Chapter 467: Gains and Loses.

As Kevin’s figure disappeared, a new set of memories and information entered Rio’s mind.

It was a final gift from Kevin to Rio.

[Ding! You have learned ’Sky Splitter Sword Art’!

[Ding! You have learned various assassination techniques!]

[Ding! You have gained a new skill ’Absolute Stealth!]

[Ding! You have gained a new passive skill, ’Lethal strike’!]

Rio was pleasantly surprised at that moment.

’I see, so you wanted to pass on your skills to me...’

Aside from telling Rio the words that he always wanted to say, Kevin wanted to pass on the skills that he had learned in his life to his son.

He wanted Rio to have more possibilities with these new skills and powers.

Although Rio already has enough ways to make his way in the human empire in the future, Kevin has given him a new one.

He just has to hone his assassination techniques and ’stealth’ skill from now on, and he can become an assassin as feared as Kevin was.

’Lethal Strike,’ on the other hand, gives a boost to the first strike, which is also a skill important for an assassin.

He can use this skill to kill someone in just one shot and leave right after.

’No wonder he was feared as the legendary assassin; these skills and techniques are all top notch...’

The biggest gain was the ’Sky Splitter Sword art.’

This sword is highly focused on defense, ignoring high-damage strikes; moreover, this technique is a skill that will boost the power of his ’Soul-splitting’ sword skill if used together.

Now Rio has three sword techniques, with each focusing on a different aspect; they make up for all of his weaknesses.

’Elemental sword art’ allows him to use any element or phenomenon that he can think of.

It’s extremely versatile and provides him freedom to use various combos against his enemies.

This technique is very overpowered, as it allows Rio to change between elements freely; he can just use any element the opponent is weak to, giving him an edge in battles.

’Sword Sage’s Enlightenment’ is the sword art that Rio made for himself by condensing all his knowledge and skill for swordsmanship.

This sword art was created by Rio to be a powerful support skill for his ’Sword Intent,’ ’Imperfect Sword Heart,’ and ’Sword Body.’

This sword art focuses more on the use of these legendary skills and powers that he has and boosts them further.

’Sky Splitter Sword Art’ focuses on quick and high damage; it’s a technique most suitable for assassins who are also swordsmen.

Paired with ’Soul Splitting,’ this sword technique is so lethal that even peak S-rank dragons will be no match for Rio anymore.

And as Soul Splitting can ignore all defenses, this is a move that helps Rio deal effective damage to even SS-rankers if necessary.

Adding ’Absolute Stealth’ and ’Lethal Shot’ to this combo will make it possible to kill even S-rankers in just one shot with ease.

Kevin couldn’t use ’Vinash,’ the soul-splitting sword of destruction, to its full capability, but Rio can, and he can go further, as he has sword intent too.

’Although you weren’t that good a father or a husband, I guess I don’t have anything against you... I will forgive you and use these skills for myself...’

The frozen mountain-like scenery slowly disappeared as Rio came to terms with his new powers and organized all the new memories in his head.

The long battle in the Spire of Ascension took a lot of effort, but Rio was happy that he managed to get something good out of it all.

’It’s almost as if I have successfully completed a main quest in a game and gotten rewards for it... how nice.’

As the frozen mountain disappeared, Rio once again came back to the familiar ’sea of consciousness.’

He found himself sitting near a bonfire in utter darkness and emptiness.

Moreover, even the original Rio was gone now, so he was just sitting here all alone now.

’This place has become even more lonely than before... forget it, let’s just go back; it’s too depressing to stay here...’

As it was his own ’sea of consciousness,’ Rio could easily control it, so he willed himself to ’wake up’ from this place, and he immediately left the ’sea of consciousness.’

...

Human Empire, Capital City Astra.

Silver Mansion, Lia’s Room.

Rio eyes opened slowly, and he found himself sleeping on a soft bed, and a pinkish blanket was lying over him.

He looked towards his left and noticed that Lia was also sleeping beside him and was clinging to his left arm like a koala.

Rio couldn’t help but feel his younger brother stand in sheer excitement after feeling the softness of her body and those two lethal weapons touch his chest.

He glanced towards the nearby window and noticed that it was morning and warm sunlight was falling over his face.

Rio glanced at Lia’s peaceful sleeping face, and a rare gentle smile appeared on his emotionless face.

He raised his finger and poked her soft cheeks mischievously, causing her to frown a little.

’I feel like teasing her all of a sudden...’

He took his mouth near her ear and whispered,

”Oh no, Kai accidentally pushed the juice glass and messed up all the homework!”

”It’s all due tomorrow! The teacher’s going to scold us now!”

Lia immediately woke in shock and sat up straight with a look of confusion.

”Wha-what!? My homework!! Wha... Wait... I had no homework...”

Lia slowly came to her senses and figured out that Rio had played a prank on her as she noticed him giggling to himself in the corner with an amused look on his face.

”You! Sigh... you finally woke up and the first thing you do is tease me...”

Lia shook her head, a helpless look on her face; she had grown accustomed to Rio’s habit of playing such pranks on her.

She punched Rio lightly in the chest to express her complaints and got up from the bed.

Her golden hair shone brightly in the morning sunlight, and her messy clothes made her look even more charming.

”Sigh, I was so worried you know... You slept like a log for a week straight, you know!”

”That sudden explosion really made me worried; thankfully you survived... but I won’t forgive you for making me so worried so easily!”

”You have to make it up to me!”

Rio could only admit defeat at those words and nod his head to acknowledge his mistakes.

He knows that he was injured heavily in that explosion, and it must have been Lia who took care of him after that; he must have made her worry a lot.

So, he had no excuse for his mistakes.

”Okay, we will go on a date! I will arrange everything!”

Rio clenched his fist tightly and declared that he will make up for his mistakes without hesitation.

To maintain a good relationship, both parties must put in equal efforts. Lia took care of him with all her heart, so he must not disappoint her and cherish her just as much.

Rio stretched his arms as he and Lia walked over to the window and basked in the warm sunlight for a while.

”So, we are back in the empire... I don’t even remember much of what happened after the explosion...”

Lia rolled her eyes at those words and spoke in a calm tone,

”Of course you don’t remember; you were heavily injured, and barely made it out of that heavily corrupted lava...”

”You collapsed right after reaching my side... thankfully there were dozens of SS-rankers in the vicinity who had arrived to suppress the explosion...”

”Syvis was among them and she healed you...”

Lia told Rio that after things settled down, Raji took everyone back to the empire.

Ashtel was still in a coma; Link and Riya took him to the Rex Mansion and are taking care of him now.

Raji took Jin back to Anna’s side and told her everything truthfully, as it wasn’t something that she could hide from her.

Anna was heartbroken, but she was not a person with a fragile mind.

Jin took care of her when she was injured; it was her turn to help him now.

Syvis had already healed him to the best of his ability, and all that’s left now is whether he will wake up or not.

His chance of waking up is higher if he stays near Anna, so Raji left him with her.

Raji then went to the Awakener’s association to take care of the mess that had happened in this time.

All news channels were reporting on the ’Chronos incident,’ and an atmosphere of fear was spreading all over the nation.

Raji and other SS-rankers wanted to hide this incident from the ordinary people, but it was impossible to do so, as it was too big of an event to suppress.

The whole world felt the planet tremble and go through disasters; hundreds of thousands of lives were affected, so it was impossible to hide this matter.

Raji was now busy stabilizing the nation and trying to reduce public fear.

As nearly all SS-rankers witnessed the situation, they all knew that Ashtel got heavily injured, and some of them even talked about this matter to their subordinates.

Although humanity has a lot of allies, and many SS-rankers came to help in the ’Chronos Incident,’ they only did so because they had to protect their own people.

They all can’t be considered on favorable terms with humanity even though they helped suppress this incident while putting personal matters aside to take care of the big picture.

Ashtel has always been a thorn in the eyes of many, and the news of him being injured was leaked to the world through many sources.

This news completely shook the entire human empire, and every citizen felt fearful for their future.

Many criminals who used to hide like sewer rats because of the mighty ’Ashtel Rex’ suddenly gained confidence and started creating more chaos.

Raji’s workload increased tremendously.
