Chapter 491: Snegnar, The ’Happy Chef’. Part-1.

Human Empire ’Astrum,’ a small town near the border.

In a small two-story house.

Three individuals were sitting at the dining table, and a happy look was clearly visible on their faces.

”This cake is for my little princess who has succeeded in passing the entrance test! My little princess will be going to the Great Freya Academy in the future!”

”Your mother and I are very proud of you... we hope that you will achieve great things in life...”

The middle-aged couple sitting side by side were congratulating their daughter for awakening extremely high talent and getting admission to the Great Freya Academy.

The young girl was smiling ear to ear, as she was extremely happy today.

Her parents were ordinary people, and she has seen them struggle for years just to raise her.

The nation has advanced to the age of interstellar exploration, but differences in classes still exist.

People with the talent to become awakeners earn tremendous wealth and make the real top class of the social ladder.

Ordinary people can only hope to ascend higher in this ladder by having more money, but not everyone can just reach those standards.

The young girl’s parents were just ordinary people, and they were doing their best to raise her despite not having much talent or skills.

In this age where AI does most of the jobs, the nation has adopted the basic national income policy, where every citizen is given a set amount of money based on the nation’s GDP that year.

Which means every legal citizen of this nation will have money even if they don’t work or do anything at all.

But that money alone won’t fulfill all your needs; you will still need to work if you want to earn more.

To prevent people from getting lazy and stopping work, causing them to overly depend on the basic income policy, the government has devised a lot of methods.

They have created job opportunities that only actual citizens can have, and AI is not used in those jobs.

Moreover, even the schools teach more about jobs and things that a human can do on their own without the need of AI.

This policy has greatly helped people find jobs and work.

If people just rely on AI to earn and stay at home, the nation will face a massive crisis where all people will be just walking corpses with no purpose to live for and no goals to strive for.

AI can indeed do most of the work for humans, but relying on it too much can cause damage to the entire race, and most people actually do prefer staying home and doing nothing.

They just survive on the basic income policy and spend their life rotting in the same place.

The government is also very stressed over this problem.

...

The young girl’s parents were also just ordinary people; they had no talent for being an awakener, and even in terms of money-earning capabilities, they were just ordinary.

They barely ever had a stable job, and usually the family was only surviving on the basic income provided by the nation.

Most households nowadays are in a similar situation, and most people don’t even think this is a bad thing at all either.

But the young girl was different.

She didn’t want to spend her entire life rotting like this; she wanted to achieve better things in life, and she wanted to go to a wider world and make a name for herself.

Just like her idol, the ’Rising Dark Star.’

Even the celebration cake was in the design of a black sword, which was the symbol of the ’Hero of Dawn.’

”Our little Sara, she’s grown up to be such a cute girl...”

Sara’s mother was a frail woman; she was always sickly due to her naturally weak complexion, and after giving birth to Sara, she barely survived due to sheer luck.

Despite her parents being poor, Sara loved them both and respected them from the bottom of her heart because they had always loved her a lot.

They tried to fulfill all of her unreasonable demands since childhood and never scolded her even once for her mischief.

Instead, they taught her how to be an honest, good-natured, and mentally strong person.

Sara has grown up in a happy family and has lived a life that many can only dream of.

Just a month ago, she became an awakener and awakened the talent to be a powerful A-rank mage in the future.

She easily cleared the entrance test for the Great Freya Academy and secured herself a path to a brighter future.

Not only will she be able to achieve her dream of reaching a wider world, but she will also get enough wealth to help her parents too.

’And perhaps one day, I might even be able to meet my idol too, hehe...’

Sara’s obsession over the ’Hero of Dawn’ began when she first saw him on TV when he was fighting with Link Rex in the SSA Event.

Link was already famous all over the nation at that time, and being the only son of Ashtel Rex, the strongest human in the world, he was always in the spotlight.

But that limelight was then taken by the sudden entry of a new player who was later given the nickname ’Dark Star.’

He single-handedly fought many of his peers to a standstill and nearly even won.

That heroic image caused Sara to consider him as her idol.

She herself wanted to achieve greatness, and she wanted to follow in his path.

Sara became a loyal fan from that day onwards, and her obsession only increased with time as her idol kept achieving great things one after another.

After becoming an awakener, her ambition increased, and she knew that her opportunity had come.

”Thank you, mom, dad... I will make you even more proud in the future!”

Sara giggled happily as she blew out the candle on her cake with a happy look on her face.

*Clap* *Clap*

Her parents clapped for her and congratulated her, but Sara suddenly felt that something was wrong.

There were only three of them here, but there was a fourth sound of clapping present.

Before she could understand anything, an unknown person appeared in the sight of the three.

The man was very tall, and his face was covered in horrible scars, and he had a very creepy look on his intimidating face.

His clothes were smeared in dried blood, and he was giving off a very nauseating smell from all over his body.

”Why did you stop clapping? Keep going, guys? Don’t miiind me~”

His voice was extremely eerie and caused extreme discomfort to those who heard it.

Sara felt a chill run down her spine the moment she laid her eyes on that creepy man; she had seen that face on the TV once.

She had seen his photo appear among the horrible criminals who were wreaking havoc in the country these days.

Before she could understand anything, her father instinctively stood up from his seat to protect his family and confronted the man.

”Who are you!? What are you doing in my home!!?”

The creepy man smiled sinisterly at those questions and gave an answer that caused Sara to feel even more chills.

”Ah, don’t mind me, everyone; I am just on a trip to find some delicious foooood~”

”KEKEKEKEKE.... And look what I found today, an innocent little family celebrating for a bright future!”

”You know what... I like destroying people’s happiness the most... I like destroying those with brighter future the moooosssstttt~ hehehe...”

Before Sara could even react, the creepy man moved his arm, and web-like threads spread everywhere in the small house as if they were alive and had a mind of their own.

”kekeke... I like feasting on others’ happiness...”
