The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Chapter 981: The Panther Goddess, Bast

The moment their eyes met, they both smiled.

It felt like just yesterday they had last seen each other. However, it had already been several years since Klaus and the panther goddess last saw and spoke to each other.

While Klaus had yet to recall all of his memories as the Star Monarch, he knew enough to recognize that one of his fourteen Beast Generals was the lady walking toward him.

The Panther Goddess Bast.

She walked closer and spread her arms, asking for a hug.

Klaus smiled and then gave her a hug that contained all the emotions bottled up over all these years since they last saw each other.

Though she wasn’t the True Panther goddess but a mere strand of her soul and consciousness, Klaus knew the real her would be smiling by now.

”It is good to see you again, Bast,” Klaus said.

”You too, Lord Monarch.”

Klaus’s smile widened as he shook his head. ”I already told you calling me Lord Monarch is weird.”

”And I also said I will never call you any other name aside from Lord Monarch, so get used to it.”

Klaus laughed, knowing some things never change. After a few minutes, they broke the hug, and Klaus paid much closer attention to Bast.

”How have you been?” he asked. Bast smiled, showing her beauty through her radiant smile.

”I am well, I think. Well, this is just a strand of my consciousness, but the last time I left this consciousness here, I was doing better,” Bast responded, and Klaus nodded.

He was already aware of how things like this work, so he wasn’t too shocked hearing it from Bast. The moment one reached the Immortal stage, they could leave strands of their consciousness everywhere they wanted.

Even if they were to die, the consciousness they left will remain until it performs the task set for it.

Klaus turned and looked at Princess Eshira and her brother and smiled. ”Looks like you’ve been busy while I was away. To think you would use your Source blood to change the fate of an entire race. I am impressed.”

Bast’s smile revealed a cute dimple. ”The Lord is just teasing me. Compared to you creating a race that once dominated the entire universe, mine is but child’s play.” She paused and looked at Prince Challa, smiling even more.

”Though I have to say, I never expected him to show this much promise. He is a genius, no doubt.”

Bast didn’t want to show it, but Klaus could see the hunger in her eyes, even if it was merely her consciousness speaking.

She wants to send Prince Challa to take the Trial of the Panther goddess. That trial was something she got from an unknown person. It is like an inheritance-type trial. All those who pass it will gain a unique Panther god body.

But that is just the gist of it.

There are other benefits to be derived from it, and Bast, who tried many times to make Klaus take such a trial many years ago, was now looking forward to meeting Prince Challa, whose talent is one the universe will experience in the coming years.

Klaus sighed and then waved his hand, changing the scene. They appeared in space, looking at the blue planet. Bast sighed, knowing this was the main reason Klaus had called her.

”Has the Lord prepared enough?” she asked, and Klaus nodded.

”Don’t worry, Bast, I have prepared for many years for this very moment. The end will be as you already expected.”

Bast looked at Klaus for a few seconds, and then a smile appeared on her face. ”I can come here, you know. We both know I can do that if you call me.”

Klaus shook his head. ”You coming here will not be ideal. The heavens would do anything to annihilate me, and your intervention will be like adding more ingredients to the already bitter stew.

So relax and let me handle it. After all, I have already prepared for them, and you have also done your part. So for now, if you want to help me, bestow on your people the power of the Panther goddess, and they will fight in your stead.”

Bast was clearly looking forward to coming and fighting beside her master, just as she used to many years ago.

However, a god’s arrival for the awakening wouldn’t only give the heavens all the excuse to kill Klaus in any way they deemed worthy, but they would make sure everything about him was wiped out, including his wives, friends, and all those who held sympathy toward him.

She understood that much, and so she knew what had to be done and what must be ignored. In the grand scheme of things, she knew she must trust her master and let him handle things on his own.

”There are a few promising figures among the Bast race. I will give them the power to fight side by side with you. They will fight to the end with you, master, so allow them.”

”I will allow them, knowing they have your blessing. But I will also give them my blood and make sure they don’t die trying. I know what a big old softy you are when you lose subordinates.”

Bast blushed. Klaus just smiled and gently brushed a few strands of hair from her face.

”Yuying and Unity are coming to me. They will probably reach her in a couple of years’ time. Once they get here, I will appear in the universe.

Just hold on for now. Once I arrive in the vast universe, I will come to you.”

”I will await your arrival, Lord Monarch.”

Klaus nodded with a smile. ”In that case, you should get to work. I can sense the heavens turning their gaze toward us.

Knowing them, they would probably cause a scene which we both know wouldn’t end well, so perhaps we should handle the main business first.”

Bast smirked. ”They can kiss my ass for all I care.” Soon, they were back in the central site.

Time unfroze, allowing Princess Eshira and Prince Challa to see her. Naturally, they all went down on their knees. ”We pay our respects to the Panther goddess Bast.”

Bast smiled and waved her hand, causing them to stand. She looked at Princess Eshira, and the smile on her face dimmed for a moment before it brightened.

”So that is how it is, huh. No wonder the master seems so confident,” she smiled.

”They said she is deadly with the spear, that a single thrust of her spear can pierce the firmament.” The look on her face turned to one of reverence.

”Who would have thought the legendary Queen of Spears and one of the Five Fairies of Death would be found in the same world Master reincarnated in?”

Klaus, who was standing on the side, shook his head and smiled helplessly. ”Uhm, Bast, perhaps you should get back to work before you seduce my wife with your exaggerated praises.”

”Who said I am exaggerating...” Bast paused and then looked up. ”This damn heavens... I’d better hurry before they annihilate my soul for evading their territory.”

A silver sword appeared in Bast’s hands... She looked at Princess Eshira for a few seconds before focusing back on her task.
