Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: The Zhang Family Brothers Pay a Visit, Beast Tamer Legion!

”Xiao Ping, a customer said they know you. They mentioned before that they wanted to have a personal chat with you...”

In the walkie-talkie, Lao Guan’s voice came through. Su Ping’s brow furrowed.

”Uncle Guan, I don’t have time right now. You attend to them first. If they aren’t willing to wait, we’ll reschedule.”

Su Ping’s gaze didn’t shift, remaining firmly fixed on the enormous Light Cocoon.

The Light of Evolution is a special phenomenon that only appears during a Pet Beast’s Evolution.

It is the time when a Pet Beast is at its most vulnerable, and any accident can easily lead to a failed Evolution due to external factors.

Even though this was his own home, Su Ping was unwilling to move even half a step during these final moments.

The duration of the Evolution depends on the strength of the Evolutionary Body.

However, under normal conditions, the process doesn’t actually take too long.

Su Ping estimated that forty minutes to an hour and a half should be sufficient.

After all, Evolution is a metamorphosis that occurs once all Energy prerequisites reach their peak.

Compared to this final Evolution, the Cultivation that came before was considerably longer and more arduous.

Fortunately, regardless, Su Ping had already completed the journey and reached this final step.

During these last moments, he certainly wouldn’t leave to attend to any customer, thereby missing the final second of Old Sha’s transformation.

Never mind mere customers; even if President Qin or Vice President Liu showed up, they would have to wait patiently. Of course, Su Ping estimated that if these two knew, they’d probably be quite willing to wait with him, right?

Su Ping directly cut off the signal. In the reception room, Lao Guan was left somewhat embarrassed. However, he still returned to the room and apologetically addressed the three figures on the sofa,

”Gentlemen, I apologize. Our boss is currently unavailable. However, here at Heart of Woods, we take the Cultivation of every Pet Beast very seriously. It’s personally overseen by Breeder Su himself, ensuring there are no issues whatsoever! Furthermore, our prices have always been consistent, with absolutely no hidden charges!”

If Su Ping were here, he’d probably recognize at first glance who these individuals claiming to know him were.

The two young figures sitting to the left and right were none other than the Zhang Wen and Zhang Wu brothers, whom he had met earlier at Yuntian Resort.

These were the brothers with the Talented Ability of telepathic connection.

However, upon hearing the Cultivation price of four million, or a one million material fee in the event of failure, they had decided to return home to discuss it. After finally making a decision and bringing their father—who seldom came home—they heard another piece of news.

The Cultivation fee at Heart of Woods had increased again, to five million, which undoubtedly left the two brothers stunned.

When Lao Guan learned of this, he also felt somewhat helpless. At that time, Su Ping had a somewhat unclear understanding of his own Cultivation services and hadn’t anticipated so many customers. That was why price changes had occurred twice in rapid succession during that period.

Now that people were literally at his doorstep, what could he do? Could he decide on his own to lock in the Cultivation fee at four million for the two? This deal involved a two million difference; how could he possibly make that decision?

But to Guan Qianshan’s relief, the burly man sitting between the two young men didn’t seem angered by this. Instead, he appeared quite interested in examining the Heart of Woods reception room.

He didn’t seem to care at all about the heated haggling between his sons and Manager Guan.

In fact, he really didn’t care.

Although ten million was a sum he could ill afford, this time he had come with a special mission.

His name was Zhang Lie, and his identity was quite special.

As one of the core cities in the east and an important city by the Eastern Sea, Jianghai Province naturally held a special status.

Accordingly, there were Beast Tamer Legions stationed in Jianghai Province.

However, the location of the Beast Tamer Legions’ military district was generally not disclosed to the public.

Zhang Lie was the commander of the Forest Wolf Troop, a unit within the Jianghai Province Legion, specifically from the Forest Wild Army’s War Wolf A Division.

Owing to its strategic position, the Beast Tamer Legions in Jianghai Province encompassed several army Legions.

Apart from two army Legions, the rest were naval forces and a portion of the air force.

After all, the location of West Dragon Lake was exceptionally advantageous.

Not only in Jianghai Province, but many water-type Beast Tamer Legions from the Eastern Military Region also operated around West Dragon Lake.

In this era, the primary tasks of the Beast Tamer Legions, besides driving away wild Pet Beasts that entered human-activity zones, were internal exercises and training.

Just last month, his Forest Wolf Troop had a simulated battle exercise with a brother troop from the Fierce Tiger C Division.

The result was a devastating loss: the opponent achieved victory with less than one-third of their own casualties, not only routing his forces but also capturing him, the commander, before he could even summon his Pet Beasts.

What was most embarrassing was that the exercise took place in a forest—terrain where his Forest Wolf Troop should have excelled.

Even now, Zhang Lie could still envisage the dark-faced expression of his superior officer.

Nevertheless, he understood why the opponent was so formidable.

The reason was simple: the Fierce Tiger C Division had undergone internal reforms, and that Rock Tiger Troop was the first to be affected. This exercise was intended to test the results using his Forest Wolf Troop.

The focus of this internal reform was elite Cultivation.

This involved specialized training programs, Skill Cultivation by professional Breeders, resource rewards for completing training objectives, and even Evolution.

Having learned all this, Zhang Lie had accepted this mission as a chance for redemption: find a suitable Forest Wolf Breeder and implement enhanced Cultivation and training for his own troop!

And just after he left the Legion base and returned home, his two sons informed him that in Linzhou, they had come across an interesting Forest Wolf Breeder who was actually capable of nurturing the Heart of Woods Skill!

Indeed, although the Beast Tamer Legions were separate institutions within the Dragon Nation and, serving as a national mainstay, had access to comprehensive resources and training, there was a certain rigidity within the Legions. The breeding departments within the Legions did exist, but they were, for the most part, outdated. After all, most geniuses with a Talent for breeding would not choose a military career. It was about time to appropriately introduce the diverse breeding methods from the outside world into the Legions to further enhance the battle strength of the Beast Tamer Legions.

Zhang Lie himself was not too convinced that a young fellow, about the same age as his two naive sons, could be such an impressive Breeder. But, acting on the principle of trying anything in a desperate situation, he came anyway. If he failed to complete this mission, as the commander of the Forest Wolf Troop, there was a high likelihood he would be demoted by his furious superiors to shoveling manure upon his return.

With this in mind, Zhang Lie dared not be careless. He smiled at the somewhat embarrassed Manager Guan and said,

”Manager Guan, could we take a look inside? As you know, nurturing a Pet Beast is no trivial matter!”

”Of course, this way, please. I expect our Breeder Su is currently researching Pet Beast Cultivation. Perhaps we’ll encounter him,” replied Manager Guan.

With that, the four of them quickly made their way towards the Pet Beast Cultivation area in the backyard.
