”What does this have to do with this new development that required the esteemed three protector envoys to show themselves and gather us here?

”Don’t tell me that the turtle Corpse Governor has finally gone deranged, and decided to court death instead of hiding away in his turtle shell?

”Moreover, last time I checked, the Evernight Alliance Hub is being managed by the Midnight Duke, and since the Hunter’s Hunt has been taking place there, the Midnight Duke has to be there. Just what is going on?”

No one was surprised that Dread Duchess had extensive information about the Undead Cradle, because she was one of the Evernight Dukes who had taken part in the realm conquest, and she had killed so many Corpse Clan members that even the Corpse Commanders would feel dread at the mere mention of her name.

More importantly, it was a rumor that the Dread Duchess seemed to have some kind of ill-fated connection with the current Corpse Governor.

But because of the Undead Boundary, the Dread Duchess lost interest in the Undead Cradle, and after taking command of the Obsidian Myriad Kingdom, she had almost forgotten about the Corpse Governor, for the latter was just an insignificant coward who didn’t have the guts to avenge even his companion.

This time, it was the chain-bearing envoy who replied to Dread Duchess’s inquiries, ”We’ve received direct words from the regal majesty, the Evernight Devil King. It seemed that the Undead Boundary of the Undead Realm is starting to wane!”

For the first time since entering the hall, visible shock appeared on the faces of several Evernight Dukes, and even the Dread Duchess’s regal demeanor shifted from stern to flabbergasted.

The Yin Duchess’s icy eyes widened, the Corpse Duke’s fingers tightened imperceptibly beneath his sleeve, and the Enchantress Demon Duchess blinked as if she didn’t hear anything.

”Repeat that again!” Dread Duchess’s aura rose as she demanded in an irrefutable tone.

The Protector Envoys weren’t intimidated by her aura in the least bit, as the First Envoy continued coldly at his own pace, ”The situation within the Undead Secret Realm has exceeded the limits of the Hunter’s Hunt.”

The chains carried by the Second Envoy suddenly rattled, and a chilling sound echoed throughout the chamber before the First Envoy delivered the statement.

”That’s why the Hunter’s Hunt is no longer just an ordinary Evernight Trial, but has turned into Evernight Conquest. Thus, his regal majesty, the Evernight Fiend King, has decided to let the participants join the conquest against the Corpse Clan and use their battle merits to determine their worth!

”Furthermore, two regal majesties, the Evernight Fiend King and Evernight Demon King, have already entered the Undead Realm to further observe the Undead Boundary, and according to the latest information, the Undead Boundary will be weak enough in two fortnights to create an opening to enter.

”During this buffer period, the Dread Duchess, Yin Duchess, Enchantress Demon Duchess, and Corpse Duke have to enter the Secret Realm and help the Midnight Duke to create various perimeters.

”Once the conquest starts, you must take down the enemy’s Half-Abyssal Kings and ensure they won’t interfere with the participants while gathering all the hidden resources of the Undead Boundary!”
