“Hmm? Don’t I just need to water them? What else is there to do?”

“That’s not all.” Yao Bin spat out a mouthful of fishbone and said,

“The water wells for farming were all manually dug in the village, and each household has paid for them. Since you’re new here, you naturally can’t use the well water.

“That’s not right.” Lin Yi said.

“The original owner of the house I bought should have paid for it, right? Now that I’ve bought his house, I’m qualified to use the well water.’

“It’s not as simple as you think. If you change ownership, you have to pay a new set of fees.”

“Can’t I get water from my own house?” “No, he won’t let you.” Yao Bin said.

‘Who wouldn’t?”

“Liu Dongming. He was in charge of digging the well, so he didn’t allow others to use the water from their houses to water the land.”

“What kind of bullish*t rule is this? How can you agree to this?”

“The main factor is that we all use well water to irrigate the land, and we use a lot of it. We’re different from you, who only has a greenhouse. You don’t need to worry about this.”

“Logically speaking, the money for digging wells and farming should be paid by the state, right? Why are the commoners paying for it?”

“Sigh, let’s not talk about this. Let’s just drink.”Yao Bin said,

“You’re a rich man too, so you shouldn’t be lacking that bit of money. I’ll bring you to pay the money tomorrow, then you can just farm peacefully.”

“You are using a greenhouse, so you can start planting now. It will take some more time before we can plant in our open land. In the meantime, we can share some water with you.’

“I don’t lack money, but I can’t let you guys just burn your money, right?”Lin Yi said.

“The water is free. Why are they charging for it here?”

“Yes, it’s very unreasonable. Liu Dongming is well-established as the village tyrant. His brother-in-law is also the village chief.”Yao Bin said,

“When the wells were initially dug, there were a few troublemakers in the village who disagreed. In the end, not only did he physically assault them, but he also vandalized their property. We are all ordinary folks who just want to live a peaceful life. We don’t dare to oppose him, so we can only obediently pay the money.”

“Didn’t you call the police?”

“Don’t even talk about this.” Sun Bin sneered disdainfully and said, “They called for the police but they didn’t come. In the end, his leg was broken, and he had to pay for the medical expenses himself.”

“And then? Didn ‘t you guys do anything else? Did you just swallow your anger and endure it?”

“The person who called the police had his legs broken. His wife couldn’t take it anymore, so she went to the city to complain to the higher-ups. Guess what happened in the end? Before she could enter the city, she was stopped by Liu Dongming at the highway entrance.”

“And then?”

“I heard that she was raped and was suffering from mental problems. She committed suicide by jumping into a well.”

Lin Yi rubbed his chin. He felt that this person was much more despicable than Yu Deqiang.

“So listen to my advice. Tomorrow, pay the money so you can farm in peace.” Lin Yi chuckled. “I’m not afraid of that.”

“Little brother, don’t think that just because you have money, you don’t have to fear anything.” Yao Bin said.

“I don’t know how much money you have, but I’m sure he’s richer than you. You can’t afford to offend him.’

“He’s just a village tyrant. How much money can he have? ‘

“You don’t understand. There are a lot of tricks at play here.” Yao Bin said.

“Over the years, half of the land supplement money from the higher-ups has gone into his and his brother-in-law’s pockets. Moreover, last year, the higher-ups allocated a lot of money to the village to repair the road. It hasn’t been repaired until now. I reckon they’ve pocketed this money and taken interest from the bank. When the higher-ups investigate, they can symbolically repair it whilst withholding the rest of the large sum. Think about how much money they’ll earn in this way.”

“The situation in your village is quite complicated,” Lin Yi smiled.

“It’s not complicated. You just haven’t stayed in the countryside before. This happens in every village. It’s just that our situation is a little more serious.”

“Alright, I’ll remember everything,” Lin Yi said.

“Then come and look for me tomorrow. I’ll bring you to pay the money.”

“Alright, we’ll talk about this when the time comes. ‘

After talking about farming, the three of them began to gossip about the village.

Lin Yi realized that although there was a village tyrant messing with the order of life, there were also many interesting things happening in private.

For example, someone in the Wang family in the south of the village got cancer. Instead of going to the hospital to treat it, they found a godly dancer who said that he could chase away ghosts and exorcise evil spirits.

If he paid 8 ,ooo yuan, he would be able to recover in a month. In the end, he did not even live another week. He was completely cheated of his money.

Meanwhile, the second daughter-in-law of the Liu family in the village looked more serious than anyone else, but she had slept with half of the masters in the village.

There was also a certain someone whose family had bought two cars. It looked glorious, but in reality, they were in debt.

In Lin Yi’s opinion, these scenarios could all be written into novels.

The meal lasted until eight in the evening. Seeing that it was about time to go,

Lin Yi bade farewell and went home so as not to disturb their rest.

After chatting with Ji Qingyan for a while, he went to bed. The next morning, he woke up at 7 a.m. and prepared to go to town to buy some water pipes before using the water to farm.

He didn’t care about what Yao Bin said at all.

“Sister-in-law, where are you guys going?” Lin Yi asked.

“I’m going to send him to school. I won’t talk to you for now. If I don’t leave now, we’ll be late,” Sun Chunli said as she pushed her bicycle.

“You don’t have to ride a bicycle. I’m going to town, so I can help you send the child to school.”

“It’s fine. I’ll just send him myself.”

“It’s fine. It’s not convenient for you to ride a bicycle. We’re neighbors, so we have to help each other.”

Sun Chunli smiled honestly. “Then I won’t stand on ceremony with you.” Lin Yi drove the car to their house, and Sun Chunli sent Yao Bowen out. “I’m telling you, behave yourself in the car. Don’t keep shifting around. ‘

“Got it, Mom.’

After instructing Yao Bowen, Sun Chunli looked at Lin Yi.

“I’ll have to trouble you today. Come back to my house for lunch.”

“Sure. ‘

Lin Yi and Sun Bowen got into the car and drove towards Four Corner Town.

“Is your elementary school in town? Why haven’t I seen it before?’ Lin Yi asked. “Our school is two miles from town. You have to follow the department store road and continue driving east to see it. ‘

“Ah, I know where it is. ‘

Following the address Sun Bowen gave him, Lin Yi drove Yao Bowen to Zhen Elementary School.

Ten minutes later, the two of them arrived at Town Primary School. It was a simple two-story building.

The parents dropped off their children here one after another.

However, some of the older children came by themselves, seemingly already independent.

What surprised Lin Yi was that there was a female teacher with a beautiful figure standing at the school gate. She looked out of place compared to the parents in town.

“Hello, Teacher Du,” Yao Bowen said in the car.

His tone was a little smug since he had come in a big car..
