Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Evolution Successful, What Kind of Evolutionary Being Is This?

”Gentlemen, this is where our Heart of Woods Forest Wolves engage in activities and training...” Guan Qianshan was familiarly introducing the training ground to the father and his sons, but his words came to an abrupt halt halfway through.

”Manager Guan, your Forest Wolves...” Zhang Lie also spoke with evident interest.

Because at that moment, behind Guan Qianshan, there was not a trace of any Forest Wolf. On the large clearing in front of the forest, though, there were some remnants of vine markings and signs of battle. It was clear that Lao Guan hadn’t been wrong.

Guan Qianshan looked rather embarrassed as he glanced back, ”Maybe it’s just not training time yet. The Pet Beast training is mainly handled by Breeder Su.”

Zhang Lie nodded, not saying a word, feeling a bit disappointed. It was almost eleven o’clock now. As the leader of the Forest Wolf Troop, he naturally knew that unlike other wolves that are nocturnal, daytime was the best time for Forest Wolves to train and be active. Yet now, there was no sign of these Forest Wolves, nor any trace of that so-called Breeder; it clearly showed a lack of dedication. Although I anticipated this possibility, I can’t help feeling somewhat let down. It seems I might have to look for another Breeder after all. But while he thought this, no other emotion showed on his face.

As for Lao Guan, he had completely given up. He didn’t even know what their young boss had been up to these past few days. Why was Su Ping staying so dedicatedly by that strange Forest Wolf, even halting the purchase of surrounding land deeds? All the money had been spent on resources for that Forest Wolf! It looked like this business deal was probably not going to happen.

However, driven by professional ethics, he still took the father and sons for an additional tour within the Heart of Woods. ”Just ahead is the research project that Breeder Su has been studying these days, which is generally not open for casual visits. But since you gentlemen were acquainted with Breeder Su before, we can take a distant look from here, and that would be permissible.”

”Hmm!” Zhang Lie nodded indifferently.

Seeing his two equally frustrated sons, he chuckled. His sons had always wanted to join the army with him and be part of the Forest Wolf Troop, so they had been training diligently. Now, they were excited to meet the reputable Breeder their father had recommended, and yet, they had encountered this situation.

First, the previously discussed price was off the table; it had suddenly risen by a million. Then, within the entire Heart of Wood Cultivation Base, not a single person could be found. Only this manager, who seemed to have materialized out of thin air, remained. This performance undoubtedly made his sons feel as though they had lost face in front of their own father.

Therefore, Zhang Lie, who was a stern figure in front of the new recruits and his subordinates, was quite an understanding and gentle father to his sons. Smiling, he said, ”I trust your judgment. When that Little Breeder has time, you can visit and have a chat with him. If the price is the same as before, I’ll do whatever it takes to help you try!”

Zhang Wen frowned, ”Forget it, who knows if it would even be successful!”

Manager Guan also felt somewhat helpless. However, he still wore an enthusiastic smile on his face as he approached the tempered glass enclosure, ”This is the main research and Cultivation project that Breeder Su has been focusing on recently...”

Before he could finish, he saw the three individuals, who had just shown signs of boredom, focusing their gaze in unison toward the distance. Guan Qianshan also turned his head in surprise.

Immediately, at the edge of his vision, under the grass bathed in sunlight, all the Forest Wolves that had just disappeared were now gathered here. Squatting there, one by one, both large and small, there must have been dozens of them. At first glance, they looked like a collection of elementary school students dutifully listening to a lecture.

Zhang Lie witnessed this scene, and it strongly reminded him of small gatherings within his Legion, with every Beast Tamer warrior squatting down in a similar manner. Suddenly, his impression of the young Breeder Su started to change slightly. To be able to tame so many wolves and keep them so well-behaved... he must have some skill, right? Could it be that I was mistaken? And what is that young Breeder having so many Forest Wolves do, squatting here? What’s he up to?

He moved forward a few steps and came to stand in front of the reinforced glass enclosure, squinting his eyes slightly. Then, those narrowed eyes began to gradually widen until, at last, they were as round as copper bells, staring in disbelief at those two blurred figures at the end of his line of sight, and at that one rare, yet captivating ray of light.

It was the light that every Beast Tamer, and countless Pet Beasts, most eagerly anticipated. This light signified a further step in progress, a vaster future, and greater strength, as well as an evolved Pet Beast that was different from the past! Every newly evolved Pet Beast came with a new species name, more Skills, and powerful Racial Potential.

Even within his own Legion, there were still few soldiers who had accumulated enough military merit to allow their little companions to achieve a satisfactory Evolution, himself included. Even though he, Commander Zhang Lie, was already at the Commander Level of Beast Tamers, his Pet Beast, the Forest Wolf, was still stuck at its race limit. It hadn’t undergone Evolution, not for lack of military merit, but because he hadn’t found a desirable evolutionary path.

Yet, what am I seeing? Inside the Cultivation Base of a Breeder said to be my son’s age, I’m seeing the Light of Evolution? This must be the Evolution of a Forest Wolf, right? What will its Evolutionary Body be? The most common, lowest-tier ordinary Forest Wolf, or something else?

Zhang Lie didn’t know. At that moment, however, his gaze was entirely captivated by that light far away at the end of his line of sight, unable to be moved away in the slightest.

Su Ping was clearly unaware that this final Evolution had unexpectedly attracted two onlookers. But even if he knew, Su Ping wouldn’t be concerned. The Evolution of the Wanmu Wolf would surely be shared and announced in the future. Being seen by others first didn’t really matter. And at that moment, Su Ping clearly had no leisure to think about anything else. All his attention and gaze were focused on that Light Cocoon.

Finally, time ticked by slowly. The thick Light Cocoon covering Old Sha gradually became thinner. A faint and indescribable fresh scent wafted out, so refreshing that just being near it made one feel clear-headed and invigorated. Afterward, within the remnants of that hazy halo, a Living Being with a still indistinct but unmistakably wolf-like shadow appeared in their line of sight.

Old Sha, the Evolution was a success!

However, from a distance, Zhang Lie, seeing this figure, revealed confusion in his wide-open eyes, What kind of Evolutionary Body is this?
