Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 185: Chapter 134 The Last Glimmer of Light! The Mutated Wanmu Wolf!

TSK.

Su Ping shook his head involuntarily as he watched the tragic scenes unfolding on the screen. He knew that this was probably the end of the line for the Forest Wolf Troop’s final battle.

With Li Da eliminated, even though Sun Xiao and Er Zhuang were still left, several other opponents remained. And these guys, they were all seeing red. They had to eliminate the entire Forest Wolf Troop.

Even without the Flame Gorilla, Su Ping knew that under the current circumstances, Er Zhuang and Sun Xiao wouldn’t last much longer. The reason was simple. Beyond the physical and mental burden from continuously using the Sunlight Absorption Formula, the most crucial factor was the current situation: dark clouds now obscured the sun.

If the sun were still out, with boundless sunlight available, they might still have a chance. But now, that was clearly gone.

With Er Zhuang’s three Sunlight Absorption Formula skills—Sunlight Absorption, Photosynthesis, and Heart of Woods—all reaching Master Level, the burden he bore was indeed somewhat less than that of the other Wanmu Wolves. But without direct sunlight, it was useless! Even the most skilled artisan can’t work without materials!

Thus, the Flame Gorilla was just the last straw that broke the camel’s back. But that was enough.

Around him, after witnessing the chaotic battle that morning, everyone looked at Su Ping with pure amazement.

Even in this situation, it was clear the Wanmu Wolf had weaknesses. Its vulnerability to fire was particularly obvious, and it lacked direct, high-damage offensive skills, focusing more on crowd control and versatile development. But what other Commander Level Pet Beast, focused on raw power, could achieve such results? Clearly, none! And because there were none, was it reasonable to demand that the Wanmu Wolf also possess even greater offensive power under these circumstances? That was clearly asking too much.

Even Vice President Liu, who was beside him, let out a long breath and said, ”You really gave me a big surprise, kid!”

Indeed, it was a big surprise! A Wanmu Wolf like this, if it participated in the Breeder Contest... it might not be guaranteed to take first place, but it would definitely have a very high chance. Although this wasn’t a low-level evolution that could be easily popularized due to certain breeding costs, compared to those costs, the Wanmu Wolf’s potential was well worth it.

After a pause, Old Liu continued confidently, ”When we get back to the association, I’ll keep my promise and personally apply for your Senior Breeder certificate for specializing in Forest Wolf!”

Old Liu had never, ever imagined this. He never imagined his earlier prediction would come true so quickly.

Su Ping smiled slightly. He wasn’t particularly concerned about these matters but was, instead, quite curious about the Breeder Contest. ”There’s no rush for that, President Liu,” he asked. ”When exactly is this year’s Breeder Association conference held?”

Liu Fuhai replied without even thinking, ”You haven’t paid any attention to it before, have you? It’s held every year after New Year’s Day and before Chinese New Year’s Eve. Usually, it’s all over in one day. After all, the Dragon Nation has over twenty provinces. If each province takes about ten minutes or so to present their achievements, that’s sufficient. There’s no need to fully disclose the findings, just to demonstrate the experimental process, breeding insights, and the final product!”

Su Ping blinked. ”I see. I thought the results and breeding methods had to be completely shared with all viewers to qualify!”

Vice President Liu chuckled. ”You wouldn’t believe it, but the original Breeder Contests indeed aimed for that. However, in doing so, breeders would hoard their secrets, and not many wanted to share publicly! Think about it, who would be willing to give away their hard-researched methods to other breeders for free? Moreover, it was later discovered that this approach wasn’t ideal. It could lead to price crashes for items and Pet Beasts, not to mention potentially causing localized unrest. Ultimately, the drawbacks outweighed the benefits.

Our Dragon Nation does have a patent fee system. However, it’s still difficult to manage such situations perfectly with that alone, so the requirements for sharing aren’t too strict here. As I mentioned, you can choose to submit your breeding method to the association. In return, the association will give you a large number of academic credits all at once! You might even receive rarer, more valuable designated resources. Additionally, any Breeder who obtains your breeding method through the association will pay you a significant share of their academic credits as a patent fee! Furthermore, breeding methods obtained from the association are strictly prohibited from being shared further; this is mandated by law. Of course, even with laws and the requirement to sign Soul Contracts, truly enforcing strict prohibition can sometimes be difficult.”

Vice President Liu clarified the pros and cons. Su Ping nodded. He was already aware of these subsequent details. But Vice President Liu was right. Human nature is inherently selfish; no one is willing to share their researched breeding methods for nothing. That’s why powerful Beast Tamers in the Secret Realms would choose to pass on their breeding methods as a legacy before their death. This was true in ancient times, and it hasn’t changed much in the modern era either.

Vice President Liu glanced at Su Ping. Just as with the Heart of Woods, he didn’t insist on anything from him, and said with a smile,
