Eternal Thief

Chapter 1574: Start of Evernight Trial! (9)

The Protector Envoy’s words were neither loud nor soft, but everyone present at the scene heard them, and it was at that moment, other than the Evernight Dukes, Abyssal Beings learned about the name of the ’outsider’ who had changed the entire structure of the Evernight Sanctuary entrance this time!

”If that’s the case, then I’m relieved!” Dread Duchess, ambiguously replied.

She no longer raised any question because this time everything seemed to be arranged by the Evernight Kings, and as long as Nomad got what he was promised, she could still salvage their relationship with the Moonless Wandering King if the latter felt sour about the Evernight Council’s decision!

”Nomad...who is this person?” The Vice City Lord of the Bone Mercenary City muttered as he looked towards the Dread Duchess’s flagship with narrowed eyes because of what the Dread Duchess had just said.

”Which clan or organization did he belong to?” The vice president of the Eden Alchemy Abyss was also astounded, and he looked towards the Dread Duchess’s flagship as none of the old monsters present were fools.

The Mystic Grand Lord Octavia remained silent, but her eyes were also roaming in the same direction as she also picked up the underlying meaning behind the Dread Duchess and Protector Envoy’s conversation about this mysterious ’Nomad’ character.

Everyone was now paying attention to Nomad because he somehow compelled the Evernight Council to change the entire tradition of the Evernight Sanctuary Trails!

”What are you two standing there like idiots!?” At that moment, the icy cold voice filled with jealousy and hatred sounded.

It was naturally the Yin Duchess who, at some point, seemed to have been forgotten, and the most hateful fact about all of this was that the spotlight had been snatched by her most hated enemy, Dread Duchess, even when the latter wasn’t trying!

Furthermore, for some reason, Yin Duchess or any Evernight Duke, as a matter of fact, hasn’t made any comment or tried to communicate with Nomad all this time, as if they were avoiding it for some reason, and Dread Duchess has already noticed this peculiarity.

Only the Enchantress Demon Duchess has tried to play her usual tricks, but she seemed restrained and didn’t do anything excessive.

Xue Yin and Xue Han, who were silently listening without daring to breathe loudly, shuddered when they heard Yin Duchess’s murderous voice and felt the Yin Duchess’s gaze stabbing into their spines, sharp and merciless.

Without hesitation, they both take out their Evernight Badges, which were proof of their identities as members of the Evernight Council, not to mention they were Evernight Viscounts!

”We are representing our esteemed master, Yin Duchess of King Circle of Evernight Council!” They both declared loudly as if trying to appease their master’s temper, but to no avail.

”You may proceed while keeping your identity badges in your hands!” The Protector Envoy curtly stated.

Dread Duchess or any other expert didn’t obstruct those juniors as they silently watched everything play out.

Under the spotlight, Xue Yin and Xue gulped before gritting their teeth and stepping forward.

Sensing their presence, the Evernight Gate reacted, its bleeding light pulsing once, slow and deliberate, before crimson runes sprang across its surface, spiraling outward like an eye opening.

The space before the Gate rippled, and then the space seemed to have parted without any resistance or rejection.

Xue Yin and Xue Han passed through one by one, swallowed by the crimson glow as the Gate accepted them. The light dimmed afterward, returning to its steady, watchful pulse, as if satisfied.

”They passed!” The Protector Envoy declared.

A collective breath was released among those who had been watching from afar or belonged to lower-grade clans across the Abyssal Plains because this meant that, as long as they met the conditions, they could enter without any worry.

From not far away, Ace watched silently as his eyes narrowed subtly.

”So... the Gate judges instantly,” he communicates with Eva, ”no trial yet. Just... eligibility. I wonder what would happen when someone who hadn’t met the conditions tries to enter, or if someone uses some tricks, would the gate be able to detect it?’

Beside him, Eva smiled faintly as she replied, ”I guess we won’t be able to find out since we met all the requirements. Even by their standards, we are monsters for having this kind of cultivation at our age.”

Ace didn’t reply, but he entirely agreed with Eva’s comment because they all have the system behind them, and that’s why they didn’t need to play any tricks to pass this first barrier.

At that moment, the Dread Duchess looked back at them and said, ”You may also proceed, and I will see you on the other side. And you, my dear disciple,” she suddenly looked directly into Eva’s eyes as if smiling with anticipation, ”don’t disappoint me, or I’ll hold you accountable!”

”Heh~, prepare the rewards, master, or I won’t speak with you later!” Eva acted like a spoiled girl as she didn’t show any hint of nervousness, making the Dread Duchess more assured.

Dread Duchess snickered, ”As long as your performance is satisfactory, rewards aren’t out of the question.”

She then glanced at Ace meaningfully and secretly sent a spirit transmission, ”I know things hadn’t gone as you expected them to be. But I can assure you that I will get to the bottom of it and give you an explanation. Besides, I know you will succeed, and I hope you can look after my disciple!”

Ace was surprised when he heard the gentle tone of Dread Duchess, as he wasn’t used to the usually overbearing Dread Duchess speaking like a mellow woman, and he could also feel her concern for Eva, giving him a slightly better opinion of Dread Duchess.

He subtly nodded, knowing inwardly that if anyone needed protection, it should be those scions of the Evernight Council, which also included the geniuses of the entire Abyssal Plains, from Eva!

”We’ll be going now, master!” Eva couldn’t wait any longer because she was secretly looking forward to her adventure with Ace and flew towards the Evernight Gate!

Ace didn’t dare tarry and bid farewell to Dread Duchess as well before he followed behind Eva under everyone’s scrutiny!
