Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Just So Stubborn and Suffering

After the serious matters were discussed, Xia Dongxue thought of her niece who had gone to the countryside. ”I’ve got quite a bit of wool yarn. Take some back with you to knit a sweater and trousers for Wenhui, then send them to her.”

”You keep it for Wen Yue. When she left, I gave her a set of cotton clothes. In a few days, I’ll gather some more cotton and make her another set to send so she can alternate.”

”Take some of the wool yarn. I specifically bought her share. I also happen to have a few cotton coupons, so take them all.”

Shi Jingfang was about to refuse, but then heard Xia Dongxue say, ”It gets cold early in the Northeast. It’s better to make them and send them off early for peace of mind.”

A child is a mother’s soft spot. Since Xia Dongxue had put it that way, Shi Jingfang no longer refused. ”Then thank you, Eldest Sister-in-law.”

”No need to be so polite with me.”

”Is Wen Yue getting used to the cultural troupe now?”

”She’s doing very well. She called the day before yesterday, said she was missing home-cooked food.”

”That’s easy. Wenhui isn’t too far from her. One of these days, I’ll have him bring some over so she can satisfy her cravings.”

The two sisters-in-law chatted and laughed for a while. They arranged to go to the hospital together early the next morning, after which Shi Jingfang left with the wool yarn and cotton coupons.

By the time Elder Master Ye returned home, the sky had already darkened.

Seeing him back, Xia Dongxue hurriedly took the fishing rod from his hands. ”Dad, you should come back earlier from now on. We worry when it’s too late.”

Elder Master Ye set the bucket he was carrying on the ground. ”I wanted to come back earlier, but how could I bear to come home without catching a single fish?”

Xia Dongxue burst out laughing at his words. Elder Master Ye was simply too amusing. He’d taken up fishing in the last six months or so, and eight out of ten times he returned empty-handed. It had become quite the topic of conversation in the compound.

That’s why whenever Elder Master Ye went fishing, if he didn’t catch anything, he wouldn’t return until dark. He was just that stubborn about saving face, even if it made him miserable.

At the dinner table, Xia Dongxue served Elder Master Ye a bowl of soup. ”Dad, Second Sister-in-law came over and mentioned that Third Sister-in-law’s father is sick. He’s now in a hospital in Beijing, and we were thinking of visiting him tomorrow.

Your Second Brother isn’t well and can’t travel far. Would you be willing to go in his place?”

Thinking of his younger brother’s health, Elder Master Ye agreed it wasn’t suitable for him to go. ”Alright, you’re right. I’ll go on his behalf.

By the way, why is Baoxiang’s father hospitalized?”

Xia Dongxue shook her head. ”Second Sister-in-law only heard about it from an acquaintance. We don’t know the exact situation, only that he needs surgery.”

Hearing that surgery was needed, Elder Master Ye’s face filled with concern. ”Then I’ll call Bingkun later to ask about the situation.”

But when the call was made, it turned out that Ye Bingkun wasn’t in Beijing. He had gone on a business trip a few days earlier.

At nightfall, just as Yunyi finished securing the doors and windows and was preparing to enter the space, she heard some noises coming from the neighboring courtyard.

However, the noise quickly subsided.

Only then did she enter the space.

After checking on the growth of the three ginseng plants, Yunyi concluded that although the space lacked large tracts of land, the crevices between the stones were indeed suitable for the growth of various plants.

Looking at the space, now lush and green, her face was full of satisfaction.

It was her usual routine: first, practice martial arts, then take a bath. Of course, she hadn’t neglected the Taekwondo and military boxing she’d learned in her previous life.

After soaking in the hot spring, the day’s fatigue completely dissipated. Sipping a pot of tea brewed with Spatial Well Water was then exceptionally pleasant.

However, the tea leaves she’d brought from Beijing weren’t plentiful. To achieve tea self-sufficiency, she needed to find a way to plant some tea trees in the space.

While she was enjoying her leisure, things at the Zhiqing Point were not nearly as peaceful for the educated youth.
