Eternal Thief

Chapter 1648: Incredible Progress

Ace blinked in slight astonishment, ”...That’s it?”

He looked toward the quietly floating die with uncertainty, as nothing catastrophic or miraculous had yet happened, but for some reason Ace felt faintly uncomfortable, perhaps anticipatory, as if something favorable might happen to him in the near future.

Still, compared to the terrifying description of the Abyssal Mirage Dice, the outcome felt strangely mild.

”Only three points above equilibrium...” Ace muttered thoughtfully. ”So, the effect is relatively minor? Is my luck that bad?”

At this moment, curiosity surfaced within his eyes again, and without hesitation, Ace grabbed the die from the air and immediately cast it once more.

’Clack!’

The dice rolled across the dark crystalline floor. However, nothing happened as no mirage distortions spread or ancient whispers emerged, and the numbers engraved on the surface remained completely still.

It now looked no different from an ordinary black dice, making Ace instantly frown.

But at that moment, the system interface appeared again.

Ace stared at the completely inactive die in silence before suddenly chuckling ruefully.

”So, it really only works once every twenty-four hours...”

He picked up the strangely silent Abyssal Mirage Dice again and looked deeply at the glowing ancient number 53 still faintly lingering upon its surface before it slowly disappeared back into darkness.

’Well, as long as I don’t get the misfortune, I’m fine with this outcome. As for using the active ability, let’s observe more for the time being.’

Despite the calm outcome, Ace’s instincts told him one thing clearly. This treasure was far more terrifying than it appeared, and he stowed it away back into the thief’s space.

But right at that moment, Ace sensed something and looked below at the center of the formation where he was sitting. The formation was suddenly flickering wildly, making him pull a wry smile as if he knew the reason behind it.

The next moment, Ace vanished and appeared in a wide chamber below the formations in the shop, which seemed newly made.

Furthermore, unlike the outer side, which was filled with concealment, defensive, and attacking formations, the chamber was packed with Qi-gathering formations.

The moment Ace appeared here, his eyes locked on the tall, devastatingly voluptuous figure sitting at the center of this Qi-gathering formation, and the woman was naturally Zaria.

Ever since making a name for herself in the Black Hermit City, along with Ace’s avatar, they made their way into Frostgrave City and bought this small shop as a front for Zaria’s cultivation chamber.

Once everything was set, Zaria consumed the Foundation Reset Ascension Elixir from her house shop and started re-cultivating from the beginning using the exclusive cultivation technique of Lucky Thief, the Scripture of Archaic Luck.

When Zaria started cultivating the Scripture of Archaic Luck, it was like a tiger given wings, because her cultivation speed was faster than anything Ace had ever seen, and her status as an Ascension Lord also played a part.

Moreover, with the system’s cultivation technique, Zaria was finally able to cultivate through the Abyssal Qi as well, and the suppression on her vanished without a trace, and now she is thriving.

Furthermore, compared to before cultivating the Scripture of Archaic Luck, her current appearance had undergone astonishing changes, as her once fierce and menacing aura had become profoundly mysterious.

It was still dangerous and oppressive, but now, it was completely hidden beneath that indescribable sense of uncertainty.

Others would no longer merely fear her; they would subconsciously feel wary of offending her, as though provoking this woman might invite inexplicable calamity upon themselves.

Her black hair, once merely short and neat, was now long, with faint, dark-golden strands hidden beneath the silky darkness. Under light, those strands shimmered subtly like flowing liquid luck.

Her charming fair face had become even more exquisite after cultivating the Scripture of Archaic Luck. Her skin appeared flawless like polished jade, while her amber eyes had changed the most, with countless faint golden runic patterns occasionally flickering deep within her pupils before vanishing instantly.

Those eyes seemed capable of seeing invisible threads of fortune and misfortune hidden within the world.

Anyone meeting her gaze for too long would feel strangely uneasy, as though all their secrets, opportunities, and impending disasters had unknowingly been seen through.

Even Ace felt slightly oppressive as she was looking at that moment as if she had already predicted his arrival.

Most eye-catching of all was her attire, for she was adorned in the complete Lucky Thief Kit. The outfit perfectly merged elegance, danger, and mysterious fortune into one harmonious whole.

A long black coat seemingly woven from abyssal t silk draped over her shoulders, its inner lining embroidered with dark-golden ancient runes resembling shifting fortune diagrams.

The long dark windbreaker with a long hood hugged her voluptuous figure perfectly before splitting near her thighs, revealing long fair legs wrapped in fitted black spirit-fabric stockings engraved with faint luck inscriptions.

Around her slender waist rested a dark-golden belt, with a pair of fingerless black gloves covering her hands, and around her neck hung a small obsidian pendant shaped like a crooked, smiling mask, occasionally releasing faint mirage-like distortions.

The surrounding space subtly distorted around her, making her figure seem slightly unreal and difficult to focus on directly.

Combined with her naturally mature and overwhelmingly seductive figure, the current Zaria no longer resembled merely a dangerous thief, for she looked like a calamity born from fortune itself.

At this moment, her lips curved naturally into a faint, dangerous smile when she saw Ace. Suddenly, an exquisite golden tobacco pipe with thin streams of smoke drifting upward appeared in her slender fingers.

She inhaled a puff of smoke, making the dragon engravings upon it faintly move like living creatures beneath the surface while tiny golden sparks flickered in the dragon’s eyes.

As if greatly enjoying herself, she stated, ”Well, you came here just in time. Although I don’t know what you did, you just helped me break through the last hurdle between the Elemental State and Law State of the Scripture of Archaic Luck. Now, you have come with your real body just when this Unlucky boss needs your assistance. Well, I guess I’m just that Lucy!”

Ace was speechless, hearing her tone, but he could only smile wryly since he knew Zaria’s crass character and didn’t find it strange that she could tell he wasn’t the Avatar of Holy Twilight.

But he was quite astounded when he heard he had helped Zaria unknowingly, and something instantly came to his mind, ’It was the Abyssal Mirage Dice!’
