Eternal Thief

Chapter 1559: The Evernight Gate Manifested!

The two Eternal Moons hung in the Eternal Night like solemn watchmen while their soft crimson glow draped the Abyssal Plains in a smooth, eerie radiance that was neither light nor shadow, but something in-between—a glow that never wavered since the birth of the Abyss itself.

From the highest sky to the deepest ravines, the Abyss breathed in tranquil darkness like always.

It was a night like every other until, without warning, the moons flickered just once. But just this single tremor of crimson light made the plains rumble, and many hidden existences rose from slumber.

Thereafter, the tranquility was shattered as a ripple tore across the sky, a wound opening in the fabric of reality, and the air vibrated as the darkness twisted.

The abyssal winds screeched as if fleeing from something far beyond comprehension, and then the entire sky began to bleed with light!

A spectral luminance neither star nor flame, but a devouring brilliance that swallowed even the moons’ glow, and the next moment, it was as if the Abyss itself held its breath.

”What is that?”

”An omen? A calamity?”

”No... this aura...it’s profoundly ancient...!”

Across the Abyssal Plains, all beings, from newborn Abyssal Soldiers to Abyssal Grand Lords, felt something tug at their souls, something sacred, yet forbidden, and something that should not be here.

At that moment, the bleeding light coalesced, then swirled, and finally condensed. The sky tore wider, and the phenomenon became translucent, as if the heavens were peeling away like brittle parchment.

Thereafter, slowly, terrifyingly, and majestically, an enormous Gate emerged from the rift. A structure so colossal that even mountains looked like pebbles before it.

Its surface was forged from an obsidian so deep it reflected nothing, yet swallowed everything. Across the colossal slabs were carved ancient inscriptions, written in a script so archaic that current Abyssal Beings couldn’t recognize any of them.

Beside the inscriptions, the images of abyssal beasts, unknown to living memory, writhed and shifted as if alive, bound to the gate like imprisoned kings of a forgotten race.

At that moment, the images’ crimson eyes seemed to have opened, and their jaws stirred before their bodies heaved as though trying to break free, and those who gazed upon them felt their blood freeze.

The sky trembled as the gate continued to manifest, until its complete monumental form stood suspended in the heavens, overlooking all life below like an executioner’s blade ready to fall.

Gasps and horrified admiration echoed throughout the Abyssal Plains.

Finally, someone spoke while gazing upon that phenomenon as his voice cracked with age and terror, ”The... Entrance of the Evernight Sanctuary!”

The words sent a shockwave of dread and astonishment, even as Abyssal Lords felt their hearts pound with awe and a touch of fear.

”Impossible... impossible!” Somewhere else, another voice followed, this one shrouded in shadow, ancient and powerful, a Half-Abyssal King who had been in seclusion for millennia!

His voice trembled, ”It is not the thousand-year cycle... yet the Gate has appeared! Why?!”

It wasn’t just this hidden existence as the entire Abyssal Plains erupted.

”What’s going on?”

”The cycle is broken!”

”Did someone force it open?!”

”Who violated the laws of Evernight?!”

”Has the Council made a move?!”

”It must be the omen—something catastrophic happened!”

Panic washed across the continents like a black tide, yet amid this panic, some saw it as an opportunity.

Especially those from the younger generations, those born within the last millennium, stared blankly at the monumental gate as if it were the birth of some peerless treasure.

”The Evernight... what...?”

”What is that gate?”

”Why is everyone behaving like that?”

”Is it dangerous?!”

”Shouldn’t we prepare to capture the treasure?!”

They looked to their elders for answers, and the elders’ solemn expressions confirmed only one thing: that this was no ordinary event, but this was history!

Among the old experts, a different kind of shock spread because they knew what this gate’s appearance meant. The Evernight Sanctuary’s entrance was not merely symbolic or ceremonial.

It was a phenomenon of laws, a manifestation of abyssal truth itself. The gate was a structure woven from Abyssal Laws, Fallen Abyssal King Runes, and Ancient Script, and there was even a rumor that it was part of the Evernight Council Founder’s legacy!

Furthermore, whenever the gate of the Evernight Sanctuary was about to open, experts from all over the Abyssal Plains would prepare with their juniors because profound benefits were guaranteed!

This was why, every time the Gate emerged, beings across the Abyss, even those who would never enter, gathered to observe, kneel, meditate, or pray.

Because in its presence, the bottleneck could loosen, or some could experience abrupt breakthroughs, and even the faintest spark of comprehension could transform into a breakthrough in laws. Some are even rumored to have strengthened their bloodlines and even evolved.

It was an opportunity that appeared once in a thousand years, and every power,

from Tier-1 Abyssal Being (Qi Gates Realm) to Abyssal Kings, would immediately stop everything to witness it.

However, today, the Gate was here early, and the Abyssal Plains quaked as something unprecedented unfolded, making others feel that something terrifying would reshape the abyss forever!

On the other hand, the Obsidian Myriad Kingdom, which was usually a bastion of unshakable order under the Dread Duchess’s rule and Evernight Council’s shadow, was anything but calm.

The entire capital roared like a disturbed hive as cultivators halted mid-cultivation, merchants abandoned their stalls, and hidden experts emerged instinctively from their seclusions.

Above it all, the colossal Gate suspended in the skies cast its devouring glow across the kingdom, turning the entire city into a landscape drenched in crimson and obsidian light.

Everyone was in disbelief, especially those Evernight Nobles, because the kingdom was one of the most extensive Evernight Council’s territory, like a direct branch or a core subsidiary, not to mention a land governed by a member of the Council’s King Circle.

Yet even here, countless nobles were staring at the sky in utter shock as they had no idea, nor were they informed, about the opening of the Gate.

”Impossible... why weren’t we notified?!”

”This cannot be right—the Sanctuary’s cycle is fixed!”

”We didn’t receive any summons! This is outrageous!”

”Has something gone wrong with the Council?!”

Whispers, confusion, and rising panic surged through every corner of the capital.

Many Evernight nobles, especially the lower houses, looked like their entire worldview had collapsed.

But amid the frantic voices, there were a few who stood silent, watching and waiting.

A few Evernight Marquises, figures so powerful their mere presence distorted the air, stood at high vantage points around the capital, and they were calm, in fact, too calm as if they had expected this.

Their expressions carried no surprise, but only a cold calculation, and that alone was enough to terrify the surrounding nobles. But they weren’t the only ones who knew.

Far above the capital’s central district, atop the Duskmire Vault, the highest structure in the entire kingdom, a lone figure stood with her hands folded behind her back.

Her violet robes fluttered in the unnatural winds as a regal aura flooded the entire rooftop like an invisible sea of dread. It was the Dread Duchess, cold, majestic, and immovable!

The tower beneath her, her personal business empire, and the tallest building in the capital, was the only place where one could clearly witness the full manifestation of the Evernight Sanctuary Gate.

Behind her, two silent figures stood like shadows given form, and they both were looking at the scene with astonishment, like any other Abyssal Beings in the Abyssal Plains.

They were Ace and Eva!
