Chapter 662: The Element of Surprise

Thousands of assassins came after Fruity, Klausʼs fourth incarnation, but only one managed to impress him. From the tormented world to Valeria and beyond, he faced many assassins, but Axel was different.

He was also the only one who got close to killing him.

Back then, when they became brothers, Axel told him his strongest ability was the element of surprise.

The element of surprise is when you never expect something to happen, yet it does, and you can only try to adapt within that millisecond, or else you will die.

Back then, Fruity adapted within that millisecond when Axel attacked him, and yet again, he did that today, but he died.

Of course, Klaus saw it coming, but to lift the spirits of his friends, he intentionally lost his footing when Mason attacked, which gave Aoi the chance to end him before he could recover.

Klaus could have evaded all these attacks as if they werenʼt there, but when he saw Mason move, for a moment, Axelʼs more mature and serious expression appeared on Masonʼs face.

This brought back some memories, causing Klaus to let them have this.

His head was severed from his neck, bringing some color to the faces of his friends, who turned and all smiled at Mason, who had scored them a win.

”Nice one, Mason, buddy. I knew there was something special about you,” Kay, who had fought tooth and nail with him just a while ago, said, tapping him on the shoulder with a smile.

This made Mason smile slightly. They were finally warming up to him.

He still needs time to adapt to his current life, but he is adapting, and this simple gesture from Kay made him feel included more.

The rest of Klausʼs friends gave him a nod with smiles on their faces.

Lily turned to the real Klaus, stuck out her tongue, and started teasing him. Klaus just smirked and pointed up.

The ladies and gents, upon seeing this, looked up only to see another Klaus standing with his hands clasped behind him.

”Not again,” Lucy muttered, turning to look at the real Klaus.

He just smirks, knowing the ladies are feeling down seeing another clone.

”No need to look at me. This time, I will be attacking, so you all should be ready to defend,” Klaus said through the illusion clone.

”Give it your best shot,” Lily shouted, causing the illusion of Klaus to smirk.

He raised his hand, and a portal appeared. From within the portal, a gong emerged along with a small red stick.

”What is that?” Aoi asked, looking at the gong in Klausʼs hands.

”That is a very terrifying weapon. Everyone, fortify your minds,” Lulu, who managed to see the true nature of the gong, shouted, but she was a moment too late.

”GONG!”

Klaus struck it, sending a gong sound that immediately caused his friends and the women to start seeing triple and quadruple.

Even Kathy wasnʼt excluded. Read new chapters at

”Your minds are really weak,” Klaus said as he struck the gong again. This time, most of them dropped to the floor, with only Lulu and Nia left standing.

Even Aoi passed out. The mind attack he unleashed was just too much for them to handle.

”GONG!”

Klaus struck the gong once more, and this time, Lulu couldnʼt hold on any longer and passed out. Nia, however, just stood there, watching Klaus with a smile on her face.

It was like the sound was amusing to her ears.

[She swapped with her shadow. This means mind and soul attacks wonʼt work on her. This young lady is smart.]

”I donʼt think you can hurt me, dear,” Nia giggled.

”I have to say, I didnʼt see that coming. But why donʼt you look behind you?” the clone said, smiling.

Nia, sensing someone appearing behind her, turned, but before she could do anything, Klaus lifted her into a princess carry, causing her to yelp.

The real Klaus appeared and swept her off her feet.

The duel was over, and on the ground now were his friends and the ladies, passed out from a simple mind attack.

Klaus carried Nia away while they waited for them to wake up. They couldnʼt resist the mind attacks, so they passed out.

This means Klaus would have to train their mind,s too.

The overlords who saw how Klaus easily defeated his friends looked at each other and sighed. They had expected a good fight, but this was not what they had anticipated.

Of course, his friends showed great teamwork and a display of skills, but Klaus is just too monstrous. Now, he had shown them he was someone worthy of taking on Overlords and beyond.

”You really are wicked, Klaus,” Nia, who was in Klausʼs arms, said, beating his chest. ”Do you know how heartbreaking it felt when my dagger went through your back?”

”I know, and it was my own way of telling you to never hesitate when attacking your opponent. In fact, never hold back when facing your opponent,” Klaus said.

”A day will come when your opponent will take my face and copy my style. So when that time comes, donʼt hold back. Trust me, you wouldnʼt want to hold back.”

Nia nodded, but she still needed time to come to terms with the idea of killing someone who looked like Klaus. Just thinking about it seemed to sour her mood.

”Donʼt think too much about it. I will make sure you never enter a situation that will require you to kill me,” Klaus said, making her lighten up a bit.

”You really are monstrous,” Nia said.

”You too. To think you can change places with your shadow and become immune to both soul and mind attacks—that is just monstrous,” Klaus said, making Nia smile slightly.

”If youʼre impressed, why donʼt you reward me instead?” Nia blushed, knowing what she was asking for was something any of her sisters would hesitate to request.

”Donʼt worry; I will spend the night with you alone today,” Klaus said, kissing her cheek. ”Weʼll go all night.”

Her blush deepened, but she was more than happy to spend the entire night with her man.

⟪Looks like you have an admirer, dear. Thereʼs a beauty staring at you,⟫ Nia suddenly said to Klaus using their connection. Klaus smiled and turned to his right.

There, he saw a tall, stunningly gorgeous lady who was looking at him with keen interest, though she pretended she wasnʼt staring at him.

⟪How can a person be both tall and beautiful? Damn, this lady is gorgeous, and from her physique, sheʼs a brute fighter.⟫

⟪Yes. Thatʼs Vida Stronghold. Sheʼs an axe user and also the leader of the Iron Fist Clan, the 4th-ranked faction in the academy. Sheʼs also the strongest body cultivator in the entire academy.⟫

⟪I want to fight her using my bare fists like a true body cultivator,⟫ Klaus said, making Nia smile.

⟪Are you sure you donʼt just want to get her into your bed?⟫

⟪That can be decided later. For now, I want to see just how this tall beauty can handle herself first.⟫

⟪Suit yourself. She clearly seems to want to talk to you but is shy. Approach her first, then.⟫
