Can’t Have Died in Vain

“Just say what you have to say. You have to be mentally prepared when you come to the Central Guards Brigade.”

“These two people were tortured inhumanely when they were still alive. Their nails were pulled out, and their bodies are covered in bruises. The two wounds on their shoulder blades were nailed in when they were still alive. This woman was even violated.” Lin Yi said.

“Apart from that, the bones in their legs and hands were broken. But the real cause of death was from severed arteries and excessive bleeding. The actual time of death was about an hour ago, almost as soon as the two of us boarded the ship. And the injuries on their bodies were all from earlier.”

“Huff…”

Qiu Yuluo wiped her tears and Ning Che took a deep breath. The atmosphere on the ship was filled with sadness.

Just as Tao Cheng had said before, he could accept the death of his comrades, but he could not accept such difficult sacrifices.

However, he had no choice. After joining the Central Guards Brigade, there were many things that he could not dictate.

Lin Yi took out a sheet from the bedroom and covered the two of them.

“I’ve already informed the people in Zhonghai’s Garrison Area to come and receive us,” Lin Yi said.

“The two of you, report this matter to the higher-ups and see what to do next.”

“Yeah.”

Qiu Yuluo nodded and stood to the side. She reported the situation to Liu Hong and only returned ten minutes later.

“What did Boss Liu say?” Ning Che asked.

“He’s bringing people to Zhonghai now. We’ll talk about it when he arrives.”

Ning Che took out a box of cigarettes from his bag and lit one for himself.

“Everyone, let’s share our thoughts. There are too many suspicious points surrounding this matter.”

“The people who contacted you before shouldn’t be the two of them.” Lin Yi said.

“It’s very likely that the murderer sent us a message under their name. He wanted to lure us onto the ship so that we would find them.”

“But who is the murderer? What is their motive? This was too cruel,” Jiang Qing said.

This was also a problem that needed to be resolved urgently.

However, Lin Yi could only confirm that this wasn’t done by the man in black.

He had interacted with him twice, and each time they exchanged blows, he would stop when he had the upper hand and leave in a hurry.

Especially the second time when he took the Bass ore from Caie Mitsui.

However, he did not kill either Yoshino Yoshida or Caie Mitsui.

He didn’t care about Caie Mitsui’s identity, but he wasn’t a person who would kill innocent people.

Therefore, it was impossible for him to be the murderer.

Despite the appearance of the Bath Ore, he did not appear. The murderer was someone else.

“I have a bold guess,” Lin Yi said.

“The killer is most likely someone from Black Gold Corporation.”

“Black Gold?!”

Lin Yi’s words reminded everyone that these people were indeed a suspect.

“There’s something you don’t know,” Lin Yi said.

“Other than Jimmy and his subordinates, 1 also killed four people from Black Gold Corporation, but they were not as skilled as Jimmy. In addition, we took away ten vials of the gene sequence serum. The crazy Black Gold Corporation probably did such a thing because of this.”

Lin Yi’s deduction perfectly matched the situation.

However, there was another point that they had to consider.

“We took Jimmy and his men, as well as ten portions of the gene sequence serum. You killed four people from Black Gold Corporation. They do have enough reason to take revenge, but if they really planned to do so, why didn’t they lure us onto the ship and capture us all in one fell swoop?” Ning Che asked.

“That’s easy to explain,” Lin Yi said.

“Although our operation is on the open sea, it’s very close to Huaxia’s coast. The ship responsible for covering us is nearby. If there’s a commotion and the ship moves in, no one from Black Gold Corporation will be able to return alive. Moreover, if this matter blows up too much, it will completely expose them to the world. This is an unwise choice, so they decided to secretly take revenge like this. 1 have to say, Jeffrey is indeed a smart person.”

“I think Lin Yi has a point,” Qiu Yuluo said.

“The Central Guards Brigade is a national-level organization. Most of the missions we carry out are between countries. When it comes to these missions, regardless of which side suffers losses, there be no backstabbing. However, Black Gold Company is different. Such scumbag behavior makes them no different from the Nazis.”

“This indeed seems to be the case. There doesn’t seem to be any other possibility.” Ning Che combed her long black hair. “Everyone, cheer up. There are still many things we need to do.”

The night wind was very quiet. No one spoke as they sat there quietly.

It felt like life was playing a joke on them. When they first came, it was an unbridled trip, but when they returned, they were filled with pain that would not fade.

Lin Yi even felt that those who decided to quit back then had made the right decision.

This was because he might die at any time, and he would do so in such a miserable manner.

Two hours later, the boat returned to Wangjiang Dock.

The surroundings were sealed off, and Mo Hongshan and Gao Chong brought people to pick up Lin Yi and the others.

The most important thing was to deal with the two corpses. To them, the two people lying on the ground were their heroes.

“Salute!”

Mo Hongshan shouted, and the entire company saluted in unison.

“Thank you for your hard work,” Qiu Yuluo said.

“It’s what we should do,” Mo Hongshan said.

“Let’s go to the military headquarters first. The chief is waiting for you there.”

“Okay.”

The group drove to the Armed Police General Hospital and handed the two bodies to the hospital. Then, they waited for the autopsy report.

Not long after, Liu Hong and Cao Jiadu arrived.

Seeing the two subordinates he personally trained die in such a miserable manner, neither Liu Hong nor Cao Jiadu could accept it. They silently cried for a long time, but they did not make a sound.

Despite this, the voice of hatred in their hearts was like thunder, creating roars that could even wake the dead.

After settling the matters at hand, Lin Yi and the others returned to the garrison area.

“You guys have worked hard on this mission. Tell me the details.” Liu Hong said.

Because the operation was carried out by Lin Yi and Tao Cheng, the two of them recounted everything that had happened and the possibilities they had analyzed.

Liu Hong and Cao Jiadu also felt that the possibility of Black Gold Corporation being the culprit was very high.

“Your analysis makes sense, but we don’t have any evidence, so we can’t come to a conclusion.”

“I don’t think there’s a need to draw a conclusion about this matter. As long as we determine that they’re the murderers, we can take action,” Qiu Yuluo said.

“The members of the Central Guards Brigade can’t have died in vain..”
