The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 2183: Cain’s foster father

The hard work and determination of Klaus Goldsoul had paid off. Through relentless dedication and years of service, he had become one of the most respected instructors within the military ranks of the Scarlet Kingdom. Tens of thousands of young warriors looked up to him with admiration and awe, seeking his guidance as he led them through hardship, training, and battle.

To those youths, Klaus was not merely a teacher—he was a living symbol of perseverance. His sharp discipline and quiet compassion honed their strength and shaped their character. By helping to raise the next generation, he felt he was honoring his father, the late Golden Emperor, and restoring dignity to the once-proud Goldsoul name.

Cain followed Klaus in silence for two days, unseen and unnoticed. He watched as the man moved through the training fields, his commands precise, his aura calm but powerful.

The way Klaus guided others to grow—proving his worth through the success of those around him rather than through personal ambition—spoke volumes about his character. Cain felt a quiet satisfaction. This was true growth.

Though he did not approach him directly, Cain did choose to act in his own subtle way. From afar, he altered Klaus’s genetic code, refining the purity of his ancient bloodline. The enhancement was delicate yet profound; it would slowly improve Klaus, and his descendants would inherit stronger bodies, purer energy, and sharper minds.

When his work was done, Cain prepared to leave the military stronghold. But before he could depart, his senses stirred. Another familiar presence brushed against his awareness.

”So,” Cain murmured with a faint smile. ”He’s here too. Two birds with one stone.”

With a single step, space folded around him. Cain appeared within a grand chamber lined with crimson banners and heavy war tables. There stood Magnus Hellblazer, Levi’s half-brother, commanding his troops with sharp precision.

When Cain and Magnus first met long ago, their relationship had been tense. They had stood on opposite sides of a conflict, and the rivalry between the Hellblazer family and Levi had bred mutual hostility. But all that changed after Cain’s ascension as the Scarlet King.

When Cain led his legions to the Hellblazer Dukedom, it had been to aid Levi in his vengeance. They were prepared to annihilate the entire Hellblazer line if necessary. Yet Magnus, pragmatic and proud, had been the one to deliver his own father to Levi’s judgment.

It might have seemed cruel—a son betraying his father—but Cain understood. Levi’s father had been a man of corruption and cruelty, someone Magnus never really saw as a father.

After that day, the Hellblazer family pledged themselves to the Scarlet Kingdom. For a time, they served under Minxet, one of the Six Chief Councilors, playing an influential role in the Scarlet administration. But when the Scarlet Kingdom transitioned into the Everstrife Empyrean World, the structure of power shifted.

The Hellblazers lost their position—none of them yet possessed the strength of a Prima Deity, a requirement for the ruling tier.

Instead of despairing, Magnus adapted. Under his leadership, the Hellblazers devoted themselves entirely to the military branch of the Kingdom. Every member trained, fought, and bled to prove their worth anew. Within decades, the family had become a formidable martial lineage once more—boasting dozens of Divine Transcendence Masters, each bearing a Scarlet Leviathan within their Soul Dimension.

Magnus himself had made tremendous progress. His aura burned like a star, his power nearing the threshold of the Prima Deity Rank. Yet what Cain found most fascinating was Magnus’s mindset.

Unlike Klaus, who sought to uplift others as an act of redemption and honor, Magnus’s motivation was pragmatic. He strengthened those around him not purely out of selflessness, but because their growth elevated his own.

Cain smiled faintly. A different path, but not a wrong one. In another life, it might have been the same path he would have taken.

Hidden in the shadows, Cain observed for a while longer. When satisfied, he extended his will once again, subtly refining the potential within Magnus’s bloodline. It was a silent gift—one Magnus would never know came from him.

Moments later, Cain rose into the sky, leaving behind a streak of crimson light.

His next destination lay far from the stronghold—a wide, serene river surrounded by towering cliffs. Massive beasts moved through the waters below, their scales glinting beneath the sunlight. Each one was large enough to swallow mountains whole.

And yet, in the midst of that majestic danger, a small wooden boat drifted peacefully. A lone man sat within it, fishing.

Cain’s lips curved into a rare, genuine smile. Without hesitation, he descended and landed softly in the boat.

The man turned his head, a warm smile spreading across his weathered face. ”How are you, son?”

”I’m well, stepfather,” Cain replied, clasping his hands respectfully.

The man was Kabuto Solis, one of the Thirteen Doomsday Stars, now a Prima Deity of the Scarlet Kingdom—and Cain’s foster father.

”I didn’t know you enjoyed fishing,” Cain said lightly, watching the still surface of the river.

Kabuto chuckled softly, the sound deep and calm. ”I didn’t. In truth, I used to hate it. But after a lifetime of war, I’ve come to appreciate the peace it brings.”

Cain nodded and sat beside him, picking up another fishing rod. The two men sat in silence for hours. There was no need for conversation or memories; their bond was deeper than words. The gentle rhythm of the river, the hum of life around them, and the faint shimmer of spiritual beasts beneath the surface created a peace neither had felt in ages.

On the sixth day, as dawn spread gold across the horizon, Cain finally spoke. ”Soon, a new battle might arise. What do you think?”

Kabuto smiled faintly as he cast his line. ”We are cultivators, Cain. Conflict is our nature—the engine that drives us forward. If the cause is just, then battle is not destruction, but renewal.”

He paused as his line tightened. A small fish broke through the surface, wriggling in the air. Kabuto gently released it back into the water.

”And when it’s over,” he said quietly, ”moments like this will feel even more precious.”

Cain watched the ripples fade into stillness and smiled. The peace, the wisdom, the strength—it all resonated within him.
