Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 81: Chapter 81: The Chemical Reaction of the Heart of Woods!

Photosynthesis + Sunlight Absorption could strengthen the effect of Heart of Woods and even accelerate its upgrade?

Finally, Su Ping, dragging his slippers and wearing pajamas, squatted beside the camera on the lawn. After watching the footage over and over, he reached such a conclusion.

Although, to him, the conclusion seemed somewhat unreliable, and he wasn’t even sure why, he felt both excited and scared. The excitement stemmed from having a new direction and more specialized insights into the research of Pet Beasts. The fear arose because what he initially thought to be a near-certain evolutionary Cultivation now had an unexpected twist. For now, this twist didn’t seem to have a significant impact; it could even be considered a good thing. An upgrade in skill Level is, of course, a good thing, but what lay ahead was not so certain.

Su Ping took a deep breath and subconsciously licked the corner of his mouth. Suppressing the tension and anticipation in his heart, he actually wanted to conduct thorough experiments now, but it was Old Sha who was evolving. The first thing he needed to ensure was always Old Sha’s safety. As for the experiment, there was plenty of time in the future. Moreover, he could feel that the effects of Heart of Woods did not have a significant impact on Old Sha’s Evolution. Perhaps just more remarkable?

Now that Old Sha had mastered Photosynthesis, it naturally indicated that he had entered the Third Rank of the Wanmu Wolf’s Evolution. At this stage, there was no rush to think about anything else. The most important thing at the moment was to find a way to boost Old Sha’s Photosynthesis Level. The rest could be dealt with slowly later on.

With this in mind, Su Ping hastily made a call to Lao Guan.

Soon after, Lao Guan came running over, spotting his young boss still in pajamas and slippers, his hair a mess like a bird’s nest.

He sighed with resignation, ”Boss, it’s nine o’clock. There might be visitors for a tour. Couldn’t you pay a bit more attention to your image?”

”Mm-hmm, next time for sure, Uncle Guan, did you bring the stuff?” Su Ping replied.

Lao Guan, speechless, took out a plastic bag and then brought over a large bucket, handing it to Su Ping. Su Ping took it eagerly and nodded in satisfaction after a quick glance. These were the two resources he had purchased a few days ago: Sunflower Smile Seeds and Sunlight Spring Water. Both were resources listed in the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas as necessary for the optimal Evolution of the Wanmu Wolf.

Su Ping ignored Lao Guan and rushed over to Old Sha with the items.

Through the tempered glass, Guan Qianshan shook his head after a brief look but still showed a smile at the corner of his mouth. He finally understood how this kid managed to revitalize Heart of Woods and achieve so much in just a month. This little fellow truly loved Pet Beast Cultivation; he was a diligent and gifted talent indeed. Why hadn’t I noticed this before?

However, Guan Qianshan knew Cultivation was not for outsiders to watch, and he had no interest in observing further. Seeing such hard work from this young man, he thought, Maybe that vision I described to him could truly be realized by this youth’s hands? If that’s the case, then I, too, must work hard! At the very least, I need to ensure there are no issues with logistics. Otherwise, people might think I’m just here to fool a child.

With this thought, Guan Qianshan, a man in his forties, suddenly felt an inexplicable surge of energy he identified as ’drive’. Su Ping’s presence always seemed to inspire those around him.

”Old Sha, time for some seeds!”

Su Ping, holding the big pack of Sunflower Smile Seeds, sat down directly on the grass in front of Old Sha, seemingly unconcerned about his appearance.

Sunflower Smile is an Ordinary Level Plant Type Pet Beast that can absorb sunlight. It’s a common Resource Type Pet Beast that produces these sunflower seeds. They can replenish sunlight Energy, supply calcium, and the trace elements needed by both Pet Beasts and human Beast Tamers. It was a comparatively luxurious snack.

Sitting together with Old Sha, Su Ping tossed him a seed, then put one in his own mouth. Master and servant, man and wolf, sat on the lawn under the sun, cracking sunflower seeds. CRACK. CRACK. The sound was crisp and clear.

However, Su Ping was not idle. He opened the notebook he had brought along, started a new page from the back, and commenced writing:

’The effects of Photosynthesis mainly include: converting solar energy into chemical energy, and inorganic matter into organic matter.’

’Photosynthesis is divided into light and dark reactions.’

’It involves light absorption, electron transfer, photophosphorylation, carbon assimilation, and more.’

’It is known that the overall equation for the light and dark reactions of Photosynthesis is: CO₂+6H₂O→C₆H₁₂O₆[(CH₂O)ₙ]+6O₂.’

’After mastering the Skill, the Forest Wolf can undergo Photosynthesis within its body through the use of Skills to react...’

’The Sunlight Absorption Skill is unique to the Forest Wolf, which enhances the sunbathing process by further absorbing trace elements from the sunlight, such as the known Vitamin D, etc...’

’The Wood Heart Skill can forcibly absorb organic Energy Material from other plant life, through Photosynthesis and Sunlight Absorption...’

’...’

Lines of text, incomprehensible to others, filled the page as Su Ping scribbled quickly, the research directions in his mind seemingly clarifying all at once.

Although the Beastmaster Society of Blue Star is different from my previous world, Earth, and some physical, chemical, and biological knowledge doesn’t directly apply, it can often serve as a direct reference. He focused on deconstructing the biological formula for Photosynthesis, integrating it with the Skills used on Plant Type Pet Beasts, and from there, deducing the specific effects of Heart of Woods on Photosynthesis and Sunlight Absorption.

While thinking, his other hand didn’t stop moving. CLICK. He cracked open a refreshingly fragrant sunflower seed, then tossed another big handful to the expectant Old Sha. Old Sha caught them all in one gulp and swallowed them without even cracking the shells. Su Ping ignored the still hopeful Old Sha and, while chewing on the seeds, plunged back into his thoughts.

The effect of the photochemical reactions is indeed like that. Especially in this world, where Pet Beasts can awaken the Ability of Photosynthesis through resources and bloodlines. If I could take this Ability back to my previous world... wouldn’t it be really possible to use CO₂, carbon dioxide, to quickly make flour, and in large quantities at that? Of course, in essence, this technology could also be achieved in a laboratory, and whether or not it’s significantly useful is a matter of perspective.

Now, what I need to do is analyze, on this basis, the enhancement effect of Heart of Woods. And ultimately, under the formulas of these three Skills, what kind of chemical reaction will there be! And what kind of changes and differences would such a chemical reaction undergo if placed in this Pet Beast World?

Thinking this, Su Ping scooped up another handful of seeds and passed them to Old Sha. He then spat out the seed husks and continued to work through formulas in his small notebook.

「Shortly after」

Outside the tempered glass fence, Guan Qianshan led guests to the Heart of Wood Cultivation Base, smiling as he introduced, ”Heart of Wood was a Cultivation base with some reputation even before. The founder, Mr. Su Zhongguang, was a Monarch Level Beast Tamer. And now, Breeder Su Ping, despite his young age, has already become an Intermediate Level Breeder and is highly regarded by the Breeder Association.

”It is also for this reason that our Heart of Wood’s Cultivation team has been booked for the next two months. However, Breeder Su is planning to speed up the Cultivation process so, if you choose to cultivate the ’Wood Heart Skill,’ booking now means the latest you might come for Cultivation is one month later.”

Guan Qianshan spoke eloquently, while the guests, looking through the tempered glass, stared curiously at the scene on the other side. Guan Qianshan had a bad feeling.

Sure enough, the young boss whom I warned to pay attention to his image three hours ago is now wearing blue pajamas with a cartoon image of a Q version Forest Wolf on them, sitting right there on the grass under the sun, cracking seeds and busily writing something. Who would find such an image reliable? It seems likely this deal is about to fall through.

Just as he was about to speak up and provide an explanation, the customer spoke first, ”Is that Breeder Su? Truly diligent! Look at him, still in his pajamas, so devoted to the Cultivation work that he neglects sleep and food. No wonder he has such remarkable achievements at such a young age! It’s truly admirable.”

With that, the customer turned and said, ”With such a Breeder here, it’s no wonder Heart of Wood has been receiving such great reviews recently! I’ll bring my daughter’s Little Forest Wolf over in a few days. Where do I pay the deposit?”

Guan Qianshan looked bewildered at the admiring customer before he belatedly realized and quickly responded, ”Oh, oh, please follow me. Choosing Heart of Wood is a decision you definitely won’t regret! Our Breeder Su is just such an outstanding and dedicated Breeder who doesn’t sweat the small stuff!”
