Chapter 1589: The Corpse Clan (3)

Once the Corpse Clan accepted the Evernight Council’s conditions, the latter remained true to their word and retired from the Undead Cradle, bringing the calamity of the Corpse Clan to an end.

However, the hatred the Corpse Clan holds for the Evernight Council never diminished; in fact, as time passed, it continued to foster, especially because the Evernight Council’s members who came in the Undead Cradle treated the Corpse Clan members like living targets and even bragged.

Furthermore, with the condition of not ’killing’ the Evernight Council’s members imposed on the Corpse Clan, they can only grit their teeth and endure.

The Corpse Clan soon realized that the ’peace treaty’ signed with the Evernight Council was just a pretext to turn them into whetstones to nurture their own talents, and teach them how to confront the enemies of the Undead Race!

However, no matter how unwilling or resentful they were, they couldn’t resist the Evernight Council, even if they could somehow manage to give birth to an Abyssal King, for the council had three of them!

As the Corpse Clan were living in misery and racking their undead brains to figure out a way to break free from the Evernight Council, something unexpectedly strange happened a few days ago.

The Evernight Council sent one of their envoys and issued an astounding edict!

According to the edict, in a few days, the Evernight Council will be holding their biggest Evernight Trial, and the trial ground will be none other than the Undead Cradle.

If it were just that the Corpse Clan would’ve gone mad with fury, but when they heard the next part, the Corpse Clan instantly turned joyous.

It turned out, in this Evernight Trial, the Corpse Clan was free to kill any participant, whether the Hunter or the Hunt, if they had the capabilities, with the only exception being the participants with ’Full-Moon Hunter Rings’!

Moreover, the Corpse Clan was only allowed to send Corpse Cultivators up to the peak of the Abyssal Guardian Realm.

Lastly, any spoils from the participants will belong to the Corpse Clan, including their Corpses.

The higher-ups of the Corpse Clan almost thought the Evernight Council was trying to trick them, but in all these years working for the Council, they knew it didn’t need to play such underhanded tricks to torment them.

The moment the edict was announced, the entire Corpse Clan came alive as if a great festival was about to start.

Although the limit of cultivation realm only allowed Abyssal Guardian Realm Corpse Cultivators to participate in the Hunter’s Hunt, it was enough for the Corpse Clan to let off some pent-up frustration and hatred they held for the Evernight Council for hundreds of years.

Without any exception, almost all the eligible Corpse Clan members jumped at the chance to participate.

But the Corpse Clan wasn’t blinded by hatred as they knew the talents of the outside world weren’t to be trifled with, especially after battling them occasionally, and if they weren’t careful, they might become hunts themselves.

That’s why the Corpse Clan arranged everyone to form groups of five or four, depending on the cultivator realms, and form hunting squads.

Moreover, this was an extremely rare opportunity for the Corpse Clan to collect corpses of the Abyssal Beings from the outside world, and then maybe they might be able to figure out a way break free from the control of this nightmarish Evernight Council.

That’s why right now, the ’Corpse Squads’ were leaving to participate in the Hunter’s Hunt in droves, leaving the safety of the Undead Boundary just in the hope of earning glory for their Corpse Clan and lessening some hatred in their heart.

When Ace learned all of this, he couldn’t help but inhale deeply, a hint of disbelief in his voice, because the information was simply too astounding.

’It turned out, this Corpse Race, which walked the path of the Undead Soul, is so miserable just because they were unlucky enough to be discovered by the Evernight Council. Or did they really mess up and end up calling the wolves in their own home?’

Ace couldn’t help but sigh, knowing the fate of the weak in the world of cultivation was always dominated by the strong.

However, he feels no sympathy for the Corpse Clan because if the situation were to reverse, they probably would’ve done even worse because the path they walk was anything but righteous.

He also learned about the general direction of the Cultivation Techniques that belong to the Undead Race. These techniques do not actually require cultivators to sacrifice countless living beings just to turn their living souls into Undead Souls, but they also must sacrifice their humanity!

Moreover, inherently, once someone walked the path of Undead, they developed ruthless instincts, bloodlust for living beings, and the will to sacrifice or go to any length to become stronger and live forever.

Although most of the cultivators also cultivate for an endless lifespan, they won’t abandon their very nature, race, and minds to turn into ruthless creatures.

Only those with a twisted mindset or someone who had truly reached an impasse in life would take such a step and turn themselves into monsters.

But Ace wasn’t going to judge the Corpse Cultivators either, since for him all that mattered was whether they could be easily targeted.

Ace’s eyes flickered with a peculiar glimmer. ’If not for the Undead Boundary, the entire Corpse Clan should’ve been whipped out like the Ghost Race. After all, the Ghost Race had Ghost King back then, but the Corpse Race didn’t have Corpse King ever since they existed.

’But the Ghost Race also didn’t have the Undead Boundary, which helped them preserve their lineage and even forced the Evernight Council to take a step back.

’Just who could’ve made this Undead Boundary that can easily endure collective attacks of three Evernight Kings, and from where this Corpse Clan really came from?

’Moreover, this secret realm is an ancient battle, but whose battle? And what is only the Corpse Race present here? Furthermore, the Undead Boundary isn’t just made for the Corpse Race but the entire Undead Race...’

Ace was extremely curious about this mysterious place when, at this moment, his eyes shone with a hint of confusion, and a sudden realization struck him, ’How did I manage to get inside the Undead Boundary?!’
