Chapter 329 Samsara Trial (1)

That night, Meng Chuan told his wife about the matter after returning. His wife was pleasantly surprised. “An’er is going to challenge the Life-and-Death juncture and become a Godfiend?”

Meng Chuan nodded and continued eating his porridge.

Liu Qiyue held her chopsticks and said with mixed emotions, “I still remember the days when we lived at Gu Mountain Prefecture in seclusion. Days when You’er and An’er were just born… In the blink of an eye, over ten years have passed. An’er is about to become a Godfiend now that he’s grown up. In the future, he will follow in our footsteps to fight demons. Truth be told, I really don’t want You’er and An’er to fight. It would be great if the war can end with our generation so that our descendants can live in peace,” said Liu Qiyue.

When the demon monarchs attacked last night, over 23,000 people died in Changfeng City. Over 10,000 people were crippled. It hadn’t been long since the attack had happened, so Liu Qiyue’s emotions were naturally more complicated.

“All of us want to end the war. We don’t want our children and descendants to be embroiled in it. However, this war has been going on for more than 800 years,” said Meng Chuan. “From the looks of it, we won’t be able to win in the next few decades. All we can do is let You’er and An’er adapt to this world.”

“Then our entire family will be participating in the war,” said Liu Qiyue softly.

“You’er and An’er are very outstanding,” said Meng Chuan. “An’er was able to master the Samsara Divine Body at the age of 16 and become a Godfiend. His talent… is better than Yan Chitong, Xue Feng, and mine. Although Xue Feng became a Godfiend at the age of 15, he cultivated the Black Sand Fiend Bodywhich is of relatively lower difficulty. Our son’s Samsara Divine Body is extremely difficult to cultivate.”

Liu Qiyue nodded.

“An’er might develop his strength faster than us,” said Meng Chuan with a smile. “You have to have confidence in your children.”

“Of course I have confidence in our son.” Liu Qiyue looked at Meng Chuan. “I have to guard Changfeng City, so I can’t leave. The day after tomorrow, you will be the only one going to Archean Mountain.”

“Don’t worry,” said Meng Chuan with a smile. “Archean Mountain’s inner sect disciples are only allowed to challenge the Life-and-Death juncture when they are 100% confident. An’er will succeed easily.”

The cold, autumn wind howled on Life-and-Death Peak. Rain poured, adding to the chill.

Meng Chuan, Archean Mountain Lord, and Elder Yi were chatting on Life-and-Death Peak.

“Oh, he’s here,” said Archean Mountain Lord with a smile as he looked into the distance.

Meng Chuan saw the siblings walking up the winding path rather quickly. When he saw his children, he couldn’t help but smile.

This day had finally arrived. His son was about to become a Godfiend.

“Mountain Lord, Elder.” When Meng An and Meng You arrived, they first bowed to Archean Mountain Lord and Elder Yi before looking at Meng Chuan excitedly. “Dad.”

“Good.” Meng Chuan looked at his son, Meng An, satisfied. He smiled and said, “An’er, you did well. Your mother is very happy to know about this. However, she can’t leave the city, so I’ll be the one to witness your breakthrough.”

“Dad, watch me.” Meng An was in high spirits.

“You’er, wait here,” instructed Meng Chuan as he pointed ahead. “An’er, the Godfiend Blood Pool Cave is up ahead. Go right to the end and you will see the Godfiend Blood Pool. The Supremacy will personally protect you. Go on.”

“Okay.” Meng An bowed respectfully before walking towards the Godfiend Blood Pool Cave.

Meng Chuan and his daughter, Meng You, waited where they were, along with Archean Mountain Lord and Elder Yi.

“I still remember the two of us witnessing your breakthrough as a Godfiend back then,” said Elder Yi with a smile. “In the blink of an eye, over 30 years have passed.”

“Time flies.” Meng Chuan nodded.

“It has really been a storm of events in the past 30 years,” said Archean Mountain Lord. “The world has changed drastically. Village forts, prefecture cities, county cities have all been abandoned. Even small and medium-sized city passes met the same

fate.”

“It has indeed been a storm.” Meng Chuan remembered that he wasn’t disturbed during his cultivation on the mountain. After he left the mountain, he fought one battle after another. He saw many deaths.

Meng You listened silently.

“By the way, do we know how the Black Sand Dynasty and the Great Yue Dynasty fared during the demons’ attack?” asked Meng Chuan. “The Black Sand Dynasty and the Great Yue Dynasty also suffered attacks on ten large cities,” said Archean Mountain Lord.

Meng Chuan was astonished. “The demons attacked all three dynasties and targeted ten cities each?”

The three dynasties had a different number of cities. The Great Yue Dynasty had the least cities.

“The Great Yue Dynasty suffered the lightest losses,” said Archean Mountain Lord. “After all, almost all of their cities are guarded by Regis Godfiends. Two to three cities are guarded by Marquis Godfiends, but with a bunch of them, their cities were impregnable. The Black Sand Dynasty’s losses are comparable to ours,” said Archean Mountain Lord. “Comparable?” Meng Chuan was surprised. “We should have greater combat strength with our Regis Godfiends, right? Yet, the losses are about the same?”

Archean Mountain Lord isolated his voice

Meng You and whispered, “Black Sand Grotto-Heaven and Archean Mountain have a few sleeping Regis Godfiends. Some ancient Regis Godfiends continue to guard the area. Although our Regis Godfiends have more combat strength, their Halberd Hall’s machinery is very powerful. They can control the machinery from afar. It was very advantageous in the defense against the ordinary demon monarchs.”

Meng Chuan understood.

“It’s too difficult for Marquis Godfiends to stop thousands of demon monarchs from attacking a city,” said Archean Mountain Lord. “When dealing with a large group of demon monarchs, only those that cultivate poisonous bugs or refine machinery are good at defending. However, you know that there are too few Marquis Godfiends that cultivate poisonous bugs. There are only five in Archean Mountain.”

“Indeed.” Meng Chuan nodded.

Poison cultivation was a relatively unorthodox system in the world. There was only one suitable high-grade Godfiend body

—the Myriad Poisons Fiend Body. Archean Mountain only had one Regis Godfiend who refined poison-King Luyue. The requirements of this system were low. Almost everyone could attempt to cultivate it, but they needed to focus on researching all sorts of poisons.

“The Supremacies are also discussing how to make up for our shortcomings,” said Archean Mountain Lord.

Meng You looked at her father, Archean Mountain Lord, and Elder Yi —who were busy talking about the war situation. They had cut off all sound as they spoke. Clearly, they didn’t want a junior like her to know too much. Suddenly, Archean Mountain Lord, Elder Yi, and her father—Meng Chuanlooked at the Godfiend Blood Pool Cave.

“Dad?” Meng You couldn’t help but ask, “Is Brother…?”

“He’ll be out soon,” said Meng Chuan with a smile. “He’s already succeeded.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Meng An walked out from the Godfiend Blood Pool Cave. His aura was much stronger than before.

“Dad.” Meng An walked to Meng Chuan’s side.

Meng Chuan could sense how powerful his son’s Godfiend body was. Out of all Godfiend bodies, the Samsara Divine Body was the strongest and closest to perfection. This made Meng Chuan admire Ancestral Master Archean Eon. The Godfiend cultivation system focuses on Quintessential Essence, but the Samsara Divine Body still cultivates the body to such a level. It’s even stronger than many demon monarchs at the same level. It’s truly impressive.

The Samsara Divine Body was perfect in all aspects.

“Becoming a Godfiend is just the beginning. Cultivate well,” encouraged Meng Chuan. “We can’t stay on Life-and-Death Peak for too long. You and You’er should hurry down the mountain.”

“Yes.” Meng An bowed. He and Meng You bowed respectfully to the three elders before immediately leaving the mountain. “Mountain Lord, Elder Yi, I’ll take my leave as well.” Meng Chuan cupped his hands.

“Junior Brother Meng, go busy yourself,” said Archean Mountain Lord immediately.

Following that, Meng Chuan transformed into a bolt of lightning and soared into the sky. He still needed to continue his daily underground reconnaissance.

Meng You and Meng An watched the bolt of lightning disappear into the horizon. They knew that their father had left, so they talked softly as they left.
